I think it's outrageous to criticize someone for voting for a candidate that stands no chance.

You have 2 candidates that have a chance - Obama/McCain.

Not voting for the one you prefer, or voting for someone off the wall, subtracts a vote from the person you would prefer ... therefore adding a vote to the person you do not prefer.

Voting for one of the two is the educated decision.

Voting for someone else shows why the rest of the world thinks Americans are ignorant and stupid.

It's only 10 pm eastern time and Obama is kicking ass. The election is all but over already in a landslide of electoral points that McCain couldn't afford to lose!

6:34am.

John Mac just gave his concession speech and congratulated Obama.

Obama is officially the US president now.

CNN has been on all night.

Well, here's how it is:

I just finished my election wine. It was proper tasty.

So, Obama's in. No surprise. 338 to 155, at present. So, more then 200% what John McCain got. Good. I guess. It's one thing to win an election. It's another to actually perform that task. After some (admittedly) rather biased viewing of Zeitgeist: Addendum, I have to say that I'll need to see results before I throw in my TC-era logo-embroidered hat. John McCain's recession speech was poetic and well-written. His audience.........was a piece of shit that could not take a loss gracefully. I honestly commend McCain for delivering that speech in front of that insanely over-bearing partisan crowd. Good on him. He must have known he'd take some hits, but bless him for it. At least he took the loss realistically. I don't think any rational person can argue that McCain was doomed long ago. But, at the last moment, he did congratulate Obama and hope for the best result. The fact that people in the crowd actually BOOed this statement really makes me cringe. I fear for the BOOers. Move on. Really. Get over shit, as it were.

As for Obama......well, I would have liked to see Ron Paul get in. BUT.....when it comes down to the two big-namers, I think Obama is the best option out there. He had a beautiful speech. But, words are just words. Even if one million people are cheering you on while you deliver those words.....they're just words. So, good on Obama for getting in. I knew you'd do it. But damn....you have a Hell of a task in front of you. Prove yourself beyond words. Prove the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA beyond words. The last 7-to-8 years have been some of America's worst. And the world's view of the country is a reflection of that. I fucking pray to the non-god I believe in, that Barack Obama can redeem America.

Election is one thing. Verifiable change is another.
