You ordered the quotes in a certain way, embolding his first one, and to me this made you seem as though you thought he was being a legitimate hypocrite, seriously wanting credit after digging at you for the same.

So for my money, there are two possibilites here. The above is true, or you pointlessly highlighted his perfectly acceptable joke and failed to achieve anything at all.
