Now we have more or less a confirmation that the DVD is gonna happen, we can specualte some about it.
It is not said when it will be filmed exact, but it will be at the end of june in Holland. Must be the Paradiso gigs I guess (although 1 of those will take place in july ).

What do you think will be played at the gigs? I expect a setlist that is not very different than previous shows this year. But they've changed the setlist between march, april and may, so I'm not sure what it's gonna be. maybe it was to try out what would work best. Is the fact that they were exercising Ramble On at the souncheck last show an indication that they want to play that one?
The setlist will ofcourse contain the main singles. Maybe they play many songs (hopin for that lol.gif ), so they can choose later.

Anyone ideas?

I'm geussing it'll be something similar to the Awake tracklisting with some SFBM songs thrown in there *yawn* I'm guessing they'll be thinking that if they don't pack it tight with every single then people won't want to buy it, people won't want to buy it anyways besides hardcore fans because that's all they have left, so besides the very few like Nick who seem to think their singles are their best songs I really wish they would make this a real treat for having waited so long and just stick heaps of long lost treasures into the set list (TBD, Ghost, Waterboy, Face and Ghost, Gas Hed .. whatever!).

As long as the show ends with 'White, Discussion', I'll be happy. Conversely, if it ends with 'Dance with You' I may throw something at my tv.

I predict a setlist full of hits and not much in the way of non-single tracks.

I think if Live were to add some rare tracks, then it would be in the extras portion of the disc.

So you both think it will be focussed on their singles??

that's dissapointing, because I had hope to finally see Iris in concert. I guess that's asking too much eh.gif

Btw, Dangum, ofcourse I hope for W,D as an end too, but haha ending with Dance With You is very big chance, regarding previous shows in Holland. the 'we all wanna dance with you' thing started over here several years ago, so I'm quite sure Ed will do that again. Hopefully it won't be the last song of the setlist.

I think Simple Creed was brought back this May for the sole purpose of its inclusion on the DVD. However, I'm not sure if any covers will make the DVD due to royalties and what not. All the main singles will have to be included on the Live CD/DVD, otherwise it will limit the products commercial appeal.

Certain to be on:
Lightning Crashes
I Alone
The Dolphin's Cry
Lakini's Juice
Selling the Drama
All Over You
Heaven

Likely:
Simple Creed
The River
They Stood Up for Love
Run to the Water
Turn My Head

On the bubble:
Walk the Line
Overcome
Iris
Pillar of Davidson
Pain Lies on The Riverside
Operation Spirit
Shittown
Beauty of Gray
Any possible new songs

Anyone have any other songs they think will be included?

Nick, it already has no commercial value because well .. it's Live. It will sell big in Holland and Australia but that's because Live is somehow still relevent here (and there). That's what I'm saying, I hope they just cut their losses and make this one a real treat for the hardcore fans, god knows we've waited long enough to see a Live Live album/dvd we should get something more.

I think the list that Nick posted is sadly going to be pretty accurate, those have pretty much been the same songs for the past god knows how many years they've been playing with the odd change here and there.

The DVD should be an official record of a Live concert that fans can keep long after the band hangs it up. The band are going to play their favorite songs and biggest hits. That is what a live DVD is supposed to be, unless your a band who releases one live album every year like Dave Matthews Band.

Don't expect Live to play songs that they haven't played in years for this recording. They may, but most likely they won't. They should take songs that they feel represent their career and make it a definitive collection of the band's best songs. The boys only get two shots at making this recording, and they aren't going to mess around too much.

I know they won't, I can't ever really see Live moving from this stale setlist format. I agree it'll contain pretty much every song you mentioned, the sad part is that we can actually predict that. Problem is, a definitive collection of the band's best songs is not just their singles and big hits, you seem to act like every song that wasn't released as a single is somehow filler material.

I'm not saying that, but i feel the songs that the band are famous for should be included in a definitive collection over most their lesser known songs. Live puts on some of the best "live" shows out there. Regardless of the setlist, I'm sure the Paradiso concerts will be one that the majority of hardcore fans will want to own. The atmosphere at those shows will just be off the friggen charts!

Good ideas above and I think Nick's more or less right about the setlist. I'd bet anything that Simple Creed will be in the show since they have resurrected it and more importantly stuck to it lately. Here's what I'd like the setlist to be:

Lakini's Juice
Operation Spirit
All Over You
Selling the Drama
I Walk the Line
God Don't Never Change
Iris
Beauty of Gray
Shit Towne
Heropsychodreamer
Simple Creed
I Alone

BREAK

Merica
Brothers Unaware
Lightning Crashes
Turn My Head
Pain Lies on the Riverside
Mother Earth is a Vicious Crowd

BREAK

Unsheathed
Rattlesnake
White Discussion

Pretty awesome setlist there, there are certain songs that won't ever leave the setlist - Lightning Crashes, Lakini's Juice, I Alone, Dolphin's Cry, Selling the Drama, White Discussion ... everything else I think should be fair game to get shuffled around on a continuous basis. Nick seems so intent on Live appealing to the casual fan rather than the loyal fanbase and those songs would more than satisfy casual fans. Why reward/cater for casual listeners and neglect the loyal?
But like I said, I don't think that will be the case, it's just what I wish would happen.

I really hope that if they're going to release a live audio cd with this too that it's a different concert with a whole different setlist. A few bands have done that recently, filmed a DVD and then 6 months later recorded a live album one showing the start of a tour and one at the end and then released at the same time together. That way you get two completely different shows with different set lists, you can rip the audio from the DVD if you need to as well.

I hope there is a blooper reel on the DVD as a bonus feature. We all know Ed is going to f*ck up the lyrics to at least two or three songs, much like he completely forgot the first verse of PoD in Ventura. So it might be amusing to have a clip reel of them messing up, laughing about it and starting the song over.

I don't really give a damn what ends up on the DVD, but if "I Walk the Line" isn't on there, I'm not buying it.

Existensialist nailed what would be a superb setlist............it'll never come close to that, but dare to dream.

I'm guessing Pillar of Davidson will be on it since they've dusted it off and have been playing it lately. Great choice if it is. But alas it's only 1 tune............they really should take the opportunity to drill deep and come up with a well-rounded set that just isn't centered on the commercial / hit aspect. Easy for me to say I guess...

Ex's setlist is pretty damn sweet, though I'd prefer it to include TSUFL and RTTW - both commercial hits that have been in the setlist for ages I know - but they're some of the best Live has ever produced.
