-The band is heading into the studio shortly to record a new song for the DVD.

-The DVD release date in the US is currently set for October 31st, which I find odd. However it does coincide with the release date for Zack and Miri.

-The band will tour the US in Spring 2009

-New album planned for Fall 2009

wow, they're re-recording Lift me Up to release it as a single?! That's pretty cool! happy.gif

just kiddin' nod.gif but how do you know about this? Recording one new song in the studio could be interesting. They can use all their ideas now in one song, so I hope they make it a good one! (and maybe a single?). They've never entered the studio for recording one new song before, as far as I remember, except for I walk the Line.

New album being planned for Fall 2009 is good for me, but it doesn't say anything if they just 'planned that', cuz they stated earlier that new work would be recorded at the end of 2007. It didn't happen... So, maybe they will head into the studio very soon, maybe it's somewhere in 2010. We'll see!

That's what I thought Ed told me backstage. I was right the first time!

Nick, where do those rumours come from? Howcome you never offer us all a source when it comes to you posting something about the band?

CD/DVDs in the United States street on Tuesdays. There are exceptions to this, but it is extremely rare. So October 31st is highly unlikely.

The source of the rumors is a regular poster on this board and SOY. If he wants to come forward, he is more than welcome. I will not be "blowing his spot" though.

What is he? A musical spy?

Unless it is indeed an indie release. Then they could release any day they want.

Metallica's latest Death Magnetic CD was released on a Friday and there have been a few other bands that have released new stuff on Friday, so I wouldn't count it completely out just because it's not considered "the norm". Hell... this could be considered the new norm. smile.gif

Curious as to why CD's are indeed released on Tuesdays as opposed to any other day of the week, I consulted Google and found this response:

"Because weekend sales are calculated through Monday, so Tuesday begins a new week and they get the full benefit of a 7 day sales week."

Exactly, they want to get the highest number of sales in any given week. Metallica did it, but that was guaranteed to sell well and had some serious marketing dollars behind it. Without that money, you need the free publicity that comes with being featured on the "Out this Tuesday..." lists and in store advertisements. You miss that window with a late week release, a lot of the time. Again, assuming there isn't a serious ad budget to make it above the fold.

Radiant Sea was released on a Friday. Indie. I have a feeling were looking at a similar situation here. You'll be able to buy the DVD at shows and off the website, but I doubt we're looking at a National release on this one.
