For me V > Forever >/= Bop > SFBM

V was all over the place, it was original and is unlike anything I have heard before. That doesn't make it good but I have heard songs like Forever.

This isn't going to be a hit single without album backing OR Label backing.

EDIT: I don't hear any angst in the song whatsoever. But then again I also don't hear any high pitched squeals that embarrass me to this day. uhoh.gif

No song becomes a hit without the proper backing. However, you don't need a studio album to make a hit single. This song will be HUGE overseas, the US is wait and see.

indeed, there are many, many of examples of songs that weren't placed on a album (but for a soundtrack, greatest hits, a single just in between albums, etc.) that became one of a bands biggest hits.

I really hope this song will do it for Live! thumbsup.gif

btw did anyone noticed this song on the radio somewhere, in the meantime since Shadow posted this? It's really strange SouthAfrica radio had it that early, and besides that radio station it is nowhere else played?
Maybe was the station not allowed to play it, and other radiostations in the US and Europe will start playing it when they are allowed (anytime soon)?

by that, any thoughts about a video for the song (which can give it a much better chance for becoming succesfull). I actually doubt it (since WDID and Mystery didnt get a video), but maybe they could make a video that is DVD releated (with Paradiso footage in it, or backstage stuff being showed).

That was quick. Glad I jumped right on emailing them right after we got the MP3.

Thanks for sharing this y'all

I love Ed's vocals, as always - but this tune, like most of SFBM, ain't my Live bliss
Maybe it'll grow on me, highly doubt it since SFBM is growing dust somewhere in my house and this doesn't strike me as an improvement, but if it does make it to U.S. radio, I'll support it and maybe it'll do something for me then. Here in Detroit, I can't think of who would play this. 89X hasn't played Live since The Dolphin's Cry, WRIF only plays TC tunes. Good luck with this. I still love Live. Forever and ever. Hey - there is meaning in this for me after all. hehe.gif

I'm pretty sure that 96.3 WDVD in Detroit played Mystery with Chris Daughtry quite a bit in 2006. It nightly won the new song face-off, but was not a true single and faded away. I also think the same station had Heaven in its rotation in 2003/04. Forever has a shot to make it there.

A few things.....

I thought the jabs at the original poster were over the deep end....which is saying a lot considering what an internet douche bag I can be.

This site is being turned into a joke and Nick is letting it burn to the ground. Quit trying to be so diplomatic Nick and grow some balls. You know precisely what you need to do in order to draw back the crowd that once frequented here. Clean this motherfucking place up already, be a man.

On the song? It has flashes of something great but overall is quite below average by my standard for this band. It screams U2 at me right away. Lyrically, it is quite lacking again by my standard for Ed as a songwriter. Musically the same. Nothing really stands out.

But with that said, nothing on SFBM comes close to this tune. This is much less ummm.....fruity? I'd be much less ashamed to play this for a friend than I would anything from SFBM. But it's still not very good. Same old structure and lack of guitar and alternative drum style. But I'll accept it as a definate improvement and step in the right direction.

Nick, get your ass in gear and do what you know needs to be done.

You kinda hit the nail on the head for me there Luke, I honestly would be less embarrassed playing this to friends than anything on SFBM, good way to sum it up. However if they asked what Live was like this would still not be the song I play for them.

Couldn't agree with you more man. But I can definately listen to it without my ears bleeding or wondering if anybody else can hear what I'm listening to on my IPOD. It's kind of embarassing when people hear you listening to Songs From Brokeback Mountain.... guitar.gif
