If you dont grow and change you end up not being able to appreciate any new music. Or worse end up like your parents.

Now I think this is very well stated.

Personnally My fav rotates. but the top spot is often filled by SS or V.
Now V fills this spot due to its multitude of styles. Rather that following a format like say Perl jam and holding on to Grunge Live experimented with differant sounds and vocal technique creating some of my favourite songs such as Forever, deep enough and Simple creed.

Personnally people who state TC as their Fav album are more often then not the people at concerts that as surprised that it was not their 1st album.

I was introduced with TC and White Discussion is still one of the best songs ever penned and remixed.

But move on. The band did.

If you dont grow and change you end up not being able to appreciate any new music. Or worse end up like your parents.

This is ridiculous, it's like saying music can't be timeless ... TC and SS are always interchanging as far as my favs go but if Live were to actually release something decent these days to challenge that old material then I'd have no problems saying it was my favorite.
Just because people might be "stuck in the past" when it comes to Live doesn't mean they're not appreciating heaps of other new music out there, Live aren't the only band in the world. I just don't think they've comes close to recapturing the magic they had on those 2 albums (besides TDTH, but still..). Also, apparently the band hasn't moved on, have you seen their setlists? When they release new albums they don't even play every song from them over the course of the tour. Show's how much faith is there in the new material vs the old stuff.

i have been to every live show within a 100 mi radius every time they tour. but no album touches either MJ/TC for me. Doesn't make me less of a fan. I went crazy for Samadhi, Ghost was my fav song for years, i love every song on TDTH, and the rest are listenable and i do keep them in rotation, because its +LIVE+. their worst is better than some band's singles. Live's LIVE show is what has kept me a fan, despite what i see as declining album quality...

and your post got a lil preachy there at the end......that last line was so corny i thought it was a signature. get real rocknerd.....

Sorry if i got preachy; however we are discussing the requirement of a "true" fan so preachy is a part of that.

Real is what I am, faults i have many views extremely one sided but thats reality.

and if im preachy you must be a FUNDERMENTALIST.

And liverocks77 im glad you want to be just like your parents.

Don't give a rats ass if you are glad douche bag. Maybe you would be too if yours weren't child molesters? I'm proud of my parents and their musical tastes. In fact, I love everything about them.

And wtf is a fundermentalist? Don't try to use big words you can't spell nor understand shit boy.

SJN1279 epitomizes the true Live fan. He is eternally positive and could never criticize what the band is or does.

When I imagine Nick talking about Live, I see someone who throws up the gayest 'jazz hand' motion you can think of and says in a flamboyant voice, 'Live!"

What is a Fundermentalist??

That would be someone so dovoute they are blinded by their self righteous beliefs that everyone else is wrong.
No one else could possible be right.

A fundermentalist will also attack a person with regard to personal feelings or regard for what is being said.

But further more FUCK You; you Pissy little in signifiCUNT!

How dare you make such remarks.

ITs people like you who have no Idea about the damage that is done by nieve Fuck stains like you who make coments like that.

Next time you use molestation or child abuse as an insult why dont you go and talk to some one who has actually been molested and see that it is not a joke.

Fuck you!

Go blow your little brother like daddy taught you. And wipe your ass with the dictionary that taught you your retarded ass English you cock smuggling ass pirate.

Further more, if you'd like people to have "regard" for what you say, trying speaking in an intelligent manner so that people can actually interpret what the fuck it is you're trying to say. Instead of spewing off your narrow minded bullshit, insinuating to others that you know exactly what you're talking about and nothing anybody else says matters. Take daddy's cock out of your ear because obviously it has nudged your brain and caused several insufficiencies. While your at it, pull the plumber off your mom and tell her being a ditch pig isn't helping your development any.

Dude, you really could have summed all this up with - "it's Fundamentalist, not Fundermentalist" bounce.gif

Maybe it should be adjusted to get back on topic. Instead of saying what makes a true Live fan (since that was controversial) people could complete this statement (which could really qualify as anything you can come up with):

You are REALLY a true Live fan if ____________________________________________.

You are REALLY a true Live fan if..... BUTT SCRATCHER!!! BUTT SCRATCHER HERE! GET YOUR BUTT SCRATCHER!!

If their music (past or present) moved you in some way. If you can say without a doubt that you love the music they make/made. It doesn't need to go any deeper. But I guess for some, this type of answer isn't enough.

But I guess quantity would count. If one or two songs moved you it doesn't mean you would be a true fan. But I'd say if at least 60% and up of their music moved you then sure why not. Ahh there's no simple answer to this. It's up to each individual to say if they are or they aren't. It's what you feel in your heart? I'm feeling this booze in my throat so I'm gonna go talk to Ralph.
