I agree about that Trump Marina show in 2002. It was a great show with no opener!

Train and Live would make for a great tour. Train does a lot of classic rock covers in their set, which fits well in the direction that I believe Live is heading.

Another band that I left out and could be a firm possibility is Daughtry. Helter Skelter anyone?

In Norway Train is only known for the song "Drops of Jupiter", are they popular in the U.S.

U2 is one of the most overrated bands when it comes to a live show. Bono uses the platform of an audience to preach, not entertain. The background musicians basically just stand in place and play instruments throughout the show with no interaction with Bono.

That said, Live opening for U2 would be great exposure for the band and allow me to leave early.

I think they would actually be a good fit with Snow Patrol if they do any kind of spring or summer tour over here. Live would probably be the supporting band, possibly a co-headline.

My favorite would be a co-headline tour with Better Than Ezra that would be fantastic. Both bands do a 100 min set.

QUOTE(CRH @ Feb 6 2009, 8:00 pm) *

Better Than Ezra is one of my absolute favorite bands, up on the level of Live for me. That being said, I would not want them to tour together. I don't think it makes for a great crowd when you mix two bands that are at this point in their career. Each band has its niche of who they play to, and I think its great to keep it separate. I personally did not like the CS/Live/CC tour nor did I really enjoy the CS/BT/Live tour from the perspective of a Live fan. Any time there is competition between each band's fans, it just takes away from the shows overall vibe.

I'd love to see Live do their own tour, giving them the opportunity to play 20+ song sets, rather than 16 or so. While some of their openers have been atrocious, they sometimes end up having some great bands play. Recently, I really enjoyed Will Hoge (AC HoB in 05) and the Alternate Routes (Sayreville and Borgata in March 08). Crash Palace at Trump Taj Mahal in 01 was cool, but ear bleeding loud.

That being said, I've had to stand through some pretty god awful bands to see Live as well. Michael Shapiro in Sayreville and Electric Factory? Those goth kids in Sayreville? Ambulance LTD at the Trump Marina? Those Pink Floyd cover band kids in Wildwood? One of the best opening bands ever was the band that failed to show at the second Trump Marina show in like 03.

Also Nick...absolutely not to a tour that would include Nickleback, Train, 3 Doors Down, or Vertical Horizon. To me, that would be an embarrassing attempt to re-establish this band as something they aren't.

Couldn't agree more. While I do like to see multiple bands I am interested in at a concert that only applies when LIVE is not inlcuded. Other bands just reduce the setlist and crowd energy away. LIVE's at a point in their career where they can fill the place with people who just want to see them and it makes for longer sets and the crowd vibe much more energetic and into the show. I absolutely hate when they open for more "popular" bands like Bon Jovi or Nickleback. I know it makes good sense for promotion and don't mind as long as they still play some headlining club shows. Having said that I think if I had to choose one band for them to play with it would be OAR.

I'm thinking its going to be Live and Collective Soul again this summer. Collective Soul has solo tour dates that end on July 1st and start up again on September 4th, which leaves plenty of time left open in July/August to team up with Live again. They also are releasing a new album this summer. The only possible roadblock is that the band signed a deal with Roadunner Records and aren't their own bosses anymore.

I guess we'll hear what's up within the next month or two.

U2 sucks but I would not leave the show if I paid for it. I don't get that whole attitude of opening act fans thinking they are showing up the main act by leaving - right Collective Soul fans!

I wrote the Hamptom Beach Casino Ballroom in New Hampshire regarding Live playing the venue this summer, and this was the response:

they're routing their tour now. we'll see

Maybe we'll get a solo tour this summer!

Excerpt from a recent Boston article: (Thanks Dangum)

Live was most recently in town last month for a sold out show at the House of Blues and is expected to return to New England this summer, though no official tour plans have been released.
