I was just reading through this thread again and AgentK7 was spot on...

QUOTE(AgentK7 @ Sep 15 2008, 9:29 am) *
Anyway, after 13 friggin' years the excuses were getting pretty thin. The only theoretical excuse they could have used this time around was that they were going to use it as the anchor for a bonus disc for a Throwing Copper 15th Anniversary edition next year. (Hey that would be cool if they did that to, don't forget Susquehanna, Photograph, etc).

Knowing the fans luck with this song, something will happen and the song will get nixed from the soundtrack.

Laugh, that's all you can do... surrender.gif

How did everyone get a hold of the "Hold Me Up" demo back in 1994 and subsequently over the years? Was it released as a B-side on a single or something?

Kevin Smith must have gotten the actual mastered studio recording from the band when he used it in Mallrats and Zack and Miri probably I guess.

No, it was never released as a single or b-side. In the mid 90's a Throwing Copper demo tape was leaked and circulated through the trading circles. The tape contained a demo version (bass, vocals, drums) of Hold Me Up (it was named "Lift Me Up" / "Spew" by fans).
MP3s of the demo tape can be found here: http://www.mediafire.com/live

Pre-V era things leaked from people that were close to the band. Things tightened up now that the fun and games are over and that is why we don't see extra things from BoP or SFBM.

Hmm... Was there ever a SS Demo now that I think of it?

We've got alternate versions of 'She' and 'Everytime I See Your Face' as well as a demo version of 'Home', string-less version of 'Mystery' and a few other demos from SFBM.

Those Demos are the exact same as the final product. The version of She is just a little bit longer. None contain alternate lyrics and we get no songs that didn't make it to the album.

i wouldnt say the extended version of she is exactly the same. it has an entire bridge we didnt get before and a completely different ending. And its actually one of my favourite live songs whereas the original was just ok.

I'm sorry, my post contained incorrect information. blush.gif
The "bass, vocals & drums" recording I was referring to is Dealing Dreams. It was NOT 'Hold Me Up'.
