What's your driving test like over there? When I first got my license here in Florida, all I had to do was take my own car to the DMV "course," where I had to drive it around about a 200ft long loop that had one stop sign in the middle. If I could stay on the road, keep it under the 25mph speed limit, and stop at the stop sign, I passed. I've heard it's much harder other places, so let's hear it!

A theory test, compromising of 50 multipe choice questions about every aspect of driving. 43 must be answered correctly to pass. Then, a 30-35 minute practical test where you must get under 16 minor faults (eg a late mirror check, one minor), and no serious faults (you know, riding the kerb, CRASHING~!) to pass.

Quite thorough, I guess.

Sounds like mine... the multiple choice one is mostly drug laws and obscure road signs. I'm from Texas so I dunno how different the driving part is but the first thing I did was parallel park and then reverse in a straight line for a about 75 feet. Then you go on a quaint drive through the neighborhood. They also make sure you know how to use hand signs and blinkers.

Guys, this fucking makes me think of the fact I should have chosen another country to get a license.

Here is the story.

3 months of studying. Then comes the school exam.

It includes:

-Theory test - you are given 20 random questions outta 800 you should have learned for the exam and if you make 3 mistakes, you fail.

-After that - the practical "grounds" test. You shall climb a hill (in a car to avoid questions), stopping in the middle and then carrying on with the climbing, thn you shall park bacwards and than a U-turn within three movements or how it is called I dunno.

-Third part - city driving. With all the heavy traffic and fucking twats behind the wheels I had to start driving, turn left and park. That was for a school exam.

The same parts go for the state exam, but cops are in charge of the process and hardly anyone passes. So when I did my best with the first two parts, they for sure made me fail the city driving. I had to pay loads of money and in a week I came again to pass the exam.

That was it. But city driving on the street took me about 20 minutes, which is quite scary for the newbie yanno.

Cheers Ed. Sadly though, I failed. Did really well, but one little mishap at a junction cost me it. So I'm dissapointed (mostly because of the money I'm going to have to keep shilling out to pass), but I won't cry any time soon. Tried, messed up - no worries, just going to regroup and go back again stronger and better.

I was coming up to the mini roundabout, slowing down as you do. A car was coming from the right, doing the same thing. Not sure why, but I thought he was stopping, so I went a bit further forward than I should have done. He kept coming as he had right to do (give way to the right and all that), which meant I had to put my breaks on quite sharpish. Thing was, instructor slammed the breaks on first. Dangerous fault, junction observation it went down as.

Damn, when you get more experience, you will be more sorry about this failure! lol.gif Cheer up. I did nearly the same. The problem was that I was in quite a tricky situation and later even the qualified drivers said they would have hardly gotten outta the way I was involved in.

Haha, damn. Yeah, I'm not upset really, staying optimistic. Could be worse, there's a girl who shares my driving instructor who's ALSO taken her test today and failed. Not because she personally made an error though (well I suppose she did), but it happened when a car pulled out in front of her. I'm assuming this led to her doing something wrong, but yeah. My mistake was entirely my own, sounds like hers was brought on my some other fucker. Damned unlucky.

Wow that sucks man, sounds like the test is really hard. I'm not sure if you're allowed to drive there before you get your license like you are here with a permit, but definitely try to practice driving around as much as you can since practice makes perfect. Best of luck next time!
