I really hope a buzz gets around and live starts hearing that people really like this song. I wouldnt say I am the biggest live fan but I do have many songs from 10 years ago or so and do like them. This was infact one of the best songs I've heard in a long time and I hope the band will release it. We should figure out how to get in contact with them to let them know

They know. They've been told by many people in many situations how much fans would like a mixed/mastered version to enjoy. Not to be negative, but it seems that if the band really cared, they'd have made it happen by now, new label or no. no.gif

Ridley - thank you so much for getting the song out! I saw the movie yesterday and I knew it was Live as soon as I heard a verse. It's such a shame it wasn't on the soundtrack!

I really, really try and get excited about the new stuff - but I guess it's the old stuff that still has me. Just like this song. Sure, it's from 1995, but I'm totally excited to be able to hear it now!

By that: does the man still produce bands at all?

As recently as 2004, according to this website:

http://www.discogs.com/artist/Jerry+Harrison

The last album he worked on was with a band called Love Not Dead.

You must admit, like it or not, the sound quality was gimped up. Where is that guy around here that cares about sound quality?? He'll back me up.

I would assume you are talking about me, because I have made a stink about it with Live's albums. To say I back you up is an understatement. The sound quality on Death Magnetic is so bad, fans have asked for the album to be re-mastered, and the mastering engineer is so upset with how Metallica/the record company wanted it, he doesn't want his name associated with it.

And not to hijack the thread....but....for those who have purchased Zeitgeist by Smashing Pumpkins.....take a listen at how these songs could have sounded:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=3K5ZXVQD

Granted, these are acoustic versions, but listen to how good they sound when everything in the mix isn't as loud as it possibly could be. Bleeding the Orchid sounds incredible. It really makes me sad when I wonder how much music has been ruined by the loudness war. I can't wait for when TC, SS, and TDTH get re-released with full dynamic range....let's hope that one day it will happen.

Now where's the other guy who always refutes what I say and tells me I'm crazy? lol.gif

To me, Hold me up is the best song ever made by Live and one of the best in the rock history. It is a pity that the song has never been released but it is Live that loses, commercially, and of course the rock music. We have a studio version of the song, so play it and enjoy regardless of its status in the industry.

I just dont get it. The song is almost 15 years old. If they dont put it on the next album they should put it on itunes or something to get the studio mastered version out there for fans to hear.

They don't own the song... it is owned by the old Label...

So if the labels owns it why dont they release it? Labels are only interested in money so putting it on itunes would net them a profit and let the fans who really want to hear the tune in great quality finally be able to.

Is the track listed in the closing credits? We should be able to see which record company owns the rights to the track.

The discussion side of IMDB's Zack and Miri page also has a lot of fans clamoring for this song to be released.

Could someone get on one of those sites that let you watch movies and just record it and put the section on youtube? I don't have time to go out to movies.

I don't know what sites you're talking about. But when a torrent of the movie appears (either a screener, cam or telesync) - i'll rip the part of the movie that features Hold Me Up and upload it somewhere.

Yes, the song was in the closing credits - I was looking for it. I believe that Radioactive was the record company listed, but I'm not 100% sure on that... I was just excited to see their name up there.
