From FOL:

On July 4th, LIVE will also be performing at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Denver, CO. They will be performing with Blues Traveler and Collective Soul for this event. Tickets go on sale to the public on Saturday, April 26 at 10am MDT via Ticketmaster. We are working on a presale for this event for our Homespun members.. so members please be sure to check back in!!

I got my tickets via homespun presale. Row 27 is pretty good, I'd rather have a reserved seat than a GA.

Only a few more days!!! Who all is coming to the show? We are driving up tomorrow after work and staying near Red Rocks for the night, not sure when we will get in line, but I'd like to get there early to get a good GA seat. I wonder how die hard the BT fans will be?

I hear the boys fly into Denver tomorrow.

I will be there, flying out on the morning of the 4th. Wonder if we'll get Simple Creed or Ramble On? I'm guessing it will be a shorter set due to the support status so probably not. I'm excited either way. I've never been to Red Rocks and it should be a cool experience.

I'm with Brian, the show was amazing. The band was on the entire night and fed off the large audience. The crowd was totally into things by I Walk the Line. The reactions to I Alone, Lakini's Juice, and Lightning Crashes were off the charts! Brian's setlist seemed accurate except that the band did not play White, Discussion, they played Lakini's Juice instead. Ed tried using the megaphone for that song, but figured out he sounded better with just the microphone.
Ed's voice was amazing and totally tonight as well. He also thanked both bands and mentioned how excited Live was to be a part of this summer tour. He said its going to be one big party all summer long! Sounds good to me!

Red Rocks is an amazing venue. I had awesome seats due to the SOY presale(ROW 27, dead center) and it was worth every penny to come to Colorado for this show. This summer should be one fun ride!

Thanks for the correction, I was typing the setlist in my phone during the show.

Everything was running behind schedule, I assume since it was the first night of the tour. The gates opened about an hour late and Hana Pestle's opening set got sut even shorter than is was supposed to be. She was pretty good, the crowd was very apprective towards her. This tour is a big break for her. We ran into her later, she is the nicest person. Support new artists and pick up her CD if your going to the show.

Collective Soul was OK, I was surprised that I new so many of their songs. I just don't get Ed R's stage presence, he must have watched too many Sammy Haggar videos when he was growing up. After thier set he came out to the front of teh stage and took pictures and shook hands with people, very cool of him to do.

Great set by the boys last night, the guys seemed to be having a good time. I assumed it would be a majority Blues Traveller fans, everyone around us was there for BT, but were totally into the Live set, especially "the hits." It was a short set, 75 minutes, but they packed in a lot of songs. I am looking forward to seeing them headlining on Wednesday in Seattle. Chad was stomping and Pat was gooving on the bass. Chad stomped so hard he lost his sunglasses smile.gif

I've been to Red Rocks several times and seen some amazing shows there, but sitting right up front is a totally different experience. You can see the expressions on the guys faces and hear 9,000 people cheering behind you, it was truly an amazing day.

Stupidly I forgot to pack the cable for our digital camera, so I'll have to wait to post pictures until we get back from our vacation.

More later,
Brian

A few more things I remembered from yesterday...

I forgot my ear plugs in the car, so I ran down to the car during CS's sound check to get them, thank goodness it was freaking loud!

Apparently it was a bad day for guitarists... The rhythm guitarist for CS was having all sorts of pedal/cable problems during the entire set and then Chad had a few pedal problems of his own.

Is this something new... Ed didn't sign "bitch" during Waitress. He just mumbled thru it.

Ed forgot to grab the megaphone for the first line of W,D, so he ran back to the drum kit to grab it after the rest of teh guys had already started the song, but was a little late so the first few words were missing ("It was an evening I shared"), he started with "[sh]ared with the sun..."

Merch had the signed drumheads and setlists, the black tour T with tour dates, a retro "Get on the bus" T w/o dates, a cool light green girly T, and the normal key rings, postcards, etc.

We left our seats for the Blues Traveller set to grab some dinner and waters. We have seen them before and tire of them very quickly. Jam bands don't do it for us, 20 minute versions of songs just grate on my nerves. But, the crowd seemed to be totally into them. We watched the fireworks over Denver from near the merch table and then headed out.

The guys are in good form, I can't wait to see them on Wednesday in Seattle with a headlining set. They have to be totally jet lagged though, Europe early in the week, Colorado on Friday, the weekend in Hawaii and back to Seattle on Wednesday. I hope they can keep this energy and form up. Makes me wish they were playing a club tour, but it was great to see them at Red Rocks, it is truely a special place. What an amazing day!

My recording is now posted on Dime, check out the thread here: http://www.fansoflive.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=2179

I went to this show too. LIVE was great and BT was boring. I mean you can only take so much harmonica before your head explodes.

Anyway, I purchased one of the autographed set lists and noticed it was missing STD. I guess the guys just felt like inserting it while playing or something? I only wished they played longer.

I think we should post comments on her thread. The reviewer said that Live was a mixed bag, but they got the best reaction of the night? Blues Traveler bias in effect smile.gif

Sounds good. I noticed that too and then at the end he said somethign about growing up a BT fan. No wonder he thought they were the best.
