That's a bullshit excuse. The length for Throwing Copper is approximately 55 minutes 40 seconds. A standard CD holds 74 minutes and some artists have even put 80 minutes on there, so 'running out of space' is factually incorrect.

If Live really wanted to include Hold Me Up and Susquehanna on TC, then there's no technical reason why they couldn't.

14 out of 16? that makes 2 other recorded songs in the TC sessions
which two from Hold Me Up, We Deal in Dreams and Susquehanna?

This is awesome news if done correctly!!

But, will it be done correctly?

In a perfect world...

-Hold Me Up, Susquahanna, We Deal in Dreams, and any other TC era bonus track worked into the tracklist.
-DVD of the MTV Unplugged Performance.
-Remastered with full dynamic range, I don't think the album needs remixing otherwise.
-Studio quality Supernatural cover.
-Booklet with neat facts about the album.
-Chad Gracey replica backwards hat in the $200 deluxe edition. nod.gif

I doubt it was a technical reason. Record companies have all kinds of funny rules when it comes to these sort of things. I honestly doubt they even picked the 14 songs.

There are 3 known unreleased songs though right? Hold Me Up, Susquehanna, and We Deal In Dreams?

It REALLY felt like they are going to at least give us a studio recording of Hold Me Up. They mentioned how it "ended up in a funny movie." I think they have received a lot of feedback from the "porno" movie about people loving the song. And for what it's worth, it sounds incredible live. I'm not sure how frequent they play Hold Me Up, but I'm glad I finally got to hear it the way it was meant to be heard.

Hey, Dan, this could be an excuse if it was a demand of the record company.

Yeah, I'd say it was highly likely that the record company imposed a limit on the number of tracks that made it on the album. So, blame the record company, don't make up some crap about not having enough room.

Ed used the same reasoning re: the Paradiso DVD. In a recent interview he blamed the lack of space on the dvd as one of the reasons for not including the full Paradiso show. Because everybody knows it's impossible to fit 2.5 hours on a DVD... rolleyes.gif

Isn't Throwing Copper 59 minutes long though? I don't recall many CDs being longer than that during that time period.

I may have quoted/interpreted him wrong. He may have said something like they only had 14 slots and 16 songs to go in them.

I don't think I ever read that interview before, but what I find FANTASTIC about it is one little line, when Ed was talking about listening back to SFBM recently and he said:

"when I listen to that record now I wish I would have put a couple of rockers on there. "

I really hope he means that and that Album 8 will rectify that. Judging by Forever, Purifier and Believe, I think he's keeping to his promise.

Have been thinking much of this btw.

I am all for it. A re-release, with remastered versions of the songs possibly and with the bonuses a.k.a. at least Susquehanna and Lift Me Up re-recorded, plus possibly WDID also in there, and maybe with a bonus DVD, just like Pearl Jam did with Ten - MTV unplugged commercially released finally. That would be of much profit I bet. And possibly another bonus CD with some early rare soundboard show.

This actually goes pretty well together with Ed's idea of recording both his and Live shows and releasing them either online or as CDs, pretty much reminds of what Pearl Jam also started doing several years ago.

Maybe Live are (unfortunately) not that popular as the upper-mentioned, but it definitely will profit for the band and I bet get fans more and more involved with what is going on.

and maybe there's another reason why the likes of Iris, Waitress, Shit Towne, DAOC and WD weren't on the Paradiso DVD. Perhaps they're saving those Paradiso performances as a nice addition to the TC re-release?! -sigh- i wish.
