QUOTE(Pokey @ Jan 13 2009, 12:54 pm) *

Wouldn't make sense? What makes more sense, promoting a CD/DVD that has been out since November or an album that has been out for 15 years that if you are tuning in to see 'Live' you are most likely familiar with or have that album.
You people don't get it ... fuck what people want to hear ... the fact that everyone knows the song is the point, why not give them something new? Once upon a time no one knew Lightning Crashes, would you have prefered them to just continue playing Operation Spirit on every show they go on?
God the fact they're turning into a nostalgia band is just sad. Yes I'm all for playing as much of their back catelog at gigs as possible, but use precious/rare TV time to promote what you have now, not what you were doing on TV 15 years ago.

Don't waste your breath man, it's pointless.

This would be the perfect time to unleash a song like Purifier ... if Ellen is such a fan why is she harpering on about a hit that she's probably hear a million times ... I thought real fans would have been glad to get and hear as much material of the band as possible rather than just sticking to the same old same old. Its the same as watching the same movie over and over again without going to see anything new.

Maybe it's not Ellen that asked for LC... maybe that's the song that Live chose.

Then again, maybe it's Ellen's favorite song and Live is doing it as a favor, plus getting renewed exposure on TV.

Hell... she could introduce the band by holding up the Paradiso CD and say something like "from their new release "Live at the Paradiso Amsterdam.... here's Live!"

Either way, I'm stoked they're going to be on TV. I'll be recording it.

I had totally forgotten about them playing LC last time on Ellen - Has a band EVER played the same song on the same show more than once??? I certainly have never heard of it.

Positives LIVE on TV

A chance to perform LC better than last time

I think thats it

They lose nothing by performing a new song, people hear where they are at and they get a plug for Paradiso.

They gain nothing by performing such an old one other than 'Oh, thats LIVE, LIVE - oh yeah those guys I remember now' - and the same plug for paradiso.

But its a great song and maybe thats what ellen wanted, so go with it I guess. shrug.gif

Ellen usually has guests she likes play two songs. One during their main slot then a partial song during the credits. Maybe they'll use the latter to promote Forever.

You're through with this band because you happened to find out they were performing one of their biggest hits on Ellen? I hope you're joking, man. If you hadn't come here.. and had missed the announcement.. you'd still be a fan?

Ellen is one of their biggest fans. She presumably watched the dvd and loved it. Her favorite performance was probably LC (same as mine), and so she invited the band to perform that song on her show, one of the highest rated shows on tv.

Should Ed had dissed her and said 'no'? Some of you guys are nuts!

I've been less of a fan since 2003.

Live is lame anymore. They are NOT the same band people feel in love with. Some of you are "nuts."

Lightning Crashes AND Forever!

Yeah!!! rockin.gif I'm really lookin forward to know how the whole band will perform Forever, cuz the studio version isn't really guitar based or something.
I would be really pissed if it's just Ed on his acoustic guitar!! no.gif
