With all the “Lightning Crashes” “Selling the Drama” as we “Walk the Line”, Live gives us a “Simple Creed” to help us “Overcome.”

I have to admit I've really got a thing for 'Forever' as well - I think its great, very fresh.

I got my CD in the mail who was it that said "SPIRIT!!!" was "the worst moment" or something? It is kind of a cringe moment...he should have done the "lets make this bigger than rocknroll" thing in the break down instead of the "spirit" crowd chant - lord knows where that came from.

Oh, current conversation; that guy wrote a nice review but it was lame no.gif "simple Creed to overcome" what the heck is that about man?

Hope to get the DVD Feb 28th anyone know why it took so long to release over here???

hehe.gif

I had the unusual misfortune to be listening to Triple M on the way home tonight, at about 10:10pm. They announced that Live are just about to release a new DVD and how you could win a copy by going to their website.

Then, because they know that nobody* has a copy, told us they were playing All Over You from the cd... and proceeded to play a track ripped from some other concert. Dodgy bastards.

*nobody lame enough to usually be listening to that station

I heard it as well. I thought that All Over You sounded a little different. Much slower than how they've been recently performing it and it appeared as if a part of the recording was cut out. huh.gif Not 100% sure though.

Earlier on that night Chit-Chat (the host of the Planet Rock radio show) played an interview with Ed. No mention of any tour dates though. Ed talked about how much he loved Holland and Australia.

The Paradiso CD/DVD was quite heavily promoted. I heard it at least 3 times...

Do you think Forever will be the single "down under" or will you get Purifier? I for one would love to see Live release Purifier in the US to go along with their rumored summer tour, but I'm not holding my breath.

Either way, I'm happy to see the band getting some promotion in Australia. A new release to go along with a tour, sound like a great one-two punch.

Funny lol.gif - its like the very first 'SPI-RAT' - can't help but laugh.

Don't get me wrong I think the concert was pretty good.

And there is NO WAY we will ever get 'purifier' as a single down here - it'd be cool though.

I challenge LIVE to release it!!!

ah cool, tnx! thumbsup.gif we actually never get to see pictures of them in the studio, but it's great to see! The only other times I can remember is Chad Gracey playing the tamborine together Chad Taylor in the studio, and some webcam shots of Live in the studio recording TDTH. Ohw and now I think about it, maybe some shots of them in the studio in the SS-booklet?

Here's a pretty bad review...

Live at the Paradiso
Article By: Nils van der Linden
Thu, 19 Feb 2009 22:59

Live score 2/5

Live are dangerously close to Dead. Apart from guitarist Chad Taylor's hairstyle and a declining fan base, the Pennsylvanian band have been going nowhere slowly for close on a decade. Following 2001's misguided attempt at nu metal ('V'), Ed Kowalczyk has settled into writing the same safe song over and over again, just changing the title ('Heaven', 'The River', 'Run Away').

Their first live album is equally unsurprising. Recorded in one of the remaining territories outside South Africa where their popularity endures, ' Live at the Paradiso - Amsterdam' has the group relying heavily on their mid-'90s catalogue. All the big hitters from breakthrough album 'Throwing Copper' ('Selling The Drama', 'Lightning Crashes', 'I Alone', 'All Over You') are hauled out alongside fan favourites ('Operation Spirit', 'Dance With You', Johnny Cash's 'I Walk The Line') and later hits ('The Dolphin's Cry', 'Overcome').

Packed inside a tiny venue, the Dutch punters respond enthusiastically — this crowd is about rabid passion, not size — but little of that energy makes its way back onto the small stage. Kowalczyk's banter is, frankly, dull and, with the encroaching walls clearly cramping their style, the group aren't exactly on fire.

They seem to be wondering where it all went wrong — a feeling only enhanced by the DIY feel of the concert footage, caught on stark digital video rather than 35mm film. By the time they pack it in, after some 80 minutes and a scorching rendition of 'Lakini's Juice', their relief is palpable.

The end is imminent.

• 'Live at the Paradiso' is also available on CD, featuring most of the show and two new studio tracks. 'Forever' is more of the same but is performed with greater enthusiasm than anything off 'Birds Of Pray' or 'Songs From Black Mountain', while 'Purifier' boasts an aggro riff and some smokin' harmonica to reveal some signs of life.

Sadly I think a pretty accurate review. Also I dont know if this goes for elsewhere but I noticed the track listing on the DVD cover is different to the actual gig, they get The River and Mirror Song around the wrong order .. just something I noticed the other day.

I don't like this review. Indeed, the truth hurts, and that review speaks the truth. Mostly, at least. I think Ed and the band have embraced the small-but-more-loyal fanbase, but everything else was spot-on. Especially the bit about the two new songs.

Agreed... Spot on.

I dunno guys... I think Live may be slipping as my favourite band. Zappa is up to being my second favourite right now because he is just a freakin' genius. Live doesn't do anything creative anymore and actually never did. It SOUNDS good and was kinda deep at first but meh on the new stuff.

all the reviews on LATP I read seemed to like (or at least they don't bash) the 2 new songs. If Live would really make their new album in this new style, i'm curious to hear what the critics think about it. Maybe there's hope and maybe a Live-revival is possible eyebrow.gif

Go for it guys! What are you waiting for?! Record a cd full of rocking stuff rockin.gif

Thats what I still dont get .. they play to a loyal and small fan base yet play the same things over and over .. we dont need that stagnant setlist still, if they've given up and popularity and the charts then sacrifice some of the big hits and experiment with new stuff and dig out more and more from the past ... if all they have left is a loyal fanbase then surely we're not gonna be complaining if we go to a gig and get Unsheathed or Good Pain instead of All over you and TSUFL
