Forever is just lazy pastiche bollocks. I think I've finally lost my temper with Live. It's irredeemable platitudinous shit.

That was honestly only worth watching to ogle Adam.

Anyone else think these oooohs sound like that Akon guy doing those in the Gwen Stefani song. That's what I thought when I heard the song and still do. Those oooooohs ruin the song for me.

Pretty sad that they don't even play the acoustic guitar live. Fuck. You got Ed's bro playing the electric, Taylor should have been playing the acoustic. no other words but: lazy or just they can't play it live. Meh. Though Purifier is good, this band is still doing... well I don't fucking know where they come up with all these wrong moves. Fuck, might as well get rid of Gracey too and have a drum machine going.

I was thinking that, its just .. mind boggling that they had the acoustic guitar overdubbed and didn't even play the real thing ... soon it'll be like kareoke where Ed just sings over the music playing off an ipod .. hell they'll be miming soon now. Ok and queue a Nick defending Live's decision to pipe in the acoustics in 3 ... 2 ... 1

First some people bitch about Live not playing Forever on Ellen, then when the band plays the song, those same individuals need to find something else to complain about.

For the first time playing Forever, the band did a good job. Whether they piped in the acoustic guitar or not, I've seen bands do much worse. I would wager to say that almost every band pipes in something or other when they perform. Its the way it goes. That said, Live is better than most when it comes to that.

Its not a matter of "finding" something to bitch about, it's a matter of it just being presented to us on a silver platter is all.
I'm sure that is the first time they played forever yeah, I mean, theres no way they could have possibly practiced before. If this is the first time they've played it .. how did it get recorded then?
Sure bands pipe things in, I got no real problem with Live piping in the keys on Lakinis Juice like they have been for example, but piping in an acoustic guitar instead of just, you know, playing it? It's fair enough to pipe in keys when you don't have a keyboardist, but this just seems really different.

Also, I see what Ed is trying to do with his voice now and making it rougher, that version of Lightning Crashes seemed like the most eh .. "angsty" (for lack of a better term) in years, which is better than usual, but something just didn't quite sound right. Either way, I'll take this over falsetto-tight leather pants sounding vocals any day.

Man, I'm through with this band. This decade for them has been nothing but a joke for me.

Ellen. Again. Catering to housewives and the easy-listeners. Awful. Thanks for the 90s, Live.

housewives -- what is their deal?? if only they didn't have so much money Live might cater to the younger crowd a little more

also, we must remember that this was a tv performance. Maybe that's why they wanted to play 'safe' and Ed didn't wanted to play guitar so he could fully focus on singing the (not easy) song and performing (the reason Adam joins the band for a decade now). I know, that can't be an excuse (a good live band must play what they do on the record), but maybe it's because of the tv formance. Now I think about it: have you ever seen Ed playing a guitar when they played for television? I don't think so. But I agree with someone saying, that Chad or Adam could have done the acoustic part, but as I see them almost never holding an acoustic guitar, that would be weird as well.

However, maybe the live performances at shows will be different, and Ed will maybe just play the third, acoustic, guitar, just like he does when they perform Selling the Drama, The River, etc.

A good Live band must play what they do on a record? Studio and live versions are a completely different animal, my friend. Its not like, Ed's vocals or Chad's guitar were piped in. They performed the song.

Live is a great concert band, piping in an acoustic guitar on a television show does not change that fact. I've seen numerous bands over the years, and I can honestly say that no one touches Live when it comes to concert performance. But that's just me...

Yes. They played on Sharon Osbourne's show with Shelby Lynne, Run Away. And to kind of prove your point, he actually failed to hit some notes pretty noticably, early on.

You must have not seen many concerts then. That or you go to see many crappy bands. Don't get me wrong, Live is a good live band, but to say no one touches them is just plain wrong. Sure it's your opinion but that opinion is...

I've seen plenty of artists over the years, and Live by far is my favorite. Its all subjective though.

Bands that I've seen that I can remember:
Train
U2
Bon Jovi
Dave Matthews
Elton John
Bush
Fuel
3 Doors Down
Staind
Collective Soul
Default
Counting Crows
Jewel
Alanis
Matchbox Twenty
Seal
Dishwalla
Lifehouse
Goo Goo Dolls
Better Than Ezra
Third Eye Blind
There are a ton more, but that's enough for now.

First of all, I didn't see the Ellen performance. Sure I will, in the next week or so. But, Forever STILL kills me, and that won't change. We've been complaining about the band for a decade now...can't we stop?

Bands I've seen live, if to change the subject:

Live (only twice)
Counting Crows (with Live)
Galactic (with Live)
The Tea Party
"Weird Al" Yankovich (twice)
Nine Inch Nails
Autechre
13 & god
Sigur Ros
Bedouin Soundclash
Hawksley Workman
Bruce Cockburn
Vic Chesnutt
Matthew Good Band
Kataklysm
Bloc Party
...and probably more...could've seen Imogen Heap, but was broke...
