It's rare I post but had to weigh in. Live has been my favorite band since I heard the 1st crack of the snare drum on Pain Lies On The Riverside. As the saying goes, you have to call a spade a spade, etc. There are way to many blind followers on here. Anyone who thinks V or BrokeBack Mountain are valid discs are crazy. One thing I always liked about our boys is each album was a bit different, but as we all know BrokeBack Mnt was an Ed solo album. SO why is everyone wondering what Ed's solo stuff will be like. Listen to You Are Not Alone or that abortion Forever. Hell, even the 3 boys were mocking Ed during performances of this song. It seems Ed wants top be a pop star now, not a rock star. Which is his perogative, people change. Personally I think it has to do w/ his homo-erotic relationship/fascination w/ that Daughtery bozo. And all you politically correct, sensitive people who don't like that comment can suck it. I'm 39 and grew up in a world that isn't pussyfied, politically correct or where you had to be sensitive to the plight of people such as the terrorists trying to take down our country. And hell yes, that Ed falsetto and dance moves could not be any gayer. Again, suck it, you know who you are. He wants to do pop songs like BrokeBack Mnt and they want to rock out w/ Believe and Top, Shit Towne, etc. I think the 3 boys were embarrassed as hell to put their name on BrokeBack Mnt and when they got together to start writing realized Ed was looking for Broke Back II while they'd like to return to their roots of passionate rock music. We all have to admit (unless you're a total homer) that the music has lacked that passion. The live shows still do and always will. On stage is their forte. I am sad to see the break or whatever it may be, but I am happy we didn't get BrokeBack II released when we were all hoping for a comeback. Maybe after their side projects they get back together and the passion is there, as well as being onthe same page musically. Maybe it never happens. I don't care for Ed's new direction, but again, people change and it is his life to live. Sucks he drug down my favorite band the last few years and stifled the creativity of the other 3 for sure. Prime example, last show I saw, they open up w/ Simple Creed, than Waitress and than brought the show to a screeching halt by playing Love SHines 3rd. Needless to say the beer and bathroom lines expanded immediately, and our boys and Adam looked like they'd rather be playing the Itsy Bitsy Spider than that piece of crap.

This is for a small percentage of you out there, Go ahead and trash me all you nutless new generation, I can't use the word men in that comment because you've all been deballed by this politically correct, minority rules, sensitive society you've created. Nice job. But I have the feeling the overwhelming majority share some or maybe all my views on this. Again, unless you're a total homer and Live can never do any wrong in your book. Which is also fine, it's your opinion you're entitled to. Just have the conviction and passion to stand behind your opinion either way.

I am a Candlebox fan and think Kevin will be a good fit for what the boys are trying to do. Saw them twice back in their height of popularity and will say they put on really good shows. Definitely potential there for some good material. You;d have to think Chad and the boys have some riffs laying around that King Ed wouldn't permit onto his new pop Live cd's. Looking fwd to hearing music w/ passion again. Isn't that one of the things that drew all of us to this band in the 1st place. Sorry Ed, I think we know what you have in store for us, and it isn't what Live fans are looking for. But I do respect his wanting to reach a new audience, no matter how weak that audience is. I think Ed will learn, the grass isn't always greener....If it takes a multi-year break to bring back the band we all grew to love I'm all for it. These guys have been playing together since middle school, I don't think we can begrudge them a break or side projects after all these years. Hopefully thay can fulfill these outside interests and come back as a more stronger, focussed, passionate band. Hopefully...

Enjoy the rest of summer everyone!!!

Liverocks is gonna love you.

