Music without words can stimulate limitless thoughts and emotions.

Probably not their cup of tea as Live, but then, they used to be a band who reinvented themselves with every album.

So, even with Ed around (he can play the guitar anyway), such a concept for a future album would be very interesting.

Agree on instrumental music being very powerful, but the fact that Chad mentions a tour tells me there is a new singer. I could see an instrumental album/soundtrack etc. but not if they are planning to tour.

Well why not? Sure it can be done, with a little stretch of creativity. And besides, all albums are supported in the setlists anyway.

I'd be STOKED to see LIVE move on witout Ed. Ed has been the sole reason for this bands decline.

Ever since he took over writing all the music, it has sucked gorilla cock. V, BOP, SFBM...fucking garbage, all attributed to Ed. Fuck him and his falsetto and cracked out voice.

I knew something was up when all of a sudden he popped out of the woods with his EDDIEKLIVE bullshit. Selling this and that, pretending to be mister fan friendly all of a fucking sudden. Didn't anyone else notice all that crap?

Hearing Pat, Chad and Chad let loose, is what I've wanted to see for years. The boys who created shit like Lakini's Juice and let Ed sing along.

Until ed's ego took over and thought it somehow gave him the power to change the entire creative structure. Don't know why the rest of the guys let him do it in the first place.

I'm more than happy to watch his ass go and would be even happier to see it never come back. Taylor and Pat D are a trillion times more creative and I'd love to hear some new shit from them. Taylor has that bluesy Gene in him, ala god don't never change....and pat is one of the most underrated bassists I've ever heard of.

The best thing that ever could have happened to Live was for Ed to take his fake ass persona and take a flying fuck off a short cliff. I've been tired of his fakeness for a long time. Even on stage, he used to have such an Aura until his "look at me!" ego took over. Fuck him, hopefully he gets lost and doesn't find his way back...

I agree with you Luke on all your points. Pat and the Chads always have been the real talent of the band, and out of those three I actually think CT is the least talented. CG and Pat are the best drummer/bassist lineup in modern rock history, in my opinion. CT is certainly a capable guitarist.
The boys and whoever else they add will undoubtedly produce some great music and I look forward to hearing it.

That said, this is the true end of an era. Whether or not this is an official break up, it is clear that the band is officially going in different directions, something I really never thought we'd see. For as wacky as Ed became in later years, I always figured he'd keep it together enough for the sake of keeping LIVE as it always had been. I guess he finally completely lost it. I just registered fuckeddiek.com.

Would have to have backing instruments for me. Acoustic sounds great as an alternative but not the main product. Not enough depth or elements to really sink your teeth into in my opinion to keep a long lasting energy. Too much of the same sonically.

I have you ever heard a Bob Dylan album?

I'm excited to see what CT is up to...I just listened to "Ain't No Use" on repeat for the last half hour. If the result of all of whatever is going on is some good music, I'm open to it.

My thoughts as of now:

I personally think that Eddie will do pretty well on his own. He has an amazing stage presence and his solo show was exceedingly entertaining. Not only that, but he's seems really into this solo project and I have faith that his CD is going to be excellent.

Less certain about Chad's project, but if it ends up Taylor, Pat, Gracey, and Kevin from Candlebox things will be very interesting. It would bring two already established fanbases to a new project. You also know that certain songs on the new disc would rock.

One thing that is for certain, Live seems to be done for the forseeable future. Its sad, but the band members seem more excited now than they have for many years. I'm ready to support and excited as to whats to come.

My only question is where does this leave Adam? Oh, and does Hoodie owe me an apology? tongue.gif

guess Adam gets more time for his solo (and band) carreer now as well!
btw, don't agree at all with the statement that PD and CG are the 'real' talents in this band. Ed is a really talented singer and writer in my opinion. His voice is really special at some times, and come on... he wrote LC. Not tallented huh? nod.gif

Agreed. Ed is an amazing performer and was the chief songwriter on every Live song ever created. It can't be denied that the guy is super-talented.

Do you think Eddie's album will end up being acoustic, or will he get a back-up band in there?

I somehow think that it will be a full-band acoustic stuff, actually. Something like Travis Meeks did yanno.

That could be kinda cool .. harking back to the MTV unplugged days. Wonder if Ed will play piano on any tracks?

Hence his abilities in the home gig... Hardly. Not to bring him down, I must say he handles an acoustic guitar much better than piano.

actually it would be grand if the fully-avoustic record could also be backed-up by some funky organ or something.

Anyway, we all are still just speculating for now. Too bad I am going on a holiday today and will not be updated on the stuff in the live-land...
