Hey everybody! Welcome to my new site. Let me start off by thanking Dave Snyder and the folks at missingink for breaking what has to be a speed record for building a website. I literally came to Dave less than a week ago and said I wanted to do Eddieklive.com and here we are! I recorded the MP3 download of Forever last night here at home on Garageband. So, that's the flavor of eddieklive.com; I'm going to be doing fun stuff for it all the time and most of it will be generated exclusively by yours truly. Next week, if all goes as planned, I will have tons of wicked stuff in the music store to download. So keep checking back as I continue to add to this baby. God Bless! Eddie

I don't have a problem with it. Ed used to have his own site which he kept up to date in 1997. It was called 'Ed's Hole in the Universe' (or something like that). It was updated every couple of days during the Secret Samadhi tour. It included reviews and photos from the majority of concerts during the tour.. it was quite groundbreaking for the time.

I welcome any effort to reach out to fans and keeping us up to date on what's going on in the world of Live.

totally all for it, interesting to see what he's gonna cook up ..It's like an off shoot of the Ween website is for Gene Ween's solo band, just another way for the band to communicate with fans, more chance of more material etc..

Yea, you guys are right...my initial thought was a little bit of concern that he was this was all leading towards him doing more solo stuff and less band stuff. Then the more I thought about it...he only plays live songs, live is in the title of his website, etc...it doesn't seem that those are his intentions.

Guess you tend to be a little skeptical the way bands come and go...quite a few bands I liked seem to have had rather short life spans due to lead singers starting to do their own thing (audioslave, the format, caroline's spine, new radicals...to name a few). Even the Wallflowers seem to be going nowhere while Jakob Dylan does his own thing. Not to compare Live to any of these bands...far more accomplished and have been around/together much longer than any of them were.

But in the end yea, I think anything that gets attention to him or the band is a good thing.

Even if he does do some more solo stuff I don't really care ... if that's his outlet to do solo writing and then when it comes to Live it becomes more of a team written thing again then that would be awesome.

At first sight, I shared the concerns that shave98765 expressed. Especially when I saw the title, EddiekLIVE.com. I expected it refered to his solo shows (Ed performing live). But than again, it will more likely to the band name he is the singer of. But... the tourdates section of his new website only lists his solo tour dates... Why not announcing when he's with his band on tour?

All together, now I've thought about it, I think it's indeed not a bad thing. It gives a glimpse about what Ed is up to at the moment. Also very interesting to see what Ed reads!
And finally, as Pokey stated: maybe a more solo focus is a good thing, and now at least we'll get more updates by Ed than in the past.

Eddie K. VIP! haha

I'm doubting the longevity of his interest in this. I give it a year and a half before he loses interest.

That's longer than most of Chad Taylor's online endeavors.

The hardest part is getting started. Now that his site has been established (I'm going to assume that the developer made it easy for Ed to make updates), then Ed can add to the site whenever he likes. Maybe he will start off with a flurry of activity and then as time progresses the updates will become less frequent, but that's quite normal. I'm looking forward to the next 6 months and when they eventually enter the studio maybe we'll get a webcam feed or a few videos? This is going to be an exciting time...

I think this is pretty cool. Even if he does lose interest, while he's still going at it it's more than we'd get otherwise.

It is a cool concept. I get the feeling that there will be some not Live related songs on the site.

I downloaded the track and have listened to it a few times. I do like his vocals on this better than on the Paradiso CD.

The thing for me is that I like acoustic music, but I don't like solo acoustic stuff. It just bores me when I listen to it. I'm into the full band acoustic gigs.

Edit: Nice find. I do find it wierd that the site has not been announced, mentioned, or linked on friendsoflive.com. I wonder if there's a reason?

I'm guessing Ed wont actually maintain the site, just pass what he wants to say on to the developer to update ... but yeah will start out in a flurry and then be just sparadic updates

Apparently the person running FOL has been on holidays for the past week, so that's the reason why there's been no updates.

That's not how things usually work. If Ed had to pay some guy every time he wanted to add a blog entry then it's going to be very costly. A basic content management system has probably been incorporated into the site.

No, if you email FOLinfo@aol.com, you get an away message. They will be back in office on April 20th.
