On a dutch news-site yesterday evening: (translated it for your reading pleasure, do'nt expect you all to undersand dutch)

Amsterdam - Rockband Live releases a cd and dvd of their registration of a concert in Paradiso Amsterdam. The American formation has never released a live-cd or -dvd, says recordlabel Sony/BMG on Thursday.
The dvd-registration of the concert held 2 weeks ago in the Amsterdam rocktemple, is to be released in October.

The band, known for hits like "Lightning Crashes", "I alone" and "Overcome", is returning to the Netherlands on August 30th. THen the foursome Patrick Dahlheimer, Chad Gracey, Chad Taylor and Ed Kowalczyk will be playing at the Beatstad Festival in The Hague.

People who are unable to catch that show, will have another chance in November in Rotterdam. Live is the main act during the "Night of the Proms-concerts".

Just throwing it out there, Sony BMG is the parent company of many record labels including Epic and Columbia. Bands who are affiliated with Sony BMG are all on one of the company's labels and not Sony BMG itself. So hopefully whichever label Live went with it, it treats them better than Epic

I checked all the websites, and there is no clear indication that Live is with Sony BMG, besides the fact that they are on their homepage. I guess we'll be getting clarification soon.

Last I heard they had distribution in Europe but not here. That might explain the Sony/BMG quote.

As far as I know, Live selected Sony/BMG to distribute the DVD in Europe. That by no means indicates they've signed for a record deal if that's what is suggested.

But if they signed a distribution deal with Sony/BMG in Europe, they would probably have signed a similar deal in Australia and maybe even the US. Sony/BMG is a huge company with a ton of labels(both major and indie), I'm betting they will be distributing the DVD nationwide. Hopefully confirmation will come shortly.

If there are no other distribution deals set, I think an October release is a pipe dream.

Possibly maybe.

I should have mentioned that the Sony/BMG thing is for Benelux (short for Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg), not Europe as a whole.

I'm thinking that is why they want the DVD out by October, the band will spending a month in those countries on promotion. I'm betting a similar deal will be in place in Australia, and I bet the boys go this summer (Dec/Jan/Feb) to promote.

Now we need US news!

I dont think anything will change. It will continue to be scattered blocks of shows, which is still good. I think its just a saign of no new material and more of the same to come which is better than no Live.

You asked enough awesome questions yesterday, you're off the hook. smile.gif

I think the next question to ask is whether the band be playing the new material from the DVD this fall in concert. I really hope they don't pull a Radiant Sea with this project and not play the new songs.
