I would put more stock in the words of Gracey. He seems to be a little more level headed:

I like his seciond quote. Sounds like the songs are going to rock and have some complexity in them. Can't wait to hear them.

First of all I'm sincerely hoping for the best with more Live to come in the near future.

That being said, it appears to me that something has slowly evolved and there's a definate problem here and they won't come out and say it. They're just claiming it's a break like Ross and Rachel when it has to go deeper.

First they were supposed to work on a new album that was coming out this summer, then they started writing new stuff (as evident by them playing Believe), and now Ed has a seperate website and the entire band is planning a new road without him while Ed is touring and playing all the old Live shit. Reminds me of Foggerty a little bit.

Also, Chad just wrote that long blog about the needing a break and now he's posting this stuff. It seems like emotions are running and they're not sure what's going on.

I could see that Live was taking a two year break if it was everyone doing their own thing or two of them working together, but it's the whole damn band minus Ed setting up a new band. That's not a break from each other, that's more like "fuck Ed" to me.

Even if it is a two year break that means that with the creative and experimental process it would be at least 3-4 years for a new album from the band if they got back together exactly two years after the "break".

If they do take a longer break than two years I can't see them ever making a new complete album again. They would probably tour again on the old stuff, release a few new songs that tease, or maybe (if we're lucky) put out one more "we're throwing ourselves back together" album that probably won't have the chemistry and won't mesh.

By the way, where did all the Canldebox singer info come from?

Who says someone wants to measure things up? Of course, they are all doomed to be compared to Live. But who says it is what they want? Didn't Audioslave start a completely new venture with only hearing whines about "RATM was beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetter" during the first album and becoming a great band soon after?

Then. From another thread. Who says that the last 3 albums are bad? Why the fuck do you guys keep crying over the fact that the musicians were unhappy with something? With Ed creating? With them providing him with their musical abilities/ WHO ARE YOU TO FUCKING JUDGE? I am sorry and never meaning to offend anyo9ne, but sometimes you do sound really immature.

Dammit, we all love Live differently, but now we receive 2 new musical products to be enjoyed and discussed by all of us. TWICE AS MUCH god damn! And let them forever remain the MUSIC of Live and the VOICE of Live. Even separately.

Nothing will ever turn my back to the band and each and every person in it.

I read the blog and then you can read twitter. The Chad's are commenting on moving on and Ed mentions nothing about the last show or anything. Seems like he's in denial.

So, yeah, I had to post something for old times sake. Thanks to Live for all the memories over the past 16 years. Its sad that is over but its exciting to move on as well.

We lit a candle, we took a seat for the ride and it was a great one.

I also wanted to log in and post for old times sake...hard to believe the ride is coming to an end. I am sad, but I actually mourned the passing of the band as I knew and loved it years ago.

I am thankful for all of the great friends I have made, and the incredible albums that are a part of the fabric of my life.

I can't wait to hear the new band!!!!

While all the postings have sort of confirmed that Live is through, what Existentialist said is VERY true. After following this band for years and years, I completely agree that CT is notorious for blowing things out of proportion and getting ahead of himself.

But then again, with all that has happened in the Live community in the last 2 months...who the fuck knows?

But when Chad Taylor posts "Live is not dead – it’s on vacation" - what else can he mean? Live is not dead/over/done forever, just on vacation/taking time off/on a break.

Seems simple enough to me.
