0o0o0 Interpretation!

Most of TC is just Krishnamurti. One of my favourite lines is "I'll read to you here, save your eyes." from I alone. He is speaking from the preacher on the cover of the albums' perspective. They read the books and tell you how it is but Ed thinks we shouldn't rely on teachers but to figure it out for ourselves. nod.gif

This next song has been rolling through my head throughout the thread. All I need may suck lyrically but everytime you see the word "god" or "love" in Live lyrics you can interchange them.

That my love (god) is here to stay
My love (god) is here to stay
Open your heart, you can find your own way
I found they're all the same
But my love (god) is here to stay

It says that Ed thinks there is more than one path to god (love)

Consider the rest of the song as well. It makes sense.

That's possible, but still pretty open, i mean by that way of thinking you could replace the word "Pain" with "God" in PLOTR or something which could totally change things, but I honestly don't think its the case. To me a song like All I Need is exactly what it looks like on face value, singing to a girl, he's even stated that the majority of that album is inspired by the females in his life etc..

heh this whole thing reminds me of South Park when Cartman would replace words like "baby" in songs with Jesus:

"I wanna get down on my knees and start pleasing Jesus, I wanna feel his salvation all over my face".

As for the "I'll read to your here, save your eyes" ... I agree with your view above Badman, but I also think it ties in nicely with TBD too.

I think it all is much more down to earth, if you wanna call it so. I mean, it is highly spiritual, but without any trace of GOD there.

Ed has the stereotruth.net Twitter identified as one that he is following, so I guess this is really legit. I'm not sure that I am comfortable with where this is going.

And stepping back, we are suddenly getting regular, silly little doses of everything going on in alter-ego "Eddie's" life except for bowel movements, an Eddie solo album, video blogs with a capella serenades that made me uncomfortable as a heterosexual man and must have made my wife think that I have lost it, and leanings toward Christian rock and proclamations of an almost born-again status. What exactly has happened over the last few weeks? What does this mean for Live? I don't really see Chad Taylor and the others vesting themselves in some of this, particularly the Christianity stuff. Chad really seems to be a free thinking mystical spiritualist. I want my favorite rock band back. Anybody else getting nervous?

This guy's ego is beyond control. And all this twittering and taking pictures of himself and whatnot. he acts like a 15 year old girl or something. Buddy is in love with himself. It just goes to show you all this soul searching in his life and past religious journeys went nowhere and seem like a big sham. I'm done with this tool.

I think that's a bit harsh.

But you bring up a point about ego and Twittering that I would like to address. When I talk about ego, I do not refer to ego as in "I am so great" but rather I refer to ego in the eastern spirituality sense. I find Facebook, Myspace, Youtube, Twitter, and sometimes to some extent message board postings to be an enemy of nondual, non-attachment, egoless existence. By its very nature it is about drawing attention to one's self, seeking the observation and feedback of others and fortifies a seperate ego self. I think these internet outlets throw fuel on the fire of the ego mind and present a big challenge to someone's spiritual practice and development. They are crack for the ego! It feeds into the craving and attachment of the ego mind. By it's very nature it causes you to focus on "out there" and places focus and value on the very essence of that which takes us away from awakening. Not to mention the addiction and attachment to the thing itself. Constantly checking your accounts and the accounts of others takes you out of the present moment and focuses your mind on the "out there" and someone else. Instead of sitting and enjoying a present moment at home with family, you are Twittering about the chips you are eating. That's not being present and Awakened. That's about telling someone else out there about you and seeking their attention. I feel sorry for our "look at me, I want to be noticed and heard and liked and affirmed" culture. I don't think it is spiritually or emotiionally healthy and we have a lot of kids growing up in this environement as the norm. What kind of spoiled, self-indulgent, ego-filled, impersonal distant people will this generation become? I think that there is a way to participate in such things from a non-egoic point of view, but I think that they are like crack for the ego mind and I don't think most people are able to participate in things like Facebook, Myspace, Youtube or Twitter without it throwing gasoline on their ego's fire.

Hmm, I thought I went easy on him. For all the talk this guys does he (Live) hasn't done anything interesting or original artistically in many years.
But whatever, I guess Live's music just doesn't do it for me anymore. I'll always have the first 4 albums.
Sure it sucks to see one of my favourite bands drop so low, but what can you do. Move on I guess. Luckily there are so many other bands doing much more interesting things.

Twitter is a great way for artists to be in touch with their fans. I think anything beyond that is reading too much into it. How many of us have ever wanted to know what goes on behind the scenes? Now we do!

Fair enough on that, but I do like hearing about what the band is doing on Chad T.'s Twitter, and the songs Ed is writing. He does a good job of interacting too. Take the good with the bad I guess.

If Live had used Twitter when they kicked ass I think I would have been in heaven.

What a great conversation we had here the last few weeks. Our friends Carlos & Abby at Spirit FM in Tampa Bay, FL talked directly to Ed about his new music and how his new life in Christ lines up with it. Get all the facts directly from Ed himself now http://www.stereotruth.net/2009/06/exclusi...ddie-from-live/

well thanks Stereo!

This (new?) interview let Ed talking about some things I've never heard before. Interesting!

Besides that, I'm scared about new music. Ed says to 'release a solo album at some point'. Twice. No mention of a new LIVE album. Well maybe your interview wasn't just meant to talk about Live (I dunno), but actually this is the first time I start to doubt if we ever get a traditional Live album ever again. I don't see it happen soon. Mention about a new album is going on since late 2006, and 2007, but it goes up and down: "we want to release an album soon" and than again you don't hear anything about it for two years! I know they have been busy (such as releasing the DVD etc.), but I don't count on a new Live in the coming years. Maybe some downloads when they record a few new songs like Forever and Purifier.
And if there would be a re-release of TC, I guess we would have heard about it, especially as the interviewers talked about the TC album, without ED saying anything about a re-release.

Stereotruth, tnx for posting anyway! thumbsup.gif Interesting interview.

I know what you mean. I feel like I've been giving them the benefit of the doubt for the last 3 albums and it's getting old me letting them ride on the love I had for TC, SS and TDTH. The new tracks like Forever just grate on my nerves they are so dull and trite. Hell, I've not even forked out for that Live at Paradiso DVD/CD yet - just don't care.

I think this exposure with Twitter is a double-edged sword. On one hand, yeah it's great that we're kept up to date and everything but at the same time I'm seeing a guy who I've always looked to for inspiration and direction using 'LOL' in every other sentence, as well as writing what I sometimes see to be quite naive things like 'LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL' or whatever. I mean, is he losing touch? I don't know what to think sometimes. It's like he lives in a different dimension free from the struggles we know, or something.
