Ok, so I have been a lurker here forever and sorry I dont ever post, but this is getting ridicilous .....

First, let me give you my street creds. The Cleveland HOB show was my 30th +LIVE+ show, and I have been a diehard fan since the TC tours. SS is by far my favorite album, and my favorite show ever was at Franklin and Marshall Gymnasium back in 1997 when they played to about 500 people at the top of their prime !!!! I treat every +LIVE+ concert like an event/experience .... From the pre-show drinks to the show to the post show drinks ... Everything about seeing them in concert is like an experience, and to have 30 of them, I will never forget any of the shows !!!

Anyways, now that you know how I feel about seeing +LIVE+ live, I have to ask - How many have actually seen Candlebox in concert ??? I have seen CB twice in the past 18 months, and there stage shows are off the chains !!! Kevin Martin is a freak on stage and some of his actions on stage will make Chad Taylors "Stomp" look like childs play - Kevin is all over the stage, climbing on speakers, goes out in the crowd, sings to EVERYONE there to see them, all while maintaining complete control of his voice ....

I hope CB is not done, b/c I enjoy their music very much, but I have to admit, I am overly estatic to hear these two groups mesh up ..... Going to be one extremly electric entertaining show and album !!!

Enough with the sides already !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just wait until you hear them and see them before casting judgement or picking sides .... My god, people around here and what side are you taking is a fuking joke .... So you are telling me that if your two best friends hooked up, got married, had eight kids together, and then both decided to take a little break to date others, you would pick a side and stop caring for one or the other ....

You're right....we are being a bit dumb about this. I guess just like in real life, people tend to take sides in break-ups.

Seriously Nick, FUCK OFF.

Nobody puts an ounce of importance into what you find ignorant. you're such a prissy fanboy sometimes, it's outright sickening.

Well I didn't think you would find excessive cursing ignorant.

Cool, thats all awesome that he's good at gymnastics and such, doesnt change the fact his voice sounds extremely dull.

But like you say, im just going on the candlebox songs I've heard, im willing to give Dalheimer (its the new bands name until I hear otherwise) a fair go and judge that on its own merrits, im really looking forward to what CG, CT and PD can cook up ... theres no coincidence that since their names were removed from the writing credits on Live songs that Live went down hill, the first 4 albums really propelled Live to one of my all time favorite bands, so im excited after so long to hear what these guys can do again when given creative control. Just really hope this Gavin from candlebox doesn't screw it up by going all Matchbox 20 meets generic 80s hard rock band over the top of it.

This might change your mind on the Matchbox 20 thing, something from Kevin's solo work.

Also, I think his work as a solo artist with the HiWatts was better than anything he has done with Candlebox. Their album is fantastic and that makes me stoked to see what he does with other non-Candlebox material.

Candlebox is definitely NOT done. Kevin clearly said this is a side project, and he also said at a recent show that Candlebox would be recording a new album next year.

Why would Chad Taylor tell us to save our ticket stubs to Live's last show, if the new singer is going to half-ass this project. What happens to the new band when Candlebox releases a new album?

Nice, Kevins work with the Hiwatts was awesome.

Don't know what Eams is hearing, maybe his eardrums are on crack. Buddy sounds nothing nowhere near Matchbox 20 esque to me. I find it quite laughable that ANYBODY would actually compare the two.

I'd rather have Martin singing than Ed right now. Sure I'd rather have the OLD ed hands down, but right now, it's no contest. This guys voice isn't fantastic or anything, but it is agressive and it is rock. Go listen to a few of his Zeppelin covers. People are entitled not to like it. Everybody has their own taste and preferences. But Rob Thomas?? That's ridiculously funny and asinine.

I dunno .. I can just hear similarities, maybe not specifically matchbox 20 themselves, but that style but more rocked out. Like matchbox 20 is pussy vocals, this just comes off as pussy disguised in rock vocals or something .. I dunno, he hasn't got a bad voice, like it's not cracking and he's hitting his notes so thats all awesome, its more just a personal preference thing as opposed to saying he's a bad singer.

Also Nick, saying he's going to do a half arsed effort because of the way he worded a throw away comment in a nothing interview is jumping the gun a little. Maybe this whole thing is a side project for CT too, he really is loving his Harvest Moon and im sure will do more of that stuff so its not like this project will have his 100% attention either.

Why would he call it a "break" and then tell us to save our ticket stubs? Who the hell knows, fact is he has contradicted himself numerous times concerning whether this is the end or a break. Since this is a side project for Kevin I would imagine it is a side project for the guys of Live too. Perhaps CT was wrapped up in the moment? It happens.

I don't know what happens to the new band when Candlebox puts out the new album, maybe that is why Live has said they are taking a two year break? That would give time for Ed to do his solo work and for the new band to put out an album and tour it. Then Live and Candlebox would both go on to do their own tours. The time table certainly makes sense.

Is CT going to "half-ass" the new band because he has a lot of movie related projects going on? I doubt it, so I don't see why the same assumption should be made about Kevin's intentions. Clearly the guys from Live are cool with whatever plans he has with Candlebox, so I don't see why we shouldn't be.

Solid effort there, glad we posted the same thing at nearly the exact same time. nod.gif

I can understand where you would hear the Matchbox 20 thing in the softer verses of Candlebox songs, but when he hits the choruses his vocals really soar far more than anything Rob Thomas would ever dream of.

No no, i wasn't saying that CT was going to half ass it, quite the opposite, my point was that he obviously has other things going on and yet is still doing this so it doesn't have to be a side project. Same could be said with Candlebox dude's comment, even though Nick will deny it up and down because he's good at knowing what people mean better than they do ... I doubt CT and the gang would get involved with someone not willing to put in the equal amount of time and effort into the project as they are. I can't honestly see CT bumming around on youtube, seeing that clip and going "WHAT?? HE'S TREATING AS A SIDE PROJECT?? WIFE, FETCH MY WHACKING STICK, THERES GONNA BE TROUBLE!"

We are in agreement, my comment was directed at Nick saying that Kevin would be "half-assing" it just because he has another band. You and I said the same thing, just in different ways.

Don't be down on Kevin Martin till you listen to his stuff with the Hi-Watts. Combining that voice with Pat and the Chads is gonna be great. Asses will be kicked.
