Agreed. Not that it's horrible or anything, but is this the best solo they can come up with? For what? 6 or 7 seconds??? That's just amateur.

All I'm saying now, as well as the past, is where is these guys having enough balls to just let it all hang out and jam a few songs for 6 or 7 minutes? Take some time and write a longer guitar piece. This is just friggin lazy, predictable and boring. After all this time, you'd think they'd be capable of just letting it fucking rip for fuck sakes.

I have no idea man, but I started to wonder wtf was happening after I heard Ed say a while back that he was sick of the music out there in the mainstream. Said most of it sucked. A few months later, he released SFBM. So what does that tell you???

I dunno, I just can't comprehend how any of the guys can't listen to SFBM and not be embarassed. How can they not cringe?

Yup, I'm with you there. Who the fuck knows.

I was pretty juiced for this song, and it's good. It is the first Live song I've heard, SFBM included, that does not sound like Live. I think this sounds remarkably like Sevendust. Anyway, the song is good, but Luke is right that it's uncreative and fairly generic. At least it's a song I can play for my friends and not be embarrassed, but it really lacks the Live magic of old.

It's alright. Certainly another step towards the good stuffs, but it is a bit simple lyrically. Amp up this sound and throw in Zion-esque lyrics and you'd have something bordering great. But if this is like one of the weaker songs on the upcoming album, then it could still be a fairly decent album. But, yeah. Also not as heavy as people are saying, in my opinion. It's just like the same repeated bassy riff.

I think it would be cool if Live did more 8 minutes instrumental type songs and whatnot, but those who are dissapointed that this song doesn't do that didn't have realistic expectations at all. Live isn't going to transform into Tool.

True. I think if you pulled individual songs from the Big 3/4 albums you'd find a lot of them might seem simple, bland, or "uninspired." But in the context of the album they kick ass. Who knows where this one will fit. Like Wamba said, not every song has to blow your mind with crazy symbolism and deep meaning.

That said, this song doesn't sound like anything special. But if they keep heading in this direction they could make some awesome music.

They don't have to turn into Tool. There are plenty bands that can write an epic that could take over 10 minutes , but there are also bands that can tell a great story lyrically and musically in 4-5 minutes. Live used to do that.

This pretty much sums it up for me ... I do really like it, and it is one of the most "un-Live" songs they've done. When it started my first reaction was "wow that's different" ... that's a good reaction to have, but yeah its different for them, not different as in ground breaking.
It is a little disappointing that all they came up with was a 3min rocker, but it's more than just a step in the right direction from SFBM.
The lyrics are a little weak, I really am dying to have live really break the mould and showcase all that talent I know they have. Like someone said, years and years of playing guitar and THAT is the solo Taylor comes up with.

But either way, I dont want to just bitch and moan, it's not a bad song .. the bass is pretty fucking cool and overall, yeah I like it.

My jaw dropped when I heard the riff.

Now the office whores scream at me to make the sound lower, and I am telling them to fuck right off.

I love the song.

I'll add a couple more videos shortly....

well let me start to thank you! It's great to hear a new song only 1 or 2 days after it has been played!

As someone else said: it reminded me of some songs of Audioslave's first album.

Drums are great! Bass is great! Guitar work is greatt!! Ed's voice fits the song!

Lyrics are... heynow.gif hmm not really bad, but a bit uninspired. I heard something about his tv-set? haha whatever. Also, the song is to short.

But the mainquestion: do you think this was a group effort? I think the answer is yes! I don't know when they've written this, or when they were together, but it finally sounds like a song all four have contributed to.

and to those cookie cutter fans to come and say : why are u here ur not even a fan rozx!!!!!" I am a fan, a long time fan , and some of us just miss something , it's hard to explain but we all know inside what it is. And if you do not know, then you just DON'T. and you never will.

Live is still my favorite band of all time. But, you have single-handedly explained what I have been feeling for a long time. I've been a fan for about 16 years, and there is something missing as of late that initially drew me to Live in the first place. I would say, its the raw, unadulterated emotion. Everyone likes to say that Live's stuff was more angsty back in the day because of the times and how young they were. Well then, you know what? Fuck it, I want more angst. TRUE angst. Not forced 3 minutes anthems.

The song is a step in the right direction from SFBM, but for the love of god, how can they go from a brooding, magnificent song like "Ghost" on SS to writing 3 minute rockers that leave something to be desired? They have never been this ridiculously gifted band in terms of technical skills - they just knew how to write GREAT songs. All of their talent is there somewhere, but sometimes I feel like they're just not digging deep enough to find it.

Everybody is entitled to their own opinion. I always like to hear different opinions. I kinda like the new song myself but maybe Live needs to tweak this song a little more smile.gif

Lengthen it, spread it out.

SHOW ME THE MONEY!!!

I just don't get it. As musicians, don't they sit down and ask themselves how far they can take it? Have they really relegated themselves to making 3 minute, generic, lame ass tunes? I just don't understand it.

They've gone in many different directions. So when does one say, "ok guys, lets make an album that speaks, without having to speak."

You ever listened to a song where the guitar is singing to you? Where you can actually feel the music? For example, the solos in Comfortably Numb? A song that is the perfect example is Purple Rain by Prince. The extended 8 minute version has a guitar solo at the end that sings to you. It reeks of emotion and style. It's not the most technically advanced solo I've ever heard, but it's absolutely fucking gorgeous. No words needed to feel the emotion and intent.

Nowadays, everything is crunched together and packaged to sell. It's cheap and uninspired. If it were me, I'd wanna be remembered for having talent and for being creative. For having done all I could to put out the very best of my abilities.

I'm sorry, but this crap is none of that. I fail to accept that this is all this band has. If it is, I just have to accept that this is it. How sad for a band that once achieved what it did has fallen to this. V, BOP, SFBM and now this? Wow, how unbelieveably sad.
