Hopefully when it gets to the studio, Ed doesn't girl it up like he has with everything over the past ten years. Be a man and put some fucking balls into it.

Not sure where I get the TBD feel, but I do. Agreed about girling it up in the studio. I like Purifier, but it basically is God Don't Never Change but girled up in the studio as you say. If he can keep his voice low and angsty and if they quit doing bullshit like dubbing in other vocals then this could be a great album.

o'right...

....I like the fact this new played song forms a really positive vibe here in the Live fanbase... and I don't want to spoil that feeling...

but aren't we a little too early by stating this is 'a great new song' ? I would really like to believe that, and I really enjoyed the video I listened (now for more than 10 times). And yes...it maybe has potential... But have we forgotten that this was 1 single live performance of a song he created 2 days ago. Maybe he hasn't really decided how the final version of the song must sound. Maybe he was just in 'the right mood' to bring it in a way we really like. But, for example, Ed has brought Selling the Drama so many times, and sometimes we really liked it (when his voice was dark/low), and other times many of us thought he brought a female version of the song. And this counts for every performance of every song. What if this was only a pre-version of the end product. And by that: the last 7 years the live versions of song sounded better than how they finally ended up on the album. Production is often killing it. (some on BoP, many songs on SFBM).

Again: I don't want to spoil it, and yes we haven't seen Ed in this 'mood' for a long time now, but the song was only 2 days old, can change really much in the meantime and may end up as a overproduced pop rock thing.

I hope you're all right, and that the CHANGE we all waited for almost a decade, has come. After all, everybody's good enough for some change. Some F*CKING change!!!!!!!!!!!

Btw, one things for sure: I like the lyrics for Forever/Purifier/TMUTZ much more than the most songslyrics from SFBM.

I'm going to give it plenty more spins, but at the moment I'm not as crazy about this as other people. It does have a decent general vibe to it, but it could go anywhere in the studio. It could end up sounding like something off SFBM or BoP still... I hope it doesn't, of course, but I'm reserving judgement on this. But yeah, seems cool enough thus far. If it ends up being better than Purifier then, for me, Live are really moving in a good direction because I think Purifier is great.

I wouldn't say all that, but the song has real potential.

What the hell are you talking about? People here jump all over new songs like hoes on crack. Are you claiming that this is going to be the next singe? If you are you're trippin and if you're not I don't know what the fuck you mean.

This is an alright song. It sounds nice, could be released help fill and album, might have a few people who really dig it, but it's not a smash hit. What potential are you referring to?

My guess would be that it's a website exclusive at eddieklive.com. There's no way any respectable artist would release a song with a line in the first verse "take me up to Zion", and then turn around and put the exact same line in the next song he writes (and maybe even call it that). Middle school garage bands wouldn't even do that.

In fact the redundancy in the lyrics pisses me off as a consumer and scares me as a fan. I'm hoping this is only a acoustic solo release! Other than that I love it.

I'm not so much a fan of the fact that his lyrics went from vaguely spiritual/inspirational, to pretty Christian.

Its' way too early to even think about the band's next single, but I feel this song has potential to be a really cool song on the new CD. We have to give the band time to create the new album before passing judgment on it.

I am a big fan of Forever and Purifier and really feel the band is heading in the right direction for album #8. The potential of songs like Zion and possibly a reworked Hold Me Up have fans buzzing more so than they have in quite some time. Not only that, but reworked setlists showed that the band is listening to their fans and trying to give their concerts more bang for the buck. The band are really trying to get this new album done right, and I'm excited to see where it all leads.

You keep saying that Ed 'created this song 2 days ago', what makes you think that? Sure, he first performed the track to the public 2 days ago, but this song could be weeks or months old... Maybe it was a left over track from the Forever/Purifier recording sessions?

Am I missing something where Ed stated that he wrote the song only very recently??

well I didn't mean he PERFORMED it days ago (as that's almost week now or so), but I'm sure it was 1. in the 30 minute interview or 2. in the review of a fan that posted his review about the solo show (here or at SOY, don't remember), and said Ed introduced the song by saying that TMUTZ was written 2 days ago. Don't know if I read/heard it in 1. or 2.

But would it surprise you if it was true? Ed also claimed recently that Purifier and Forever were created really at the last minute of the deadline for LATP, and he said something similar of the Bob Dylan as he said about TMUTZ: he practiced the Dylan song only a few days before (as we could see on the sheets with lyrics he had during performing tongue.gif )

Listen to the stretches right around the chorus, for example at the 43-50 second mark....then tell me this song doesn't remind you of patience?

I'm not saying this song has any potential for anything but this is the best chorus I've heard in a LIVE song for a very long time. And I'm usually one of the first people to hate on songs. But I can't hate this.

When he starts singing "they gonaa run, run from me"......he sets it up fucking perfectly to "far away..from me" It has heart, it sounds like he's singing from deep down. This song reminds me a LOT of photograph and I fucking love that song.

This song, in it's raw form is fifty billion times better than either Purifier or Forever.

Whilst I agree that he does seem to be singing it from deep down (he seems really into it in the video), the chorus is actually the only bit I question. It's because, at face value, it seems lyrically weak. "They'll run, run away, far away, you'll see, they'll run" etc, it's like little ditti lines and I wonder if he'll keep going on with them. But this is where the studio will play such a big part in the making of this song in my opinion. If the production is BoP / SFBM low-key style, it'll be another little catchy tune (albeit slightly deeper than recent stuff), but if they really work with it with (like they put more thought into Purifier), it could have that Rattlesnake / Gas Hed wide open aura type feel to it... and then the chorus and the song as a whole might work on that more epic type scale.

Slightly ramblish explanation, I hope you get my point.

I just hope it doesn't get ruined by overproduction, if ever. It could be that kind of song wherein 'less is more', so to speak.

Is there anyone else in this world besides me that is praying for Jerry Harrison to produce the next album? Did Live's relationship with Harrison fall apart?

yep, I'm still praying every night cool.gif
but I don't say it will certainly better with Jerry. It might be! But the 4 musicans have to put their heart and soul into it as well.
