I actually like the way the DVD was filmed. It makes you like you are actually at the Paradiso, and not just a distant spectator. You can watch any youtube video of the band and see a static, far away angle of the performance. Kudos for the band for trying something different.

I don't want to start a huge flame war about this, but you can't tell me that the DVD wasn't edited by some ADD madman. Check this:

Here's a video of I Alone from some German TV network called WDR back in 2006:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=td4WKu2Fki4

Now here's I Alone from the Paradiso DVD:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MNOVpT2Hqfs

Quick cuts much? I watched the first video no problem. I had to stop the Paradiso one after the bridge. It's just too much.

That first video only has one or two "far away angle" shots of the band and to be honest, I'd take those any day over the quick ADD shots that the Paradiso DVD has on every song.

God forbid the DVD show Gracey's drum solo at the end except for the last 2 seconds when Ed jumps on the riser.

I can find more examples, but it just bums me out.

It's all a matter of taste, right. I've seen the dvd in the theatre on a huge screen and over all it didn't bother me. Actually I like the dynamics of it though maybe then went a bit over the edge on some tracks. Slower songs have more relaxed edits, groovier songs like LJ and IA have very short cuts. Anyway, the dvd is produced in close cooperation with the band so this is the dvd they wanted to make. Like it or not smile.gif

Nothing will make you feel in Paradiso except for Paradiso. Please, don't even try to bother arguing.

I totally agree with Gertjan: It IS a matter of taste and if you don't like it than don't like it.
Don't bother watching --> enjoy the things YOU like and let the others like +LIVE+.
I also saw it in Tuschinsky and it really rocked and felt great.. yahoo.gif

This is very true, however it's hard to not be disappointed, it'd be different if it were a band I didn't even like in the first place, it's just easy to dismiss and go "well I'm just not going to invest any time in this" ... but when its a band/music whatever that you have great emotional attachment to and love for and you wait a long time for and end up disappointed, well I know that's just the way things go, but it's not just black and white.

I completely agree. I basically put the DVD on my shelf and listen to the CD. I want to support the band, but I'm not happy with this DVD at all.

Maybe the simple fact that I was present on the first day (June, 30th) at Paradiso made it more than special for me.
To recognize and feel again the feeling I had when I was at Paradiso is great.
What if I had not been at this performance and still had bought the DVD --> I think it would have been "different" , definitely not bad but less "close to the heart".
