Just listened again. I think it's okay, yeah. Should be an okay album song. I really like the start with the bass and Ed's voice in the beginning. Then it does kind of get a little generic, but it's cool. Better than most SFBM stuff, certainly.

I just don't get it. As musicians, don't they sit down and ask themselves how far they can take it? Have they really relegated themselves to making 3 minute, generic, lame ass tunes? I just don't understand it.

They've gone in many different directions. So when does one say, "ok guys, lets make an album that speaks, without having to speak."

You ever listened to a song where the guitar is singing to you? Where you can actually feel the music? For example, the solos in Comfortably Numb? A song that is the perfect example is Purple Rain by Prince. The extended 8 minute version has a guitar solo at the end that sings to you. It reeks of emotion and style. It's not the most technically advanced solo I've ever heard, but it's absolutely fucking gorgeous. No words needed to feel the emotion and intent.

Nowadays, everything is crunched together and packaged to sell. It's cheap and uninspired. If it were me, I'd wanna be remembered for having talent and for being creative. For having done all I could to put out the very best of my abilities.

I'm sorry, but this crap is none of that. I fail to accept that this is all this band has. If it is, I just have to accept that this is it. How sad for a band that once achieved what it did has fallen to this. V, BOP, SFBM and now this? Wow, how unbelieveably sad.

Prince and Pink Floyd, are you kidding? 2 of the all time greatest bands/musicians in their prime, you're dissapointed that Live can't reach that level nowadays? Plus they're nothing alike. Live has maybe 10 songs that go over 5 minutes in their entire career. Sorry, not surprising whne there's no 8 minute guitar solo.

I agree, it doesn't have the Live magic. Maybe I'm on the other end of the spectrum, because I compare this to SFBM and you're comparing it to TC. I'm just glad it doesn't suck.

And I'm not saying we should accept whatever BS they throw at us and be happy with it, but to think they're going to somehow recreate the magic from TC, SS, TDTH is unrealistic in my opinion. So many things have changed in their lives, in our lives, with how music is made and distributed, it'd be near impossible to have the same feeling you had listening to TC as you do anything new.

Again, not saying if you don't like it you're not a fan or need to stick around. But Live is nowhere near their prime, their recent track record has been sketchy. If they make an album with songs like this that's far better than SFBM, I'm not gonna be ecstatic but I'll enjoy it as much as I can.

Yeah, you got a point there. But I'm not expecting them to reach the level of those two artists I mentioned, only to try.

Also, nowhere, no how, did I say I was comparing it to TC. As a matter of fact, I'm not comparing it to anything and never did. Except to say that the song itself takes care of that by itself. It's generic, like everything else out there nowadays.

That "TV Set" line is really BUGGING me.

I listenend to the song 7 times on the way to work yesterday morning. Then I ended up doing a 24 hour shift at the hospital. So I listened to it twice. Then I listened to it 7 times on the way home this morning.....and when I walked in the front door, and checked this board...I realized that I couldn't remember how it goes.

Might be tired...but this is not one of the best they've done.

And they need to get rid of the tv set line!

Believe me, that kind of melody is really easy to catch while playing some random chords on an acoustic guitar. Nothing impressive here.

If you listen to the chord progression that apparently isn't impressive as idiot boy says here, you find it eerily similar to an IMPRESSIVE little rock tune by a band called Guns and Fucking Roses. The song is called Patience. Now listen to the song again.

Doesn't have to be genius to be good. Songs like Patience and even Lightning Crashes by this very band ae both simple, but meaningful.
