I'm happy this is not the new Live song, for the new Live album.

It really does remind me somehow of Cornell's latest work.

Shit, this shall not be my first line in this post...

I absolutely love the song. I somehow see it as a pre-release and a small preview of what the solo album will be like. I mean, some artists do throw out a remix to a new song to see how it goes and then on a release they offer a completely different version of it. I would love to hear the live version (I mean with the live instruments) of this one. Sitar would suit it perfectly well. And I think it could be a damn good closer for an album.

The eastern sound and good vocal do it for me. 15 spins already. Loving it.

Wow, that's a really... different kind of song. Lyrically I kinda like it, it seems a step up from SFBM. Musically it's really new. I hoped Ed would focus more on the aura of the acoustic guitar for his album, so I dig the theory that this could be a remix already or something. But either way, interesting stuff.

I ... uh .. well, thats different. I wasn't exactly expecting it, and I really hope that this isn't the direction he's going in, but as a once off, I don't absolutely hate it. I got a feeling this isn't album bound, at least not in this form. I like the middle eastern/indian tinge to it. It doesn't come across as taking itself too seriously which is probably why I don't outright hate it. But yeah .. certainly not what I was expecting.

I checked out more of this Karsh Kale's stuff and it is pretty cool, nice late night listening stuff, good driving music.

a lotus is a flower that blossums from a mound of dirt or pure mud...quite a striking contrast. Human consciousness "rising up" from the filth of knowledge and conditioning? The lotus flower is also a significant feature of some ancient religions and creation stories i believe.

Ed has always been on the same path thematically and its something that im just attracted to. really digging it.

Ít's not that I don't like it, but it's certainly different! And I really thought Ed would do a new SFBM, but it's good he wants to improve. So give him probs for that!

However, I can't say I like those electronics. It's just not rock, as somebody said before. The eastern sounds really remind me of the experimenting in 2001.
But - apart from Nick and a few persons - I didn't hear many of you prising the vocals! Weren't they great? At least great in comparison with Ed's vocals over the last years. When I heard his voice at the start of the song, I even thought: this can't be Ed? I think this is very positive. And I agree with +Ed+ it somehow reminds me a little of Chris Cornell's latest solo album. And the latest band effort 'Believe' reminded me of Audioslave a bit. Funny.

Anyway, first Zion and now this, I think his solo album can get very different. We will quite certain get a Daughtry duet (I just feel it), and also hoping on a Sinnead O Connor duet, Ed's working on that. Altogether that could make this album very diverse, fresh and new. Maybe we won't all like it, but I think it's worth it looking forward. I only hope Ed will write a few real (acoustic) rocking songs, although it's not with the full band. I would something in the style of Hlter Skelter (see the youtube video of early 2008).

Yeah, I do actually like the vocals. Listening again atm. If Ed mixes this kind of stuff in with acoustic Zion-esque stuff then his album could be very creative.

Also, I think this song is like an odd techno mix of FMNBLE, new eastern tinged lyrical stuffs and just a teeny tiny little speckle of Voodoo Lady. You think?

Voody Lady! yeah, that's what it reminds me too, now you're saying it!

Btw, I'm also quite happy he does this as a 'side-project', and that my favorite band Live (if it continues in the future at all) will never be associated with techno stuff of something heynow.gif

anyone managed to write down the lyrics?

My God how our standards have fallen. Voodoo Lady?? This reminds someone of Voodoo Lady?? Voodoo Lady is a solid song with instrumental variety, well placed electronics, and a dynamic progression. There is no comparison here other than the use of electronics.

I'm glad there are people actually digging the song, and I do agree that the vocals sound good, but unfortunately like the last two recordings from Live I think our standards have fallen way way too low.

Love the lyrics and how he sings it. I like the "Eastern" music feel to it, but I don't think the music is solid enough for the song. Reminds me of the Sun loop version from TDTH, but not as good muscially. I like the direction though, definitely not your stock Live rock tune.

I've just been checking out the comments that Ed's been receiving on Twitter re: this new track...

There's a classic from one of his stalkers (La_FemmeFatale) - She spams him constantly. 5-6 messages in a row on a daily basis. Anyway, take a look a this comment:

"I really LUV ur new song. If I may pls make only 1 suggestion. Maybe instead of "Childern of Seinfeld," Childern of..."
"I don't know, LOL. Something a little higher but the same pt. Seinfeld kinda dates it, ya know? Something a lil more poetic."

Hahaha, Children of Seinfeld???! no.gif
