The thing you guys have to understand is that a large group of people going to a Live show aren't diehard fans and they are going to hear the hits. For example, when Collective Soul opens for them I don't want to hear off the wall shit I've never heard. I want to hear the hits and have them get off the stage.

Anyways, these are the song's I'd like to hear live in concert on the next tour that you don't get much anymore:

Simple Creed (as the opener every night)
Like I Do
Sweet Release
Turn My Head
Mother Earth Is A Vicious Crowd
Imagine
Purifier
White, Discussion
Pillar of Davidson
Beautiful Invisible
Rattlesnake
Unsheathed
Freaks
Heropsychodreamer
Graze
Century
Gas Head Goes West
Love Shines
Vine Street

In fact, if you organized it right, it would probably make a real kick ass show!

If Live were opening for another band, then fine... play the hits. But if Live are headlining then then most of the fans will be there for THEM and therefore Live should be willing to branch out from the old static setlist.

Pokey's post on the previous page should be sent directly to the band. Seriously. His solution to the setlist issue is ideal. I can't find any fault in it. Sure, it's going to mean that Live will have to rehearse more frequently and actually start doing soundchecks on a daily basis while on tour but they owe the fans who have stuck around a more diverse and spontaneous setlist.

I'm with Hoodie on that!

Song that I feel need to stay in the setlist:

Lightning Crashes
I Alone
All Over You
Selling the Drama
Lakini's Juice
Dolphin's Cry
Heaven
I Walk the Line

When the crowd gets behind Live, it always makes it a better show. These songs do just that.

really? I can agree with most of those, but out of all their biggest songs (like those), Heaven and Dolphin's Cry might be getting a little stale, at least in concert.

They don't need to bring out a bunch of old songs, necessarily, they just need some more variety. Even the order of the songs is getting pretty stale. Then again, most of their tours have been like this - look at the 1999 tour to see what I mean.

Did you read my post? I said that most of those songs in some form or another should def stay in the setlist .. it leaves plenty of room to constantly move fresh stuff through.

I don't understand the mentality behind "I dont want to hear it if I havent heard it before" ... how the hell do you people discover new music?
Like Dan said, if Live are opening for another band, fair enough, pack the hits in, especially cos the setlist is usually shorter.
Otherwise I can't understand why the band's attitude wouldn't be "you just wanna hear what you only hear on the radio huh? well fuck that, get a load of THIS" and launch into Heropsychodreamer or something ... if I hear a few tracks on the radio of a band and I like those 3/4/5 songs then I want to hear what else they have on offer ... I want them to show me what they got and Live just don't do that.
I've often gone to a show and only known a handful of songs by the band and hear them play something I've not heard before and come away with that being the best song of the night regardless of whether I could sing along to it or not. I just feel people who want to go along and hear whatever they are told to listen to on the radio and aren't interesting in going deeper truely don't deserve music if you're that close minded.

Also, as much as I really dislike SFBM, the fact that so much of that album was never played live is really telling.

in defence of LIVE from SFBM we did hear:

The River
Mystery
Get Ready (oNLY acoustic)
Wings
Show
Sofia
Love Shines (a crappy elongated and useless N.B.)
Where do we go from here? (ONLY TWICE)

They actually played Where Do We Go From Here, the entire summer of 2007. Uusally 5 SFBM tracks were played per concert.
Good post and points!

That'd work too, increase the show time by 30mins or so and fill up the rest with goodies that they dont normally play.

When Live pushed the show length to 2 hours plus, Ed's voice struggled a great deal. I don't think its an option.

THANKS ALOT MAN! I FINALLY HAVE A GOOD POST AND YOU KILL IT!!!!

no its ok I really don't mind...much.... cry.gif

- you are right about Ed struggling with long shows, its a bit of a worry that His voice falls apart so easy.

I think Ed should play 1 different song each night acoustically[u]; 10 shows = 10 different songs.

i mean He uses the same chords in most of 'em anyway so it can't be too much of a stretch.

Thats a start to shaking things up setlist wise...

Oh no, not Ed acousticly .. I really don't like that sad.gif His voice just never sounds right with just him and a guitar anymore it seems. But yeah I guess Nick is right, Ed's voice struggles as it is, so an extra 30mins would probably kill him.

Oh well, they should stick to my original "rotation setlist" idea then thumbsup.gif

I guess you are right - I do however take at least partial mental credit for the "rotation setlist" idea seeing as I have thought about that before... tongue.gif

In fact...
