I'm not really that interested about knowing when they start recording new material. A new album is going to come. Eventually. It's not a matter of "if", but "when".
Concert recordings on the other hand is something brand new for Ed and Live. I'm very curious in seeing whether they're successful (ie. how many sales are being made) and whether they will extend to extend to Live's shows as well.

I'm willing to bet that Ed is seeing more profit in the sales of his solo show recordings than he did with a CD sale of SFBM. Money talks and if the band can make some easy $$ selling mp3s/flacs/videos then I'm all for it.

May also incourage them to keep the setlist changing as well, as releasing lots of different bootleg recordings of the same setlist is not a good idea so hopefully that's a positive.

Newst blog from Ed:

From the road....

Friday, Jun 12th, 2009

hello everybody! hoping this blog finds you all happy and healthy. yesterday afternoon in vegas I tweeted a quick invite and met up with 6 or 7 wonderful EK twitterites who got a one song soundcheck in scorching vegas heat...but i think they were ok with it. smile.gif Before i left to come out on the road I was writing more music. The feel of it is really intimate and inspirational, kind of like a conversation with a friend. i want to write a group of songs that really work as an album. I still believe in the album as an artform, even if some people end up chopping it up itunes style. it helps me to frame the writing process, not just random "single" songs but a trip through my heart-mind. of course, i'm fine with however people digest it, whole or in pieces like a pizza...maybe i'll call it "no slices" like john's pizza on bleecker st. lol. Feel free to hang out for a bit, kick up your feet, it's cool.... wink.gif
ek
PS: a couple new photos up

Layne Staley Tribute

Saturday, Jun 13th, 2009

Hey all,
I'm excited to announce that I'll be headlining the Layne Staley Tribute concert this year in Seattle, WA. (Click on tour dates page for details.) I count Alice in Chains as a significant influence/inspiration of mine in the early 90's. Layne's voice had a quality that was pure rock soul. You couldn't listen to him sing and not be immediately compelled and drawn into a realm of deep emotion. To me, Alice in Chains will always be the "heaviest" band that I've ever heard or felt. I got a chance to meet Jerry Cantrell about a month ago in Los Angeles. He was kind enough to indulge the super fan in me by detailing his influences and how he got to that incredible place musically that was at once gothic chant, led zeppelin and the beatles wrapped up into one...incredible story. Needless to say, in Socal surfer parlance, I am STOKED to be a part of the show. See you there!

Bit disappointing that it's the same songs with nothing new (ie Take me up to Zion), but I suppose he's saving that for the album.
Interestingly I tried to purchase a track just to get a taste of the quality of this bootleg but something seems broken, whenever you try to "review order" it tells you that you need to select a shipping option, and unless im totally blind i can't see anywhere on the page that gives you any shipping options.

This was fixed. I had tweeted Ed shortly after posting in this thread. He RT'd my tweet and said it was fixed.

My five seconds of fame in the Live community was overshadowed by all the "Live is doomed" discussion.

I bought the bundle, I've purchased all three, I'm not rich but I spending the $15 on each one is no big deal, considering I get lots of free lunches and such with my career. I really like the acoustic stuff alot, but again that's because I play acoustic guitar and have a different attention to detail and appreciation than the average consumer, that and I don't mind to support Ed or this band one bit.

If you are on a strict budget, then I'd pass on the audio cause its VERY similar to the Bootleg2. The video files are new though, I didn't have a video of acoustic performance of "Mirror Song' or "Nobody Knows"

All of Eddie's tour dates have vanished from FriendsofLive. I guess he is really splitting.

guess his website will soon turn into EddieK.com, instead of EddieKlive.com ? lol.gif unless 'live' stands for he's doing live shows, but the website seems not only for that.

The solo dates should be on his website to avoid any confusion, so I hope that's all it is about. I could see why they put them on the band site for a while until people get used to the solo site. Not going to panic until anything official is released, but credit to Nick for voicing his unpopular opinion which definitely has some merit to it. How you interpret the news as positive or negative is your own opinion.
