probably Live's album ... thats if there even will be an Ed album .. maybe he's just going to release single songs/ep's .. we've had discussion of a new Live album, we've heard that even the Ed k solo dates are in support of a live album, nothing to do with solo material ... if he ever does a solo album it won't be for a while yet I imagine.

I think Live's next album. After this long, I don't see a real full Ed solo project, especially when of late, Live pretty much IS him anyway...

Agreed Fully, He writes all the songs and is the one people remember when they think of Live. (Sorry to any bandmember that read this!)

I'm bummed I didn't come up with this idea first. I must be rubbing off on Nick.

I'm actually thinking a solo album by Ed will be coming before a new Live album.

Look at some recent happenings:

The band was supposed to hit the studio in the first half of 2009 with a new album out this summer. Those plans seemed to be signifigantly delayed or scrapped.

Also, why would Ed feel the need to debut a new website a week before his tour is scheduled to begin and end, unless there are more dates to come in the near future? Speaking of a tour, since when has Ed played so many solo shows in only a few months time?

In my opinion, signs point to an Eddie K solo release in the near future. I doubt it would spell the end for Live, but a hiatus could be in the cards after they finish their 2009 DVD tour.

It will be a Live album. Ed could not make it a month on his own. He'd sell about 10,000 copies.

I don't think a solo record will happen. Ed is telling until very recent interviews (March), that the coming Live album will sound like Forever and Purifier. I don't think they let go of that idea, but appearently there's some delay for some reason.
The only thing that will make me doubt, is if the "fun stuff on his new website" he talks about that"will be generated exclusively" turns out to be own songs. Only then I see a new solo album coming.

Ed will definitely release stuff and either spread it online or sell it digitally.

The most controversial thing that could happen here would be for Ed to release a rap song dissin' live .. man that'd rock the boat.

Please, no more rap Ed. We've heard enough.

It seems to me that he's going to record and release new solo stuff right on his website. I doubt he'd ever release a physical album as a solo artist, it would be digital. If it was physical, it would probably be an online option like Radiant Sea was.

I think a Live album would be out first.

Anyway, I'm not too familiar with Ed's touring history, but has he been touring a lot on his own throughout Live's career? Is there any official word from Live on why Ed's touring on his own?

Ed often plays short acoustic sets at radio stations prior to release of an album, but it is quite usual for Ed to play 60-80 minute solo shows for a paying public and particularly so many in a short space of time.

You do mean unusual, right?

Anyway, the reason could be a lot of things, and a looming solo career could be just one of them. It doesn't necessarily mean the end of Live as we know it today though.

Although I'm thinking at this point that they won't be around much longer as a group (but I hope not), somehow the next album could be the deciding point for the band, with either or both commercial and artistic breakthrough taken into consideration.

It's just me thinking out loud though..
