badman.... if i ever met ed, i'd have absolutely no problems asking him such questions. but, i wonder how ed would feel, today, about being the one who helped you turn from God???? if he's truly a Christian, today.... he'd feel terrible. did you tell him that he helped you "know you're an atheist" with his songs? did you thank him for that? seems like a weird thing to do, huh?

Pssshhh No. I didn't tell him about my religious ideas because I knew that might affect whatever answer I got from him. I dunno that he woulda felt bad... He seems really flowing when it comes to this stuff so he would have been like "If if feels right inside, do it."

if he's TRULY a Christian... then you're completely wrong about all of your assumptions. first, a true Christian isn't gonna tell you what they believe based on what you say you believe. second, if he's truly a Christian he WOULD feel terrible about turning anyone from God. that's only the opposite of what a Christian is suppose to do.

I seriously doubt that Ed fits your narrow definition of "true" Christianity. Ed said himself:

"No, I like to make my music open for anyone even if they aren't of my religion"

So to say that wasn't an assumption, it was what Ed actually said. So I guess he is still going to get all roasty toasty in the afterlife with the rest of us on this board eh?

well, i'm not gonna get into a pissing match with you about what someone else said... but, he said that his music was open for anyone even if they aren't of my religion. to me that means that his music doesn't necessarily dictate what he truly believes.

i totally get what you're trying to do. you're actling like the black man that tries his best to get you to call him a N****ER... and then gets all mad when you do. i'm not gonna say that anyone is going anywhere in the afterlife... that's not my decision.

You already told us that if we don't believe Jesus is the only way to salvation then we aren't TRUE Christians. I'm just trying to help you reach your own logical conclusion.

Back to Ed, if he were a "true" Christian wouldn't he want his music to reflect that and to be openly Christian so it can point people to God?

I am not even going to touch your offensive racial comparison.

Two kinds of christians in my book

1) They follow all the rules in the bible... even the ones that contradict each other and will go to "heaven"

2) Everyone else who follows Jesus and tries to be like him but can't follow all the rules.

You and Ed fall in the same group so don't you Judge Ed's religious strength. Go back your own thread.

i don't know... i don't know eds thoughts when he's writing his songs.

maybe he doesn't want to come right out and say that he's talking about Jesus cause maybe he's afraid that he'd lose a lot of his fan base.

or maybe he just wants to be able to reach out and let people know that there IS "something greater" than us out there, but he's not gonna tell you what you should believe that "something greater" is.

maybe he just wants to tug at your soul strings and make you want to find that "something greater". and, if you do... great. but, you did it cause you wanted to find what that "something" is and not cause somebody told you what that "something" is.

maybe he thinks if he can just get everyone to start believing in "something" then that's better than believing in nothing.

if LIVE started playing their new stuff on Christian radio... they'd only be singing to current Christians. if they leave their "intent" open for interpretation.. then maybe they can touch a non believer in a way that'll, maybe, turn that person into someone who wants to believe in something. and, that "something" may turn out to be Jesus.

I like the discussion within this thread but the basic premise of the debate flat out sucks ass. Ed is not a fundamental Christian. I do believe he has lost some of that angst, some of that religious pessimism that he had in his youth but that doesn't mean he has signed up for this one religion or anyone one religion at all.

To me, this stinks of a fundamental Christian's wishful thinking becoming a delusion.

Ed's just as much a Buddhist, Muslim or Hindu as he is a Christian. Get over the anecdotes unless you're willing to objectively examine all anecdotes submitted by others. There was a twit by Ed recently in which he made a statement along the lines of being on a multi-religion kick. There's no room for "multi-religion" in Christianity.

I've tried to say this like twice already, so good luck! lol.gif

ok, well, i've seen this stated: Now, before you listen to their new song “Forever” you must first learn that their lead singer Ed Kowalczyk’s has stated that his heart and soul has been redeemed, rebooted and restarted by the Lord Jesus Christ.

and, this goes along with badman's(i think) statement of when he asked ed if he was a Christian and ed said "yes, that's the road that i've been on the past few years".

now, show me you're statement of him being on a multi-religious kick. and, if the statement is refering to his spirtual path throughout his life... then yes, i'd agree that's a multi-religious thing. but, if he is a Christian.... then that's all he is.

Perhaps you can show me where Ed even eludes that Forever has Christian inspiration. On his recent bootleg recording he flat out says it's supposed to be a song to make you feel better. Do you want Ed to be a Jesus-poster boy this much that you resort to making things up?

Sure thing, from Ed's twitter:

QUOTE
I'm on the non-dual universal Truth of all religions tip and its all Stu Davis' fault! lol
6:23 PM May 8th from web

then there is:

QUOTE
or by demons, heaven or hell. " - Buddha
9:56 PM May 6th from web

How many devout Christians do you know go around quoting Buddha in their twitter pages. Sure he quoted some Moses as well, does that make him a psuedo-Jew half Christian man as well? It's right there in black and white. He is on a MULTI-RELIGION kick. Quit inferring shit. Shouldn't you be protesting at an abortion clinic or damning gays to hell instead of arguing one man's supposed Christianity on the internet?

We should rename this gotigrz character. I'm thinking maybe something like 'Hoodie v2'.

He sure gets owned a lot 'round here.

i'm not arguing anything about ed. i've repeatedly said "if he is a true Christian...". i'm not stating that he is... i'm just going by what the original poster of this thread stated through an article.

i have never protested anything, and i don't damn anyone to hell... they damn theirselfs.
