With all the recent talk about the "end" of live (thanks nick) emotions in the liveyverse have been runnning high, certainly for me anyway, at the thought that our favourite little spiritually motivated quartett may be finally laying down their megaphones and going on to bigger and possibly better things.

We all have our favourite song, or the song we feel is the most technically proficient, or the one that sold the best or the one that "everyone else" likes, but what i want to know is if live is truly about to stage their final dramatic performance as it were, what one song would be worthy, in YOUR eyes, as being their last one played together?

I was drinking a bottle of tenet estate 05 shiraz, deep in thought, and we deal in dreams came up on my playlist. I honestly wanted to cry. I was flooded with sadness and joy. So strange. Not my favourite song by a long shot. But if it were the last they would play, it would be ever so fitting. In the feelings of the rain. Wow.

What is everyones ideal Live swan song?

Feel the Quiet River Rage

TDTH is my favorite album of all time by any band, and really encompases all aspects of this band that make them very special to me. This song has a great tempo and tone, going from acoustic simplicity to a rocking crescendo, and Ed's lyrics give this band and this particular song the depth and connection that I will never share with any other band.

Don't believe that the world is empty, it's just too noisy to hear the sound

They'll probably just end up doing Dance with you or White Discussion.

White Discussion is always a good one, its such an epic song in concert and really fits the saying "go out with a bang".

Personally theres a few that'd be nice .. Good Pain, the first "Live" song, the closing song on their first albums and to a lot of their early shows.

An alternate version of Forever would fit really well. In my dreams Ed announces, "This break is going to give us time to grow as musicians and inspire us to go new directions. New directions, new experiences, new music, new people, new countries, NEW CITY!!" and then they would play New City in all it's glory.

It's gotta be White Discussion.

The only choice

as the final sunset rolls behind the Earth
and the clock is finally dead
I'll look at you, you'll look at me
and we'll cry a lot
but this will be what we said
this will be what we said

Definitely Dance with You for me. Months before TDTH was released, I obtained a few promos of the record, which contained this song. Nobody had heard it yet (this was 1999, before albums really got leaked online). I was hounded for WEEKS and eventually gave up the 6-song demo. I have always thought that this would be Live's ender of all enders.

According to a report by zmanpga, the last song was "White, Discussion" (as it should be!)

It was hard to see them closing with anything else, they really made that into THE concert finisher.
