Yeah, in terms of the song. I think Heaven will forever be their most successful single since TDC.

But if you think that Lift Me Up is an average song that cannot be a hit, then what kind of music you think Live should be producing for commercial success? On the one hand you and others stress that Live should return to the raw and energetic sound ala TC or SS, and on the other hand you chatacterize Lift Me Up as an average song. I have no knowledge in music but most listeners don't anyway. In my opinion Lift Me Up is fantastic and it will be a hit, if not in the US certainly in Europe and Australia, and possibly in Canada.

I think that you don’t remember well. Go back to the forum threads and you will see that Lift Me Up is the most popular and most wanted unreleased song among Live fans.

Just because Live fans want to hear it doesn't mean it'll be a hit. Of all the unreleased outtakes I am aware of, I actually think the song Mallrat, with a little fine tuning, would make the biggest impact on US radio. Lift Me Up is a pretty sweet song, but US radio success isn't going to happen.

well maybe it works because of the TC-vibe that Lift me Up has. Maybe old fans will recognise, maybe not.

Fact is that Live thought TC-era track We Deal in Dreams was good enough as a single, so, come on, Lift me Up is even better so why not release more TC stuff as a single as well.

In my opinion chances of succes for a Lift me Up single would be comparable to an All over You single (was that song even released as a single at all back then?).

Yes. It was radio-only (no video)

Ya gotta think though, would anything off TC be a hit right now if it was made present day? I don't think so really. Maybe if Live were a fresh new band on the scene. But given what damage they've done to their reputation, I don't think TC would get anywhere near the response it did in '94.

Lift me up is a decent song though and it does have some single potential, especially overseas. The U.S may be a different story though. But fuck the U.S anyhow, they don't seem to know piss all about anything nowadays.

Absolutely, Luke. I do not have to post much here lately. You say it all.

I think it is a good idea to listen to TC again. Do you think that this album is outdated? Selling the drama and I Alone would possibly be big hits today, too. If Lift me up is promoted it can be every where - it is catchy, it rocks and, above all, it is memorable.

I think if it were released as a single the fact that it would simultaneously appear in a kevin smith movie (given that said kevin smith movie were a chasing amy and not a jersey girl) would certainly help it along.

In fact, what would really get people jammin the phone lines and influencing frequent radio rotation would be if smith used the track as the theme for the trailer. Those dreamy verses and rolling choruses would make the hairs stand up on anyones neck, considering the visual imagery were equally as powerful.

I dont get all the talk of this being a sub-par/ bad single. Do we mean compared to the stuff thats out there on the charts today? I fucking hope not. Or are we saying by live's standards? I really fucking hope not. Since when does a bridge that doesnt flow or average chord progression stop something from being successful? Or are we disregarding the material "success" of the song as a single and focussing on the....fuck i really dont know. The song is beautiful.

Nobody's doubting that the song is good. It just won't get anywhere on the charts in the US, and I guess you need to listen to US radio to understand why.

It sounds like listeners as a group in the US is very homogenous. Besides, who said that we are talking about the US here or that the US should be the standard for comparative reasons?
