I am pretty sure we either watched an entirely different interview, or you are just blowing things way out of proportion.

I guess my comment was a little confusing...

My first point was more in agreeing with Nick in general...that excessive cursing in an interview is not necessary

The second, and much more important point...insulting Ed (or anyone) by calling them "gay ass fairies" is just stupid and inappropriate. People who say things like that are ignorant.

I made it clear that I have no problem with cursing...and like I said, used effectively can add to a song...sorry if I was a little unclear in my point.

I'm looking forward to this project/band...I like live and I like candlebox...I couldn't care less about the singer as a person, to be honest...as long as the music is good and something that I like, that's all I care about.

I agree that excessively cursing in an interview is unnecessary, but would argue that there isn't anything excessive in this interview (especially since it is for a show made for the internet).

I agree that calling Ed a gay ass fairy isn't necessary, but I do miss when Live's music was more about rock and heart rather than bad adult contemporary.

Its actually good adult contemporary. Certain songs do have a ton of heart in Live's newer work.

I'm not going to add to the flames of deciding if Kevin is a good fit for Dahlheimer (I absolutely LOVE the faux-name) or not, because only CT, CG and PD have that decision to make, but I trust them 100% on their decision. The band (well, CT and CG via Twitter anyway) seems to be really excited about this project and genuinely amped to play rockin' music, so more power to them.

Onto other things.

Last night, Candlebox played at the Snoqualmie Casino in Washington and I was at the show... front row, stage left, right in front of the guitarist, Peter Klett. Not only was it one of the most fantastic shows I've ever seen, but Kevin is one HELL of a front man. For approximately 2 hours, he ran around every corner of the stage, shook and high fived hands all night long and rocked the house down. They played a few cover songs as well (more like pieces of Immigrant Song, Crazy Train, Whole Lotta Love and more) and Kevin's voice nailed every single note of every song. He didn't crack once and gave it his all.

10 minutes after the show, the whole band went outside the concert hall to a set of tables and signed autographs for the fans. I met every single member of the band, shook their hands, talked to each of them for a bit and they signed my CD cover. Each one was genuinely happy to talk to all of us, ask us our name and how we liked the show. It's so rare when bands do that... I was very impressed. They were all great. I wish more bands would do that. Live sorta embraced that concept, but Candlebox nailed it, in my opinion.

Anyway, I trust CT, CG and PD and if they want Kevin in their band, we should trust them. We can bitch and argue all we want, but it's going to happen no matter what and in about a month from now (according to CT's tweets, anyway), we'll have new music and we can decide then what we think.

I know this thread will continue on long after I hit Reply, but I wanted to voice my opinion.

Haha, Black Lab is my favorite band after LIVE. I really don't know any fans besides a few of my friends (thanks to me) and the people over on the band's forums. I posted a thread about them in the Other Music section this past winter, but nobody here really knows the band. Just got excited! tongue.gif

How many people were at the show? I don't think you have a large crowd you could get away with having a meet and greet for everyone.

They've always come out to meet the fans pretty soon after at all the shows I've been to, two of which had over 1,000 people. I've also seen them out and with the fans before their own sets.

If the show had significantly more people than that then I don't know if they would, but I'm sure there would be some format of meet and greet.

I don't know how many people were at the show, but the venue is 11,000 square feet, according to the website. Not all the people at the show stayed around and no one even mentioned it. The line formed directly after the show, so some people must have known what was going on, like me. I found out from a security guard right before the show started. He came up to me and asked me if I was going to behave because I had a straight shot at the stage with no one to stop me from going up there. I made him a deal that if I didn't do that, I wanted the setlist from the stage. That's when he told me about the meet and greet afterwards. Nice guy. smile.gif

I was about 30 back from the front of the line, but it extended behind me quite a bit. The line went really fast though, even with all the pictures being taken, autographs and "chit chat" happening.

Ok, at this point I'm starting to wonder why you're going this far to discredit/bring down this band. Fuck, (oh shit I'm ignorant) Ok, you don't like the idea of Kevin in this new band (and don't say otherwise because it's quite clear at this point), so stop questioning Candlebox and their fan interactions.
Anything anyone says about Candlebox/Kevin you come in with another "but.., in my opinion.. what if.. bla bla" trying to nitpick another bad angle about them.

Again, get over it.

I don't like the idea of any singer replacing Ed. Its' nothing personal regarding Kevin Martin. I'm sure hardcore Candlebox fans aren't going to accept our boys out of the gate either. It is just the way it runs. In my opinion, Candlebox was the best band that ever opened for Live. However, while this new arrangement should make for some good music, for me, it is just not the same.

As for a meet and greet, Live is/was a bigger concert draw than Candlebox and it made more sense to run a meet and greet as a fanclub perk rather than for the general population. That was my point, but I probably didn't make it well. However, I always thought that Live should have run their meet and greets in a more organized fashion than they actually ran.
