Here are some clips I took from the show last night at the Virgin Festival.

Gas Hed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r33v8YD1HYw
Turn My Head: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nj9HE-XiI4Q
Iris: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7-HLYBxojIM

The setlist was something like:

Top
All Over You
Selling The Drama
Forever
Gas Hed
I Alone
The Dolphin's Cry
Lakini's Juice
Heaven
Iris
Sophia
Lightning Crashes

Probably not the right order, and I could be missing some. Not much band interaction at all, they seemed to be just going through the motions. Maybe because they only had an hour set. After seeing the band 20 something times though, I can say something was off. It might have been the fact that it was a festival show, full of 17 year olds counting down the seconds for Live to get off stage so they could see Akon (who ended up cancelling). Or maybe the boys are just loosing interest. The Virgin radio station here in Montreal RARELY plays Live, and when they do, its always Lightning Crashes. So it was an odd line-up for Live to be part of, but I'm glad they were included, even if 75% of the crowd weren't interested.

I gotta say - LIVE sound incredible as a band these days, GASHED and TMH were fantastic sound and performance wise...they sound almost CD quality. Which is great.

But during any of those performances the chemistry between the band doesn't seem to be what it was - CT & EK were always like Bro's onstage not in these.

Final thought - if the guys do festival shows like these with punk audiences who don't know or appreciate songs like TMH why not do up a rock setlist with songs like; lighthouse, Like I do, TSUFL (guitars) LJ - just big loud rockers to shut the punks up and make 'em take notice???

Yes, but seeing theose videos made me realize that for the most part that was far from a typical LIVE audience and in reality they were just bystanders. The band sounded good and I would've been rockin' my ass off to hear Iris. Oh well.

true, the audience average age looked about 17 in those (very good quality) vids, thanks heaps for sharing those. I'm so happy they brought Gas Hed back into the setlist, it just seems like such an "un live" type song now given the last couple of albums they've made. You're right about them chemistry not being there in those videos, but then again they were never always having a hug fest on stage on every song. I still say people are looking way too far into things that might not even be there.

The fact that veteran American rock band Live delivered the most rockin' set of the weekend tells you something. The group's 90s/post-grunge heyday may be well behind it, but its sound stood out on a weekend dominated by bubblegum radio fodder.

Singer Ed Kowalczyk was right at home in front of the late-afternoon crowd, belting out his emotional anthems with trademark intensity. Even power-ballads like Gas Hed Goes West were tinged with hard rock vigour.

Where fellow radio-rock acts like Nickelback are happy getting dumb, Kowalczyk's philosophical aspirations bring relative substance to his songs. His band's aesthetic is now distinctly dated, but was effective nonetheless.

Emphasizing the word "great" in bold doesn't do them justice. They are fantastic pics. The photog must've had pit and/or stage access.

Wow those are great pics! I think I was standing right next to that guy actually, he had a crazy huge professional camera. Very nice.

The setlist was something like (not in the right order):

Top
All Over You
Selling The Drama
Gas Hed Goes West
The Dolphin's Cry
I Alone
Turn My Head
Forever
Lakini's Juice
The Distance
Hold Me Up
They Stood Up For Love
Heaven

ENCORE
Sophia
Lightning Crashes

This was such a great show, I've seen the band about 30 times now, and this was for sure one of the best I have seen in a couple of years now. The guys were SO into it and having such a great time on stage. They seemed happy to be on stage, and weren't just going through the motions. They definintely are giving it their all for these last 4 shows. Oh! And Gracey must have finally put his foot down and said NO to the plexiglass, because there was none around him.

There was a bit of drama before Live took the stage. Busta Rhymes was scheduled to play before Live at 7pm on the main stage. He showed up late, and came on at 8 (when Live were supposed to start on the second stage) and he played for a half hour. The crowd were chanting "SHUT BUSTA DOWN" and "LIVE LIVE LIVE" A very enthusiastic crowd, it was awesome! Judging from Chad T's Twitter - they weren't very pleased with Busta. And then at 9:30 STYX came on the main stage and started to play during Live's encore. Ed gave them the finger and said something like "I dont know what they're playing over there, but I'm pretty sure this next song will be better!" It was hilarious. Live were supposed to play from 8:00 to 9:30, but they ended up playing from about 8:30 to 9:45. So they lost about 15 minutes.

Hold Me Up was AWESOOOME! WOW I'm so glad I got to see it. THIS is Live. And The Distance has never sounded better in my oppinion, some awesome guitar solos in there.

I also recorded Top, I'll post it on YouTube soon for you guys to see.

Anyway, great show, great crowd, a great was to end this Live era. I can't wait to see what they come back with in a couple of years.

Oh, and no group hug, but they all came to the front and took a bow, as usual. There was lots of love on stage, thats for sure.

Yep, one huge difference was the fact that the band played supernatural for the first time since I can remember.

The place was at full capacity surprisingly and the crowd was pretty loud after about half the show.

Supernatural and Waitress were definately highlights. Taylor went nuts for quite awhile during Waitress with some crazy ass mix. Best song of the night for sure.