Even though we've not been told the full story, I think the whole Ed wanting to go pop whilst the rest of the band want to go back to harder and more raw rock music is pretty much the story. I mean I'm sure whatever they release now would have been the direction they personally would have wanted to take Live next. If Ed releases a solo album with more SFBM stuff there's no way people could say "but maybe he wanted to do heavier stuff with Live", if he did then he would have released a solo record like that. I'm expecting both projects to be very different from each other, anything else wouldn't make sense. Ed did say recently he wished he put a few more rockers on SFBM, but that wouldn't have saved that album, lyrically it was a complete disaster as well, Zion is a step in the right direction though so hopefully we get more of that.

count me in the nutless generation.. because we arent all DUDES here- maybe in the minority, but there are some gals here on the boards too..

and give me a fucking break.. woo hoo. you are 39 -- wow! congrats? big fucking deal-- so i'm 42.. big deal.. does it make you feel like more of a man to use the word pussified and homo? get over yourself- if this is the only way to express yourself.. well.. good luck buddy.

do you make valid points? sure- many of us i think are certain that the one of the reasons we are seeing CD, CT & PD branch out is because they havent been making the music they have wanted to make - and that is because of ed - and that they want to return to the hard rocking music they made earlier in their career.. i'm looking forward to their new initiative.. and think kevin martins voice will likely suit them well in that pursuit.. i am also curious about what ed will do. the man wrote some amazing lyrics early on in his career.. and i'm hoping (but doubtful) that we will see some glimmer of that again.. and thats why people wonder..

Voodoo Lady, you don't have the brains to figure out those comments weren't directed to the lovely ladies out there? Come on. I only reference my age to show the generation I grew up in. Each generation has changed, as well as the culture and words, again that is why I referenced my age. If someone in their 50's or 60's called you a "braud" you'd probably be furious (and rightfully so), but to that person since it was accepted in their generation they wouldn't think twice about it. I saw it happen at work once, it was a pretty ugly scene. As far as my choice of words, I used what epxressed my point the best. I'm sorry they weren't pretty, positive, politically correct, sensitive, dress it up in a nice sweet, cuddly bow, to your liking words. But come on, you have an issue with homo in the context I used it? There's no other word to use in that phrase, "homo-erotic". Again it made my point, what would you like me to say : "Heterosexually challenged" erotic?, "Liking the opposite gender frustrated' erotic?, "Same sex curious" erotic, "Enjoys playing w/ someone that has the same sex organs" erotic?, "Their parents didn't love them enough and this is the result" erotic. "They got bent over comments not directed towards them" erotic.

Those comments weren't directed to the ladies, how could you not see that?

Just felt like putting my 2 cents in because I have been reading a lot on here. I have been a LIVE fan since 93. I was 13 then and IN LOVE with everything about the band; the music, the lyrics, the look, and feel of everything. It was amazing.... and I have felt that way all through their ENTIRE catalog. I enjoyed how the band grew with me.... or perhaps how I grew with the band??!! Anyway, I can't help but wonder why so many ppl are letting what ONE member of the band is saying get their panties in a bunch.

As we all know.... (because it's not like I have any new or compelling information here, like I said just weighing in.)

EK and CG are forecasting just a break... not a break up.

PD is a mute..... or perhaps just not feeding in to the drama, because if the band were to "officially" break up, I believe they would put something official out there on their web site.

As for CT..... I don't feel that in any way he is putting the nail in the coffin of LIVE. I think he is more or less putting himself in the mind set of ~LIVE was then and this new band is now~. He basically said that in one of his Twitter posts. If he still holds on to the fact that LIVE will be once more and that this new endeavor is just a passing thing.... then subconsciously this new project could never be able to consume all of him. All his talent, passion, creativity etc. Closing the door on the past to foster something new in the future does not mean the door to the past is locked and key thrown away.

Not that this all doesn't leave the future of LIVE in kind of a no mans land.... but I think everyone getting all up in arms with one another on the whole it's over/it's just a break debate pointless.

I mean, I too feel the disappointment of expecting a new LIVE record only to find out that they are taking this break.... but I refuse to let all these twitter postings with cryptic messages from ONE guy in a band of 4 members get me all riled up. I am excited to hear new music from both "sides" so to speak. And if it takes off and and LIVE never reunites again, then so be it. I would much rather have 2 separate albums from the guys from LIVE doing what it is they want to be doing.... creating that which is what is fueling where their creative spirit is at the moment, than do something together that is forced because they feel they need to do some sort of a "come back" album because even a lot of their loyal fans hated SFBM.

Anyway, just my opinion...... I could be wrong!!! smile.gif
