Ditto, seems like yesterday it was summer when we were booze bags having fun. Then two of the coolest people (with names that ironically start with D) me & J-burd met had to move away and go back home. J-burd, Croxley run this Wednesday to suppress the pain.

booze bags? lol. booze bags filled with caucasions (spelling?), jager, beer, p&j shots and some more jager. oh, and citron with lemonade. have i left anything out?

i can't believe it's been almost a year.

When are you coming to the states again, dana?

i want to, but i'm not sure when i'm going to have enough money for that again. i'm going to be digging for about 2 months this summer and then i'm starting university again so i don't know when i'll be working long enough hours to actually have that kind of money.

Hey cool, I am too!! Or better, in theory; not so easy to find a job in archaeology over here...
I've specialized in Egyptian history, but I also took all classes in Greek archaeology. Where are you gonna dig this summer?

it's not so easy here as well, you need to either go work for the antiquity authority and do lousy jobs for the first couple of years, or stay in the academy, which is what i'm doing. kind of. i was working in my previous university for several years but i'm transferring to a different one for the rest of this degree, so i'm not really working there anymore. but i am going to work at the lab in my new school. ugh. too much rambling.
anyway, i'm going to dig in Misliya which is in the Carmel Mountains. the aim is to find some evidence of some kind of a relationship between homo sapiens and neanderthals. the other site is called Ruhama and it's in the south. it's about a million years old.

have you ever been to egypt? so i guess you've studied ancient egyptian. i think i still remember most of mine. : )

Sounds interesting!! And it looks like a really nice place to dig too (found some pics on the internet) That's one of the things I love about archaeology; how you get to work & live in the middle of nowhere all around the world...
I spent seven weeks in Egypt last year, in Deir al-Barsha (Middle-Egypt). I was part of the pottery team, so I couldn't do any digging myself (stupid prof decided that the actual digging should be done by egyptologists, not by archaeologists), but still it was amazing to be part of it!

Surprisingly, I haven't studied ancient egyptian! It took in way to many study points and I didn't really need it for my thesis. I feel kinda sorry for that now...
