So you just answered my question. YOU don't like the idea of ANYONE replacing Ed. Hence get OVER IT! It is happening. At least for now

(and it is not replacing Ed for it is a different band) relax man. Ed is doing his shit, so are the other guys.

But you are still lingering in your own mind and can't accept that this shit is happening. Dude it's just music. You make it sound like your parents are breaking up and fucking your next door neighbours. (or your wife is)

I do accept what is happening with the band . However, that doesn't mean I have to blindly love the changes that are being made.

It isn't a "change," it is an entirely different band. Its not like Van Halen or something.

An entirely different band that is 75 percent of the old band....

Fine then. But don't go around putting down another band just cause you don't like the fact that said bands singer is making an album with 75% of Live. If anything, take it up with CT, CG, AND PD. I doubt they'd give a shit about what you think (specially the whole cryfest about swearing)

I'm going to support CT, CG, and PD on their new project. However, I think I'm allowed to be less than enthusiastic when it comes to the lead singer. It probably will work out fine, but I have my reservations.

yeah its 75% of the old band but it will be working in a totally different way, not for 10yrs has it seemed that CG, CT and PD have had a proper part in writing an album, that in itself makes it a very different band to Live.

Exactly, I view this as an entirely different band because the guys are going to be working without Ed for the first time. Musicians used to form bands like this all the time, only recently did projects like Temple of the Dog, Mad Season, etc. quit forming.

I don't think this is going to sound at all like Live with a different vocalist, judging by the clips released so far.

QUOTE(shave98765 @ Jul 25 2009, 1:24 am) *

I guess my comment was a little confusing...

My first point was more in agreeing with Nick in general...that excessive cursing in an interview is not necessary

The second, and much more important point...insulting Ed (or anyone) by calling them "gay ass fairies" is just stupid and inappropriate. People who say things like that are ignorant.

I made it clear that I have no problem with cursing...and like I said, used effectively can add to a song...sorry if I was a little unclear in my point.

I'm looking forward to this project/band...I like live and I like candlebox...I couldn't care less about the singer as a person, to be honest...as long as the music is good and something that I like, that's all I care about.

Listen you ass juice drinking bridge troll, I don't give a rats ass as to what you think is insulting or ignorant. It's my opinion, it's different from yours. Don't like it?? You take a flying fuck off a short cliff. It's called freedom of speech prison bitch.

I voice my opinions differently than most. Not meant to be insulting, that I can assure you of. It's the way I look at him now. The guy might as well be bouncing around in a pink tutu singing his high pitch, La de da.....everything is roses, "I'm jumping around naked" Faggoty ass shit.

You don't think it's all a bit too much, that's fine. I'm not saying anything about you because you like it. I'm saying I think it's completely gay and resembles a lot of the shit that a lot of these pop princesses do, that's all.

So if I'm ignorant, I'm ignorant. Give me my prize, I'll fuck your wife good for a change, then we'll call it even. You guys and you're "no swearing!" and "boo hoo, that ignorant!" remind me of a bunch of fat, Burger King eating soccer moms with 6 fat little kids, who thinks she's god gift to the earth the way she talks. While the only thing I see is a fat blob of hairy armpitted shit who's breathing up my good air and taking up too much space with her hippo ass.

Ignorant? Maybe...probably. But that's me. Now fuck off.

A good portion of society considers excessive vulgarity to be ignorant. Live does have songs with curses, but if you check out the band's greatest hits album, its not laced with vulgarity. I've never heard Ed curse during an interview. You can saw what you want about the guy's views, but he has more class than that.

I'm not saying that I never use vulgarity in private, but doing so in a public interview makes a person sound ignorant.

Class? How prude is that????

As long as a person is being themselves Nick and not pretending to be something else, who cares? You view it as ignorant and others don't. I don't think his use was excessive, even though I do agree with you that there were a few times it was unnecessary.

Same with the Ed shit, I view it as being fake. That's not the Ed we've always known. But that's just my view. dude is selling mugs with pics of his kids on em now or something? All kinds of stupid ass commercial garbage. He's selling out to make money...and why?

Maybe because he wrote four consecutive albums of garbage? Garbage only you and a VERY LIMITED number of people think is good Nick. these guys went from selling out arenas and an 8 million copy selling record, to playing casinos and not even selling a million with their past 3?

They had millions of fans, which turned into basically nothing, as you can see with the spongebob ghosttown for a site here. what does that tell you? Comparable bands of the nineties like Radiohead, STP, RHCP, Pearl Jam, and many many others, still have giant fanbases. Why? They still make great music. They kept true to their roots. All of them can still fill giant arenas.

Live? They're done. Why? Ed fucked everything up by taking over and writing bullshit, boring, uninspired pop music that drove away MILLIONS of fans. MILLIONS. Think about it.

You make a lot of good points in your post. However, Live's fanbase signifigantly shrunk from the Throwing Copper era to Secret Samahdi. It shrunk a great deal again from SS to TDTH. Once the 90's end, Live and the majority of the bands from that era were finished from a commercial standpoint. The bands that you mentioned always had a larger fanbase than Live. And none of them outside of the Chili Peppers are relevant to today's mainstream music fan.

Most of the band's of the 90's went on hiatus once the new decade began. Musical tastes changed and radio stations and labels began pushing new acts. The hiatus that Live is taking now, probably should have occurred after V. While the album did very well overseas, it just didn't catch in the US.

Radiohead isn't relevant to today's mainstream music fan? Seriously?

I think people let their love for live sometimes blind how popular/influencial they actually are/were in the grand scheme of things. As much as we might not want to admit it, Live are nobody's in the big picture. They really had one "good" (see: hugely popular) year which was the 1995/1996 time and most of the record sales that get talked about when discussing Live's success are from one album. That's not a diss against them because obviously I love their work beyond Throwing Copper too, but realisticly you couldn't ever put Live in the same league as Radiohead, Pearl Jam, RHCP etc in terms of influence/popularity (even though personally I'd take the best of Live over the best of all of those bands combined any day). Comparing them is just silly.

I agree with this. Live was popular but never as popular as bands like RHCP, Pearl Jam, U2...etc. I mention to someone that I'm going to see Live or Ed Kowalczyk and they say who? I garantee if I said I'm going to see RHCP they would know exactly who I was talking about. If I played Lightning Crashes then they may say "Ohh...that band.." but they usually do not recognize the name alone. Live has had their share of success but once again, I don't think it was on the same level as some of the bands mentioned above. I love Live, always will....that's just me.

I have a lot of mixed feelings about the whole hiatus. I kinda feel like something is up because it ws so sudden (has anyone noticed that CT and CG do not follow Ed on Twitter? Yeh, I know...you all will have all kinds of comments about why that is! surrender.gif Naked jumping jacks? As a female, the naked jumping jacks tweet didn't bother me! blush.gif) but I don't know, I guess I feel that once it's all said and done, neither solo project will be very successful (not saying that I don't want them to be successful!) and they'll realize that they are better as Live....they'll come back refreshed and be better than...well the last two albums! ha

I don't have anything against Kevin Martin, but that interview was kinda shitty of him. CT, CG, and PD really wanted to make it a big announcement and he sort of blabbed everything. He could have simply said he's working on something and would announce the project soon or something. Anyways...that's my 2.5 cents....
