Now that Live is officially over (or on a break if you wish) I wanted to look into what's ahead. Live is actually working two seperate projects that should be in studio in September and August respectively (according to the band).

I don't know what happened but Ed is obviously working on songs that the band doesn't want to do and the band is working on material that Ed doesn't want to sing, so they are now traveling on seperate paths. I'm assuming the band started getting back in the creative process for a new album and didn't see eye to eye. I'm assuming Ed wanted to keep on his spiritual journey and the band wanted to start in a new direction.

I was wondering, as Live fans, which project are you more looking forward to? Personally, I've always thought of Ed as the driving force behind the band (especially for the last few albums) and I've seen the music and lyrics primarily as his. I kind of view his upcoming album as the next Live album that the rest of the band didn''t want to do. I think it will sound just like a Live album would have lyrically and vocally (since Ed is the voice of the band).

I think I'm more interested in seeing what the rest of the band creatively can do. From the accounts I've seen it feels to me like they want to express themselves in a new way by diverting from traditional Live. While I'm interested in hearing what the next "Live" album would have been from Ed I think I'm more interested in what the rest of the band thinks Live should or could be.

Wondering which you would consider to be more of a continuation of Live (if either) and if any of you had thoughts on these seperate entities?

CG + PD + CT > Some random backing band for Ed.

So what's your point? Didn't add anything much to the topic and we *still don't know* if the Candlebox thing is true.

As Hoodie said, we know Ed's sound. I'm 99.9 percent sure that I will love his solo work. The new band is a real question mark. I'm sure that I will like some of the new songs, but its a real wild card.

Concert wise: Ed sings songs from the Live catalog and will be working in more new material shortly, we're not sure that the new band will sing at all. If the new band doesn't cover any Live or Candlebox songs(if the rumor holds true), than they will be relying on their new material and covers to get through. A tough feat indeed.

Once we hear how the new singer sounds with Chad, Pat, and Gracey, we can make a better judgement.

I think SFBM II would be easily possible of Ed wants to. Not to diss CT, CG and PD (because all 3 are very good), but there influence in the creative proces of that album was almost zero. So with a backing band a new SFBM would be possible. But I don't think Ed will make a traditional Live album (but with acoustic guitar). I think there good be more influences, especially with Ed's musical taste for rap music for example. We may see a quite diverse album.

Kinda 50/50 for both - curiosity with a little garnish of apprehension to add to the excitement.

im going with ed (even though im excited about both), simply because zion is such a quality song, and if the solo album can keep that kind of quality throughout then thats what i wanna see more. Its ed's spirituality and lyrics which attracted me to live in the first place.

I'm really excited for both, because if Ed goes down the route of Zion (and keeps his newer falsetto-less approach) and Dalheimer (s'gotta be the band's name lol.gif) is going to sound like the demos... then it should be win win all around!

No vote here.

Obviously, 'The CG, CT, PD Project' sounds pretty exciting, based on their brief teasers.
However, I'm not writing off Ed just yet. Let's see what the man can bring to the table.

With no walls barring their creative movement, we expect nothing but the best from both camps.

This is it, no excuses.

I'm glad Hoodstock didn't add a third option "I'm looking forward EQUALLY to both projects", because then all you fence-sitters would have an excuse for not making a choice. tongue.gif

Although I can't wait to hear what both groups are going to come up with, Chad's project is much more intriguing. We already know what Ed's capable of doing and what sort of music he's going to come up with (though he could surprise us), but anything could come from CT + PD + CG. The stuff I've heard so far from these guys is very promising. Once a vocalist is added to the mix I think we're going to have a fine rock group in the making.

Its all gonna come down to the vocalist for me I think, they could really make or break it.

Yeah, but despite what fanboy Nick and many others think, anything will pretty much be an improvement on Ed.

I just can't stand listening to his high pitched, off tone, gay ass voice anymore. It's so fake, it makes me want to slap the fuck out of him. I listen to take me up to zion and I think, this is Ed. I listen to him on his EDK site and in concert and I think "what a fucking fairy ass homo."

Just sing, we know you can. You guys go back to MJ and listen to him, especially on songs like You are the World and Good Pain. His voice is strong, raspy. He sings with passion and conviction.

Now all I hear is the this fake ass, half falsetto crap that makes me want to puke. I honestly cannot stand the sound of his fucking voice anymore. It's putrid. Stop trying to be some sort of fucking Liberace and just let it go. Sing like you care. Take me up to Zion was a shock to me. I watch the Tin Angel video on youtube and it's shocking to me. He sounds great, like the old days...like he has some passion left. Then I listen to him in concert and I want to leave. The show was good and the band sounded great. But Ed was just acting and singing like a fucking idiot. Anybody who thinks he sounds good nowadays is simply not facing the truth.

Go listen to the real Ed way back and listen to him now. He can still sing like that, just as he does in Zion. He just refuses to, just as he refuses to make real music anymore like he did back then. Bet my life that it's the biggest reason Pat and Chad told him to go fuck himself too.
