QUOTE(Costakoui @ Nov 23 2008, 9:55 am) *

It is disappointing to know that some reviewers criticize Live for singing about love and living together – this what they call “preaching”. I have been a social scientist for years, particularly in the fields of sociology and anthropology of health, and what I have learned is that “social integration”, which mainly derives from sharing common values and from living together, is one of the most important protective factors for individual and social equilibrium and happiness. As I see it, Live’s lyrics does not preach, it just reflects on social reality. This is one of the reasons why I consider Live the best band ever – not only because Live writes beautiful songs but also because I see in Live’s songs what I see in the people I study every day.

Very well said. You have to remember that most music critics are miserable human beings, therefore positive messages fly over their collective heads.

I went to the biggest record store in Oslo, probably the biggest in Norway. They said the DVD was only on import, because it havent been released in Norway. I bought the cd, but I think they only got the 2 copies that was standing there. When a new cd from a "big group or artist" comes out, they use to have lots off them you deliver the cover and you get a new one. When I was buying Paradiso they have to go looking to find the cd to put it in the cover. So I think if the biggest store in Norway have taken in about 10 cd's, this one is never gonne hit the charts in Norway no.gif

I have to said I am a little disappointed about the cd. The crowd is great but isn't Ed on autopilot? sad.gif Where is the talking between songs, why not try to make some of the songs a little different when you know this is going to be the first live cd. This cd is going to be bought by the fans, why come up with just the same version we have heard a hundred times before. I give it another round in my cd player, and then start to play some off the great bootlegs I have.

I didn't give the cd a proper listen yet, but there's a lot of Ed talking in the Paradiso concert! They must have cut that from the cd then? eh.gif And about making the songs a little different: a good example is They Stood up for Love, where Ed starts singing 'everything's gonna be allright', but I guess that one is cut from the cd as well then...?
Order the DVD, it's really worth it!

You know, I would have loved this album a few months ago, before I discovered all the high-quality bootlegs around here. To me now, it's just solid.

Still, I was a big Live fan back then as well, so keep in mind that perhaps not all the fans who buy this have heard the other bootlegs, and as such, it's a pretty solid release.

Exactly, Gruenspan was a far better show than the DVD and it was from the V era. It cut the crap and didn't leave out White discussion. I also like all the extra stuff added to the songs esp DC and I alone. And for the old stuff, I believe the Ritz was a good show esp for a crazy good Operation Spirit that I quote in my sig tongue.gif

Gotta give props to the DVD's Turn my head, best version I have.

I think the one you are quoting in your sig is from the 93 rhode island show, isnt that different from the ritz? or does he say the same thing at both shows... the rhode island show is my fav live bootleg, the version of operation spirit is awesome

So, I finally got Live at the Paradiso - Amsterdam last night. Got the CD version and the DVD version. US copies. First thing: Wasn't the DVD also supposed to come with the CD? I was under the impression that we were getting a CD-only release and also a DVD+CD combo. Not that it matters, but I guess it took me by surprise to pop that bad boy open and see only a DVD.

Beautiful show. Ed didn't whine too much. Touching addition of the lady crying during Lightning Crashes. Goes good with a few rum and cokes.

Tammy: "Are they going to play the placenta song?"
John: "You mean Deep Enough? I hope not."
Tammy: "........."

You can't be serious? That's possibly the worst moment of the entire DVD. The way many of the fans act in this DVD is cringe worthy. I'm embarrassed to show this DVD to friends.

i've received my copies today... and when i heard the cd (days ago a friend send me the files) i said "man, what a waste of time, that's the worst concert i've ever heard"... buuuut, today i saw the DVD with my girlfriend, my band, my mom and my aunt, and a neighbor... I LOVE THIS CONCERT!!! and i'm happy for the band bcause i know how hard is to be independent... with a label like they have... or used to have... i'm happy for them, i'm happy for me, and my band and I are ready to back to the stage (THANKS TO +LIVE+ AGAIN!!!)

only thing that i don't like... what about the title??? EDWARD KOWALCZYK - LIVE AT PARADISO/AMSTERDAM isn't the right title??? lol.gif

Only if you're afraid to show emotion. For me it touches the essence of what (this) music does with people. It is genuine and pure.

i do think its a good thing . Some things happen in your life and when you have a song in mind of that occasion whether its good of bad it can makes you cry or smile.

And that lady has a certain memory of that song and i can imagine it moved her.

But perhaps we Dutchies are a bit sentimental....and showing our emotions easy
