Why does anyone give a fuck that he's in the video for a few seconds? I actually think its great that he is collaborating with more artist especially artist outside Live's genre. The man is very talented and it should make all Live fans feel a little pride that Ed is even asked to help out with any major recording artist whether you like that type music or not.

Anyway just wanted to throw my 2 sense in here. I haven't posted in awhile because I get sick of all the whiney bitches who feel the need to post on this site anymore.

Dude you're a waiter for fucks sake. Of course you don't think its demeaning and degrading to sell out and appear in a rap video for wanna-bes and naggers.

First off I'm not a waiter. Google Waiter at Cliftons and learn a lil something.

Second so what If I was a waiter? How would that even play into this argument. Would being a waiter make someone stupid, so stupid that they would not understand how, in your words appearing in a rap video is demeaning and degrading?

So just because you think being in a rap video is demeaning and degrading actually makes it that? What the fuck? Who the fuck are you to judge? You're a nobody in the big scheme of this world. A nobody like me and every single person on this board. So stop being judgmental, and a racist for that matter. Using a term like "naggers". Type it the way you really want to. Think using an "a" instead of an "i" makes you seem not racist? At least if you would spell it "niggers" then I know you wouldn't be hiding behind stupid spellings.

Waiter,

I like your optimism on the Ed's appearance in the video. I'd agree with you if this wasn't just a trendy stunt. This particular case seems more like Ed reaching out in desperation rather than Ed reaching out to diversify his portfolio.

It's the whole image. It seems just a bit too trendy and silly to be a solid positive for live fans. I think Ed is a very talented musician and I like the notion of his reaching out to explore new territories. Trendy pop-rap music for the club just isn't one them. There's nothing wrong with him wanting to get into hip-hop even. I think Ed singing a hook for Jay-Z, Eminem, Outkast or even Kanye[although I cant stand him] would make for a decent listen. Ying-Yang twins not so much!!

This is just my opinion but from a musical and lyrical perspective Ed usually writes and sings about deeper subjects. Suddenly he's involved with a project that about nothing more than how big the wheels on your ride is. It just doesn't seem like Ed, which is why I believe it's more of a publicity/exposure stunt than it is a musical endeavor. It's got nothing to do with hip-hop. I'd love to see him do something in that genre, as I previously mentioned I think his vocals could be pretty cool through a hook or chorus. My problem with this is that it's the trendy club pop-rap

Why?

Did you actually see the video? Ed with the gold chains, walking up with the bro handshake? It just reeked of cameo for the sake of cameo'ness.

Thing is, we've seen Ed's venture into attempted rapping before and it wasn't pretty. On the whole rap music isn't a genre I enjoy, however there are a few artists I like (maybe more so hip hop, but anyways) but I can certainly at least appreciate some of it without it being my thing .. this song and im assuming more from this artist are just .... shit. Like as I say, are they just gathered around singing about this car or what? Rap/Hip Hop can be powerful or fun etc .. It's not strictly rap but I'd love to see Ed work with Tricky some more but this song just seems to try and appeal to the lowest common demoninator, much the same as things like Britney Spears, Idol, or most of the mainstream pop does and for Ed to try and jump on board with this rather than artists he either truely admires or at least artists that have talent just screams bad form and desperate. The thing with that dude where they sung "Smoke" together, wasn't my thing either but that seemed way more Ed than this does.

Then again, what do I know, maybe Ed truely thinks this guy is the best thing since sliced bread and that this song and others like it are going to change music as we know it. I mean isn't that what the guy said in the first place, that this is either sink or swim, it's definitely sink.

It's not a huge issue, Ed can do what he wants, I just think a lot of people here would rather see him and the rest of the guys devote more time to the band than crap like this. Personally for me I just hope they get a new album together so I can finally decide whether I want to keep hanging on for hope that they can recover the talent they had in the 90s or whether they're over the hill now and that it's time to let go.

I sincerely doubt that "working a lot" on the new record buy this bud means something. Well, of course, I can not tell for now. Anyway. The guy whom you mentioned, Eamon, also said that Eddie K did zounds of vocal parts for his new album, which in the long run resulted in a couple of lines.

So you never know.

I sincerely do not give a damn. And I will bet that he sings a chorus in a song and that is it if ever he is on that album.

I can just see both Ed and this David Banner both being completely delusional as to who the other person is, their thinking being something along the lines of:

Ed: "Wow I can jump on board with this world renowned house hold name rapper, the kids will love me then, I'll be in the top 10 for sure, my career is saved!"

Banner: "Wow I can jump on boared with this legend of the music industry who was one of the world's biggest stars in 1995, he must be well respected amoungst his peers and will soon be in the rock n roll hall of fame, I'll gain credibility and be in the top 10 for sure, my career is saved!"

How disappointed they'll both be sad.gif

I'm sure Ed K. is respected among his peers as a talented performer and artist. Ed Roland made the comment on a VH1 show about how amazing the guy's voice was. Just because commercially Live isn't as big as 1995, does not mean he has the respect for making a huge impact in the industry.

I dunno, I imagine most people not knowing who he is, most seem to think he's a poor man's Bono (note as always - I hate Bono and would choose Ed any day over him, but thats just me) and the ones that do are probably also of the opinion that he was once awesome but since dropped the ball. That being said, I think the desired effect of "whoa David Banner managed to get ED FUCKING KOWALCZYK on his album!!!" is not going to happen.

I disagree. I dont think you give him enough credit. Many people may not know his name, especially his last name but I've heard many people reference him as the bald guy. He does stand out a bit in people's minds.

Which is exactly my point, he's "the bald guy", meaning all they can remember is a physical attribute and not even a name. I'm not knocking him personally, I think his work from 1991-1999 is incredible, but I'm saying in the industry he's pretty much a nobody. The name of the band Live certainly would be a bigger draw and people would go "oh yeah, I remember Live" You ask of the lead singer and get an answer "I dunno, the bald guy..". He's just not a major player in any sense and I do kinda like the idea of David Banner bringing in Ed as his masterstroke haha
