Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question, but to the Dutch fans who received a copy of the CD/DVD at the premiere or who have purchased it from BOL - is the writing on the cover/dvd/cd/menus in Dutch or in English?

Thanks. I think I'm going to order it from BOL.com rather than wait for an Australian release date.

QUOTE(Bob @ Nov 3 2008, 10:33 am) *

Just wondering... how many of you have pre-ordered either the CD or DVD online already? How many of you are planning on trying to find it in a store on its release date? I'd really like to get it the day it's released, but Best Buy's website doesn't even have a listing for it, which kinda scares me a bit. I can order it online, obviously, but I wanted to pick it up on Day One at a store.

I was wondering the same thing so I went down to my local Best Buy. They WILL have it on Tuesday. Here are the UPC codes:

DVD 015707989893
CD 015707989725

My Best Buy has only 2 DVD's and 7 CD's. I assume most will have the same number of each.

Thanks for that information. I wouldn't be able to get to my local Best Buy until about 7pm, so I ordered them both from FOL. Hopefully I'll get them before the weekend. smile.gif

Music Review: LIVE - LIVE at the Paradiso - Amsterdam

In the early '90s, alternative rock band LIVE began an amazing career, hitting the airwaves with a series of singles that still resonate with listeners around the world. Their hits "All Over You," "The Dolphin's Cry," "Lightning Crashes," and "I Alone" still score steady airplay on radio stations. And after four platinum records (Mental Jewelry, Throwing Copper, Secret Samadhi, and The Distance to Here) in the last 20-plus years, the band still leaves their fans rabid for new music and concerts.

On November 11, 2008, LIVE — Ed Kowlczyk (vocals/guitar), Chad Taylor (lead guitar), Patrick Dahlheimer (bass guitar), and Chad Gracey (drums) — will release their first concert album, LIVE at the Paradiso - Amsterdam, on both CD and DVD with high-definition surround sound.

Recorded over two nights (June 30th and July 1st, 2008), the 16-track CD contains their biggest hits, including "I Alone," "Lightning Crashes," and "The Dolphin's Cry," among others. Two new studio tracks — "Forever" and "Purifier" — round out the album.

In a statement on the release, Kowlczyk says, "The filming and recording of LIVE at the Paradiso was a magical process from start to finish." Of album's live audience, he notes, "Dutch LIVE fans are some of our most devoted on the globe, and they practically steal the show from us. Whether you're watching the DVD or listening to the album, the intense and mutual love between the fans and the band is unmistakable."

A great live album makes you jealous that you weren't present at the event it documents and LIVE at the Paradiso - Amsterdam certainly qualifies as such. It not only captures the passion of the band, but also that of their fans, who can be heard singing in the background at the top of their lungs.

Among the best tracks — and it's tough to choose among them — have to be "The Dolphin's Cry," "Lightning Crashes" and "I Alone." The studio versions of these songs are powerful, but with the palpable enthusiasm of the audience involved, Kowlczyk really shines. You can hear his emotion build and yet he also lets the adoration from the audience further guide and fuel it throughout the performance.

Unfortunately, the two studio tracks, "Forever" and "Purifier," come off as anti-climactic after the enthusiasm of the live tracks before them. "Forever," which is streaming on LIVE's MySpace page, has less energy than "Purifier," but it's just great to know that the band is still recording new tracks!

For LIVE fans all over the world, LIVE at the Paradiso - Amsterdam is an early gift for the holidays.

Track Listing for the CD:

Simple Creed
All Over You
The River
The Dolphin's Cry
I Walk The Line
Selling The Drama
Lightning Crashes
Turn My Head
I Alone
Heaven
Lakini's Juice
Overcome
Operation Spirit
Dance With You
Forever
Purifier

Well, tomorrow morning I will once again relive that timeless moment: Getting the Live album on the morning of its release. I was there, sitting outside the doors to HMV for The Distance to Here, V, Birds of Pray, Awake: The Best of Live, Songs From Black Mountain, and now I'll be there for Live at the Paradiso - Amsterdam. I almost made it for the release of Secret Samadhi, but I actually got that one on the night of February 19, 1997. There's something so fantastic about sipping that Tim Horton's coffee and watching the workers prepare for their day before the doors swing open and you first lay your hands on that pristine new disc. smile.gif

Sounds good. I'm hoping the disc is actually on display and I won't have to ask someone to pull it from the back.

That's what always happens when I go on the first day to buy music... I know it won't happen for Chinese Democracy but I bet it will happen for This disc too. I preordered it though... so who knows when I'll see it.

Dunno if anyone's mentioned yet, but in my time zone it's 20 minutes past midnight, and the album is now available on itunes. interestingly, it has a bonus track... the previously cut "They Stood Up for Love."

This is good and all - one of my favorites - but it's not the same without the organ. After watching the preview of it, it's easy to understand why it got cut.

Still, nice to have it included anyway!

I'm in Melbourne. Ordered from bol.com - used babelfish to translate the site as i went along; I don't read dutch too well.

Ordered it on the 4th, got an email on the 7th saying it was actually shipped out on the 4th (??) and would take something like eight to ten working days. Took half that. I dunno, maybe I translated it wrong but I'm watching the dvd as I type this so I'm happy.

And yes, all in English.

Gotta say though, Ed's voice is *definitely* on its way out. He hurt my ears at one point during the dolphin's cry. Other songs, when he wasn't trying too hard, are just awesome though and the band hasn't lost anything either. Expected better but I'm still enjoying this smile.gif

Cool. Thanks for the info. I'm going to bite the bullet and order from those guys. I can't wait forever for it to be released in Australia.
