It's been a very long time since I've been on this board, but after reading that Ed was doing a solo show in Los Angeles in February, I decided to give him a shot and bought a pair of tickets.

Now, I've noticed that Ed has done a few solo sets in the past month. Does anyone know if these are full shows (say, 1.5 hours or more), or just mini-sets? What should I expect in February?

Thanks.

The last solo show Ed did was about 8 songs in length.

Dan - are these all Live songs? I would assume yes.

Yeah. Here's what Ed played in Modesto, CA last year (Dec 7)

1. I Alone
2. The Dolphin's Cry
3. Forever
4. Heaven
5. Lightning Crashes
Encore
6. Selling The Drama
7. Turn My Head

It would be awesome if he threw in a couple of covers or new tracks though.

Thanks for that. I just noticed this over in the tour section.

However, I also noticed that this was a Christmas festival-type show with a bunch of other artists. That would naturally make for a short setlist.

I'm curious if that's how short the L.A. show will be, or if Ed will play for a longer time since it will just be him.

I did see that Ed played a solo show in Vegas recently, but no setlist (or discussion of the show, period) has been posted.

Nobody from the SOY boards went to this show, so there's no setlist or review avaialable.
I did manage to find a short write-up in the Las Vegas Sun, but nothing about the actual show.

Live frontman Ed Kowalczyk performed an acoustic set to a sellout crowd at the Palazzo's Sportsbook Bar & Grill. While staying there in a luxury suite, the singer dined at Sushi Samba, where he discovered the delights of unfiltered Kamouzumi Nigori Ginjo sake. He loved it so much that he had bottles of the tonic sent to his green room at the concert, more while he watched O.A.R.'s show, more to his suite and then some to Lavo, where he unwound the rest of the night.

well there were a lill longer sets, for example in spring 2006 for promoting SFBM (the show that was recorded), but Ed didn't do so much solo shows over the years as far as I know.

But you know what, actually I like the idea that Ed is doing solo shows from time to time. Not that I would be interested to go to such a show (I would prefer the whole band), but I think it reduces the chance that Ed will ever go solo and quit Live. He's now the freedom to ALSO perform solo, while there are still plenty of full-band shows. that's a good sign!
