I bet you haven't even watched the DVD yet, because Ed sounds awesome on it.

Why would that make any difference, its the same recording.

I agree his voice wears a bit thin sometimes, but i've heard him sing a lot worse ... he at least didn't go as hardcore falsetto on these tracks as he's done in the past. When you talk embarrassingly bad vocal performances that 2001 bootleg where they did like 28 songs or something massive was for the most part absolutely shocking, Herospychodreamer was just balls.

I thought his voice sounded fine, on most songs. Sounds a little off on Turn My Head, though.

Also, I decided not to buy the dvd. From the 4 free songs on youtube, I absolutely hate the editing, and would not be able to sit through that for an hour, even if it is Live.

I usually can't sit and watch DVD's, but the Paradiso DVD is amazing. It just blows the BOP version out of the water. Even though I enjoy the CD, I don't think the CD compares in anyway in quality.

I'd much prefer the BOP one, the whole "makes you feel like you're there" thing people are saying about the new DVD ... well that'd be true if you were a fucking fly. Sadly I think it has overall just been another missed oppertunity by Live ... but oh well, thankfully no one takes live dvd/best of releases that seriously, the next new album will be the telling thing.

Also when Ed first screams "SPIRIT!" in Operation Spirit, it is probably the single worst moment for Live ever.

Seeing excerpts of the DVD on Youtube and watching the DVD on a hi-def television with a good sound system are too entirely different experiences.

Seeing it on youtube and seeing it on a hi-def tv doesn't change the camera angle cuts and the lighting of the original source which is my problem with it. My problem isn't how clear the picture is or how crisp the image looks. Like I said, the audio quality is amazing, no complaints there, however I just can't focus on the performance because of the way it's filmed and that won't change no matter what format you watch it in.

I think you are expecting way to much out of a concert DVD. Out of any of the music DVD's I've seen this is by far one of the better ones. To bitch about some of the angles is just petty. The DVD should be about 90% sound and 10% visual, and this DVD in a really good 5.1 surround sound system is absolutely amazing. No one can deny the quality of the audio. The video while choppy at times is still worth the price of actually buying this DVD. Sorry that the Coen Brothers couldn't direct the this DVD for you.

Well said. "If you're a fly" lol.gif My thoughts exactly.

Those videos from Pinkpop were pretty good, because they offered long takes of Ed, and it's his captivating performance that makes the band great in concert. From what I've seen, Paradiso doesn't do that as well.

It's not a question of the performance, but rather, the hyperactive editing.

How is it expecting too much when there are other concert DVDs out there that are shot perfectly or at least better than this? How is it petty to expect more from the visual of a DVD, to say a DVD is only about being 10% visual is crap, if you're so concerned with the audio just buy the CD. The angles are so all over the place it's hard to register what the hell is going on, by the time i've taken in what I've just seen something else is happening. Next I was expecting a camera to be installed in Taylor's foot so we had stomp cam .. sounds cool in concept I know. Definitely not denying the audio awesomeness but the way it was filmed is messed up .. im more than happy with just the audio CD. It's just a pet hate really, like action scenes in movies like the bourne movies for example, shaky cam annoys the hell out of me.

Ah sorry, I forgot to put the ever needed "IMO" in front of everything I say, I forget sometimes people can't work that one out on their own.

Completely agree about his voice on that bootleg. What he did to Heropsychodreamer should have resulted in a custodial sentence. It’s a shame as it was otherwise a cracking version of the song.

I can see your point, but I actually quite like the way the cam goes: for me it adds some extra energy to the whole show/

2001 Grunspan?

One of the best bootlegs ever.
