QUOTE(dangum @ Jul 29 2009, 2:46 pm) *

I've just been checking out the comments that Ed's been receiving on Twitter re: this new track...

There's a classic from one of his stalkers (La_FemmeFatale) - She spams him constantly. 5-6 messages in a row on a daily basis. Anyway, take a look a this comment:

"I really LUV ur new song. If I may pls make only 1 suggestion. Maybe instead of "Childern of Seinfeld," Childern of..."
"I don't know, LOL. Something a little higher but the same pt. Seinfeld kinda dates it, ya know? Something a lil more poetic."

Hahaha, Children of Seinfeld???! no.gif

haha thats awesome ... Ed so needs to make reference to this in a new song. I can see the new single now, "Take me up to Seinfeld". with guest appearences from the man himself "So whats the deal with Eddie Kaaaay? He used to be with Live but now he's solo, whats the deal with that?"

Some Karsh Kale fans are probably saying, "love the music, not the lyrics." Both parties get to do their thing.

The song is different for Eddie, but its pretty cool. Would I want a full album of this? Absolutely not. However, I think its cool that Ed is experimenting with different sounds, instead of just making a Live record solo.

Streaming thoughts as they come to me as I listen to this song for the first time:

- WTF???
- Great, another song about water (and flowers - a.k.a Paper Flowers)
- Again Ed is in a lyrical rut - he's sung about this stuff before (many times)
- Sounds like some awareness song from the 80's about poverty
- It screams 80's sound
- Is Ed's new influence Phil Collins
- Can't dig the India vibe
- I would not pay for this
- I hate this song
- Thank god this did not show up on a Live album
- This song has no mass appeal and no commercial potential. If this is the sound of the album it will sell a few thousand copies if it finds a lable.
- I can see why the band would not want to play this shit
- The band did the right thing. This is crap.
- Epic Fail !!!!!
- This song is to long
- Finally over!

Another hypothetical, read between the lines, thought. They're probably saying this blows 100%.

Eddie announced this song on Twitter referring to himself in the third person again. I listened to this song something like 10 times. I liked it better the first time than the next and I like it less every time I listen to it. At first the vocals sounded cool and I accepted the techno-Eastern vibe. But the more I listened to it, the less inspired it sounds. It is just a few lines that seem all too self-important repeated over and over again, sometimes with the "chorus of Eddies" that I dislike. I'm actually not that impressed and I think it is disappointing musically and melodically and somewhat disturbing lyrically.

I think Ed has become a crazy, ego-maniac, religious freak who has lost the ability to write songs.

A few days ago, he Twittered about finding the Lord. He's putting pictures of his kids on ground coffee, fleecing his audience with chatchkies, going on about Zion. He's taking pictures of himself naked and Twittering about naked jumping jacks and singing into his computer. I am totally freaked out by the EK. CT seems so cool by comparison.

I jotted down some lines from this song. I'm not sure I like the references to the gospel, Jews and Jewish Children (child of Zion), and what is going on with the Rise Up stuff. Is he calling for the conversion of Jews or something? WTF is going on?!?!

"Gospel in the churches, non one hears the sound."

"Rise up Child of Zion"

"18 years of strippen for the rent, come on out honey from that circus tent, you're a child of Zion fell asleep for awhile."

I like the Ed who questioned authority and absolute thinking better than the Eddie who has preached HIS truth on the last 3 or 4 albums.

First of all if you refer to yourself in the third person you are an ass!

I don't get his sudden fixation on the Jewish homeland. Maybe he likes it because it was in the Matrix or because it starts with the letter Z. Career wise it doesn't make any sense to focus on Zion so intently since singing about it, the way he does, doesn't appeal to anyone.

I think he's using Zion as a universal word for promised land or something, but it's a dumb message.

More so, I find it annoying that Ed has again fixated on one thing, Zion, and now he's putting it into every fucking song. I think he's lost it (the magic that he had).

It doesn't seem to me that Ed connects with the world anymore, he connects with whatever the hell he is into and that's all he can write about. For songs to be effective, appealing, lasting, and meaningful they have to connect to a person.

I don't connect to, or care about, Zion at all. I'm assuming most people wouldn't even get the reference.

In addition, seeing how Ed has been writing his music and showing himself publicly, if our daughters were the same age I wouldn't want them hanging around at his house. Who knows what shit he might start telling them.

Just to show how bad the lyrics are (as mentioned before by FishOutaWater) I forced myself to sit through this song and write down the lyrics. For a quick listen I did my best and think they are pretty spot on.

Here is the genius of Eddie K:

Everything around me tryin to bring me down
Gospel and the judges, no one hears the sound
Flood waters rising, people dying of thirst
If we're living not to die then tell me which is worse

Dirty Water, Lotus Flower
Dirty Water, Lotus Flower
Ahhhhh

Eighteen years and strippin' for the rent
Come on out honey, from that circus tent
You're a child of Zion, fell asleep for awhile
You didn't bite dick to be in waiting child

Dirty Water, Lotus Flower
Dirty Water, Lotus Flower

Rise Up, Rise Up
Rise Up, Rise Up
Rise Up, Rise Up

Rise Up, Rise Up
Rise Up, Rise Up
Rise Up, Rise Up
Child of Zion

Tie yourself to the way they reason today
Follow the money and the power found to lose your way
Just cause you're alive don't mean you know how to live
No matter how it seems you only get what you give

Dirty Water, Lotus Flower

Rise Up, Rise Up
Rise Up, Rise Up
Child of Zion

(Gay flute solo with electronic background)

Everything around me tryin to bring me down
Gospel and the judges, no one hears the sound
Flood waters rising, people dying of thirst
If we're living not to die then tell me which is worse

Dirty Water, Lotus Flower
Dirty Water, Lotus Flower

C'mon
Dirty Water, Lotus Flower

Everything around me tryin to bring me down
Gospel and the judges, no one hears the sound
Flood waters rising, people dying of thirst
If we're living not to die then tell me which is worse

Said Dirty Water, Lotus Flower
Dirty Water, Lotus Flower (Rise Up, Rise Up Background)
Child of Zion

Rise Up, Rise Up
Rise Up, Rise Up
Child of Zion
