Who's worse - Creed or Nickelback?, it's like trying to choose between vomit and diarrhea! Options

Nickelback is worse than Creed, but not by much. I didn't think Nickelback could get any worse actually, and then I heard, "Something In Your Mouth." When a band can continuously top some of the worst music ever put out with music that sucks even more, that's pretty hard to beat right there.

But... why? They've done some decent stuff; One Last Breath, What If, My Own Prison, My Sacrifice... they're all cool rock songs in my opinion. Certainly not ground breaking, and with a touch of genericness (what's the word?) about them... but I don't see how people can HATE them. Same with Nickelback; How You Remind Me, Too Bad, Animals.... they've done some good stuff. I know people say "oh but they all sound the same", which for me is a bullshit reason because tonnes of bands milk the same sonic vein. I don't get the hate. They're not the best bands in the world, but each has done some good stuff.

... even when it comes to both much-hated lead singers, even if they both do the same voice for each song (which, if we're criticising people for, we have a LOT of other singers to throw shit at), I still think they each have a good enough rock voice. It's just one song, though. And taking these lyrics at face value is kind of taking them out of conetext. Listen to the song with them, and it's just a decent but throwaway rock song. And is it the only song ever to pain something in a negative light (in this case, women)? No. I'm pretty shocked at how crazy the hate of Nickelback (them moreso than Creed, who don't seem to get it as much) is. Generalizing Nicleback fans as wife beating rednecks and morons is well, idiotic to say the least. I went to see em at the Amphitheatre in Toronto and there were over 9,000 people in there.

The majority of them seemed to be mostly 20 somethings that looked completely normal to me. No trailers in this city and no rednecks neither, at least not many. I think most hillbillies and rednecks are scared of the cold, you know?

I saw em at the urging of two friends, (neither of whom are rednecks), just to see what they were like in concert. While all the music sounded the same still, it was pretty entertaining. Seeing LIVE the night after was a complete contrast, meaning Nickleback was so much better it was embarassing. More energy, more interaction, threw loads of beer into the crowd, a tribute to dimebag. Sure they suck, but at least they tried.

No, he probably couldn't 100% know for certain their other lyrics are just as bad from one song. But let's be serious here. The chances of someone coming up with lyrics that bad and pulling a complete 180 and having genius lyrics in other songs are very slim. Unless Chad Kroeger is some bipolar genius, anyone should be able to make an educated guess at what his other songs are like.

I don't think people only get on Nickelback for bad lyrics. The only reason why people may talk about them more than other bands with bad lyrics is because they're more popular. So of course they're going to be mentioned more.

I brought it up because Badman, to me, was talking about it as though this was something unique to Nickelback, which makes them especially terrible. I noted that many bands do similar stuff to this, so they're not especially terrible for this reason. Wasn't aiming at Badman specifically. Again, was just saying.

Ummm...okay. Nowhere in his post did he say it was unique only to them. The only point he was making was that he thought the lyrics were terrible and that maybe the reason why women still liked them was cause they didn't pay attention to the lyrics.

And again, I don't see how other bands doing similar stuff makes Nickelback's music any less terrible. That's like saying, "I got an F on my test. There were other kids who got F's too though, so that's not so bad of a grade."

I never said every band had terrible lyrics, though, just that I *could* say it and it'd be valid.

How would that be valid? Every single band out there has terrible lyrics? You're saying that would be a valid statement if you made it?

I'm not saying that they aren't terrible, I'm not saying anything about their content or quality - just that some people shout about the lyrics being bad in a big blanket like manner without really being specific or having listened to enough of their material, which is bullshit.

Okaaayyy. Now you're contradicting yourself. You said up there that their lyrics weren't terrible (just generic maybe, but not terrible). And now here, you're saying that you're not saying that they aren't terrible. I don't know if you're doing this to purposely confuse the hell out of me, but please tell me how I'm misinterpreting this.

Who are these people you're talking about anyways? Are they in this thread? I was very specific in what I thought the terrible lyrics were. And if the fact that I only gave one example is bothering you, I could provide more if you like.
