Nicely said, Pokey. I agree totally -- Obama uses campaign tactics that are eerily similar to those used by Bush, albeit with a positive message. Still, the guy reeks of shit, is known to be dishonest himself, and is going to tax the balls out of me for no good reason. Fuck him.

It's hard to win with anyone... South Park put it best with the Douche bag vs Turd Sandwich vote episode. Both candidates suck but we can all be glad that McCain isn't a Neocon. If history repeats itself, and it usually does, when economic instability comes the current party is thrown from the presidential office. It got FDR and Carter in and it will get Obama in.

I still think Ron Paul kicks ass whistle.gif

I can't honestly say I know a whole lot about either candidate's proposed policies. From what I know, Obama is black, a far better public speaker and if you believe internet imgaes he's also fucked Hilary Clinton up the ass. McCain is old. That's all I know about him. Could someone simplifiy what they stand for in this thread, like, list the pros and cons of Obama and McCain.

And also, do you really think WHOEVER gets in will make any major major changes at all? Nobody ever seems to.

I just found out Obama is 47 .. what the fuck? The man has obviously got something up his sleeve, like the fountain of youth, I'd not have guessed that. Him and Weird Al must hang out together a lot.

and proceeding to add your own, Obama-inspired lyrics.

Oh god, please no! He didn't did he? I can't bear to watch.

Me thinks Ed had finally fallen headlong into the abyss of complete and unbridled twatdom.

More proof that talented artists (like Ed) don't know a damn thing about the real world. Oh well, neither candidate blows me away.

I'd like everyone to go through this activity from USA Today to see how they actually line up with the candidates. A lot of people don't even have reasons behind their voting, so this can give you some actual insight with how the candidates align to your actual beliefs. Even you're not American you can still try it from your perspective:

Candidate Match Game

Here's the description:

About the game

USA TODAY researched candidate positions on a range of top issues. We then devised issue statements that help differentiate the candidates and their stances.

As you answer the questions, you can roll over each issue button to find background on their positions. Your answers are matched with the positions of the presidential hopefuls to reveal who is closest to your views. The sliders allow you to assign relative weights to match the importance that you place on each issue.

USA TODAY welcomes your feedback. Let us know in the comments area below how you fared, which candidate aligns with you and how you liked the game.

Let us know how it looks. I can tell you I line up with Obama!

Also - here is a link to the original game with the initial 17 candidates if you are so inclined to see who initially aligned with you best:

So based on that useless type of game my results went:

1 Dodd
2 Kucinich
3 Obama

Mitt Romney and myself would probably get into a fight, looks like we agree on nothing.

Not that my opinion matters ... what needs to happen is the Victorian state government needs to get rid of john fucking brumby and put a real leader in charge ... I'm dreading the next state elections here because I would rather vote for a packet of peanuts to lead this state than either party leader. Basically whoever is willing to overhaul the transportation system in a major way and not give Connex another contract to run our trains will have my vote.

There, thats my bit of political talk done.

Regardless of you negativity one of the remaining two will run the country and command it's military. If you don't think that's a big deal just ask Iraq.

I line up with Obama I suppose and I do believe he will be president... it's just not time for the Republicans. When economic failure occurs it means losses for the party in office and that means Bush's little buddy McCain won't get elected. I really hate the gas prices issue... it's a world thing and we pay way less than other industrialized nations.

Oh yes, I forgot, Hoodie, how you guarded the troops through to Iraq to devastate a country and "protect" your tremendous homeland. Sorry, sir. Yes, sir. Fuck off, sir.

Um, how does he have anything to do with destroying Iraq? Not many of us stand behind our "leader." Democracy is outdated and stupid... it leaves us with cowboy presidents because the inbred hicks of the south breed like the dogs they have around their trailers. It's only when we can get a wedge issue to convince the retards to vote one way that we can make any progress. Unfortunately, those retards are also religious and afraid so the Republicans have been doing a great job of exploiting them.

QUOTE(Existentialist @ Aug 28 2008, 10:49 pm) *

Obama sucks. Only in a country dumb enough to "elect" Bush (read: make it close enough that both elections could be stolen) could we be dumb enough to elect Obama. I'm proud to be an American -- should I vote for Barack Hussein Obama, the poster child of affirmative action who is the model bullshitter, or John McCain, the war hero who spent almost six years in a war prison for this country. Gee, let me think.

Wow, this actually roused me to response. I am not a huge democrat, but it's for reasons like this that I absolutely detest the majority of republicans. It would've been fine if you said you didn't agree with Obama's views. I mean, you have your right to agree with McCain. But no, because he spent 6 years in a war prison, he's more qualified as a president? I don't hate McCain, but I hate republicans who support him for shit like that. I mean, they're all for torture, are they trying to make an army of presidential candidates?
I live in southern Georgia, and am the only liberal in sight. If you wave a flag in front of my neighbors faces, tell them you're a Christian, and tell them you're gay if you don't vote for them, they will vote for you. It makes me sick. I'm not a huge Obama fan, but if you ask me his views simply make more sense than McCain. One of them is going to lead our country. I'd pick the less painful poison.
