In my opinion, they are. And then there are songs like the Sanctity of Dreams. There are tons. And they all have awful lyrics. I think it is a plenty good comparison, and if you disagree because you believe Ed's lyrics in those songs are a level above Kroeger's, I don't know what to say to you because you don't seem to understand lyrics in the least.

In your opinion? Thanks for clarifying. I would have thought it was someone else's opinion without that insight.

Comparing any of Live's lyrics to the level of atrociousness in SIYM, and then saying someone doesn't understand lyrics is hilarious. If we were on a Limp Bizkit forum and I was saying their lyrics weren't on the same level as Nickelback's you might have a point. Unfortunately you don't.

I don't know what to tell you. I'm not saying Live's lyrics are worse, and I never did. I'd say SIYM and, say, the rap bit of Like a Soldier are on about the same level lyric wise. "Girl with the pretty pink thong" or a "song so good make a midget grow." At least one of those things is possible.

I'm not defending Nickleback (I can't stand them), I'm pointing out your hypocrisy regarding the statement about artists having 180 degree changes regarding lyrics. Micheal Stipe wrote "Shiny Happy People," Dylan wrote quite a few sappy love songs, Ed wrote V, Birds of Pray, and SFBM (and there are ALOT of songs on those albums which are just as bad. "Deep Enough," anyone? It's the same thing).

I'm sure Kroeger is not a good lyricist. I don't know for sure though, and I don't think you do either, judging from your response, so attacking him for liking the band was uncalled for, and then attacking me for pointing this out was uncalled for as well.

Grow a pair and accept that you made a simple mistake. I didn't want it to be a big deal, but I guess it was stupid for me to assume others on this site would accept their own hiccups.

Uhhh...I never said you said Live's lyrics were worse. You said that they have lots of songs that are lyrically just as bad as Nickelback's SIYM. And I don't agree. As for the example you just gave, I might agree if a song is just made up of one line. However, overall, the lyrics to that song are still not as bad as SIYM. That would be like saying the Killer's "Human" is just as bad as SIYM because of that one nonsensical line "Are we human or are we dancer?" Yes, it's an absurd line, but overall, the song's lyrics are not as terrible as SIYM. Do I think Ed is one of the greatest lyricists of all time? Hell no. Do I think he's above the level of Kroeger? Yes.

Well, it would probably be a good idea to know what hypocrisy is if you're going to be pointing it out. A hypocrite would be someone who acts in contradiction to their beliefs. How does making the statement I did act in contradiction to my beliefs? The most you could say about my statement is that it's wrong (which it's not). But hypocritical? Not in the least.

I never said that artists who wrote great lyrics were incapable of writing subpar or even bad lyrics. I said that the chances of someone writing a song that's as horrendous as something like SIYM writing genius lyrics is very slim. There are different levels of bad. A song like "Shiny Happy People," while corny, is still much better than SIYM.

So basically you're sure that Kroeger isn't a good lyricist, but you're also not sure? Hilarious. Talk about contradicting yourself.

As for attacking you? Funny. So you come in here and post that I don't understand lyrics, and that's just a point you were making? But I tell you that your point is wrong, and that's an attack? Speaking of needing to grow some. Stop it with the passive-aggressive behavior.

As for attacking Merica? What are you? The fricking board police? Merica's a big boy. He can defend himself.

Creed is by far one of the worst popular bands in modern rock history.

Nickelback is terrible, of course, but Scott Stapp pretty much seals the deal on this one.

Then again, "If Everyone Cared" is quite possibly the worst song I've EVER heard. Hrm.

Creed at least had a good album. I thought My Own Prison was an good album. It seemed a little more gritty and had more depth than the couple albums that came after. Plus the band members of Creed are all very talented as you can see with Alter Bridge.

I've spun two of the Nickleback albums all the way through. I didn't really like either. Nickleback, in my opinion, is the worst of the two.

I'm gonna go with Nickelback being worse. "My Own Prison" was actually a decent album. Other than that Creed and Nickelback are both horseshit.

Once again Creed for the win. Loved the first album liked the second, never got the third. Then Alter Bridge came and you can see why Creed wins. Tremonti rules.

ps Got the 4th too, it was ok, but I'd rather them focus on AB. Though seems like Tremonti is releasing a solo album (very speed metal shred stuff so yah for me!) and they are workign on more Creed and Alter Bridge. Busy Bee that dude.

Nickelback always had tunes here and there that I liked. I don't diss them I jsut don't care for the band. But that one song with the partying on the porch of some college dorm house or something? Fuck that garbage. Horrible song and they are wasting Daniel's drumming talent. So ya I'll take Scott Stapps Jesus poses if it means I hear Tremonti and the rest make kickass music.

I am spinning loads of Nickelback lately. Funny enough, with all my hate towards them, now that I am a bit bigger than say 5 years ago, I find them very entertaining. If you do not listen to some lyrics and forget what Kroeger looks likem it becomes much better. The cringing and screaming guitars sound very good and the heaviness of the songs is awesome. And there are also several brilliant lyrics like If Today Was Your Last Day or Photograph
