Anyone else a fan of this band? I've liked them since I saw them open up for the Pixies.

Dear Science is one of the best albums of 2008. Can't stop listening to it...especially Dancing Choose (this song is just all kinds of awesome):

I listened to it and wondered wtf Rolling Stone was thinking. This album won album of the year so I think it deserved a spin. I liked Dancing choose, Golden Age, and DlZ is decent but that was it... they suck. To me, Conor Obersts album was a great spin and King's X's "XV" was the best but that is personal.

What don't I like about TonR? I just attribute it to a lack of creativity sonically... They have great lyrics, the guy just can't enunciate or make anything stand out. He doesn't make good use of silence... always the incessant beat. It seems like they have a formula and are afraid to deviate. It is okay if the formula is good (like old live) but I just don't like the pattern.

Have to disagree with that. From the funky spoken word/sung Dancing Choose to the beautiful ballad Family Tree, every song on the album is pretty different from the other. Shoot, Stork & Owl doesn't even have a chorus. This is not a band that follows formulas.

Sorry, I've been listening to a lot of Zappa and Progressive rock so everything seems to be bland about now.

I don't know much about them but they were on Saturday Night Live last week.
