I wonder what he would sound like singing Stage or Top now.

I agree that I walk the line should not be there.

I'd rather have the old stuff back if they're not going to make any more new stuff soon.

....and ditto on freaks.

This is still my best:

PoD

Edited to add:

Oh...did I mention how damn sexy he is in this video??? OMG. Old bad eyes.

I love sparkle... It could have been a hit if they would have given it a less gay name. Call it "Overcome" and then don't release the real Overcome laugh.gif

There are videos of Sparkle out there and it seems like a very natural song to perform live. An easy chorus, plenty of frenzied drumming at the end, the old fashioned sexual progression of slow to fast that live used to do.

PoD is a fantastic song and every time I find myself waiting till the end just to sing the background part (Here I am locking horns...) It was the first video I ever watched of them on the internet.

ofcourse you all are entitled to your own opinion, smile.gif but don't you all like the rocking I walk the Line?? sarcasm.gif I honestly consider it as one of the highlights on the DVD. I can see you don't like Live playing covers instead of other songs, but they are REALLY good in covering songs of other artist in my opinion. Please critisise Live playing Wings or The River, where they could have played the songs you mentioned (Stage for example). But I Walk the Line is one of the last songs in the current setlist that I would like to have removed...

Nothing wrong with IWTL. Great song with J.C and Live is doing a realy great cover, is just that we all have ouer favorites and I just love to see Freaks,Waitress,PoD and some other songs. And then it's easy to say forget the covers and play the Live songs.

IWTL is a great song, don't get me wrong, but there are better songs that could have gone onto the DVD. You know, give us something different for a change, instead of the run of the mill setlist that never seems to change. There's not all that much difference between Awake and Paradiso is there??? 70% of the songs are the same.

Don't you think IWTL has been a little over done?? It's everywhere. It's their most famous cover, but sheesh, enough already, give us some of the oldies...some of their originals. PoD, TDAOC, Top, Stage, Sun....brilliant songs but never get any play.

If we're going to talk about covers, I personally think the best one they've ever done is Running to stand still by U2.

Why they didn't market that is beyond me. It was brilliant. And I'm sure U2 would have minded giving them permission. I know it doesn't have the same vibe, but hell. It was amazing.

Of course the setlist is 70 percent similar to Awake, their hits have the most "mass" appeal.
I Walk the Line is an amazing song in concert and deserved inclusion on this DVD.

I prefer their Imagine cover but I'm sure it would cost a lot to get permission to sell a cover of it.

A few random notes...

I think I Walk the Line should definitely be on there. I bought only the CD, but I think it's without a doubt one of the top three best performed songs on the disc.

I think songs like Dance With You, Heaven, and The River should have been cut in favor of Shit Towne, TDAOC, and White Discussion. As much as Nick says the hits have mass appeal, that doesn't include trash songs like Heaven or The River. So long as the disc has Lightning Crashes, I Alone and All Over You, it would have satisfied 95% of the casual, big hit loving fans.

Finally, I have to say that I find Ed's vocal performance really embarrassing. I think it plain blows on just about every song. The sad thing is is that while Ed certainly will never have again the voice he had just eight years ago, he still does a lot better than this on most nights these days. This was without a doubt one of the worst shows I've ever heard him sing and it's the DVD and live album. I guess that's what happens, but maybe they should have had a contingency plan in case something like that happened? I dunno, but I think it's a shame.

I bet you haven't even watched the DVD yet, because Ed sounds awesome on it.

Nope, but out of the four full songs I saw on youtube, he was universally bad just as he was on the CD.

Get the actual DVD. It sounds amazing. The CD sounds good, but live performance albums never compare with their studio counterparts.

Can't wait for the damn DVD to be deliverd. Tick Tock Tick Tock.

It's killing me.

I thought the four songs on youtube were really good. The crowd looked amazing. The production looks amazing. And I think Ed sounded great.

Now if that DVD would hurry up and get here, I could watch it on the big screen.
