QUOTE(Badman @ Apr 25 2008, 3:30 pm) *

You misunderstood me. He sold them once with the promise that they wouldn't be sold again. As far as I know, no other sales have been made otherwise they would have been to me because I want them just the same as you.

At one time I was like you, but being nice really doesn't get you anywhere. banana.gif

Even if only once, I think selling material without the rights to sell it is not only illegal, it's parthetic if you're a "fan" of the band.

Being nice might not always get you anywhere. For many being nice and the golden rule is a self-centered action. I'm not going to become a big asshole so that I get what I want, to me that would define a person as being pretty damn weak.l

QUOTE(Merica @ Apr 25 2008, 5:50 pm) *

The thing is though, people trade tracks behind the scenes. That's a fact. In order to get the rare stuff, you need to have OTHER rar stuff to barter with. If you released all your stuff, you'd have no power. Selfish? Maybe, but it's how it is. In addition, if everyone released all their stuff, it might piss off the band. Keeping it all behind the scenes means that it's slow to get around, but it WILL eventually grace everyone's library. I think, anyway.

But yeah, non sharers are stoooopid. Anyone who has, say, Overcome (full band) and isn't sharing it is truly a sucker of cocks. *cough*

I understand this point completely, however if it was entirely 100% true then it should be pretty easy to make that trade. I attest through information garnered through PMs that this "bartering" isn't achieving easy and simple success. I'm probably not up to snuff on what's realistically available, what has Dan's Secret Album been traded for? What has been gained? I would imagine at some point, anyone with a keen interest in collecting rare +Live+ content they'd be making their way through the internet wanting to trade as well. If you find a person sitting on rare content, that isn't a fan of the band, I'd wager he's not all that interested in trade but rather some sort of monetary gain.

Sharing it on fan page isn't going to get it put on the radio. I'm sure there's no discernible difference to the band if a very small portion of their fans get a few rare tracks.

QUOTE(Existentialist @ Apr 26 2008, 12:29 am) *

Fine. I'll sell you the tracks I have for $10,000 in cash tomorrow.
You sure haven't gone about it the right way. You don't come on the main message board and demand that you get them, or insult the people who have them. I have given away these tracks to so many people on here it's not even funny, and not one of them came on here and bitched like a little crybaby girl.

I don't think I demanded that I get them. After reading the thread I got a bit flustered that the old admin sold these. I'm the type of person that believes that to be quite fucked up when you're a fan of the band. While you may view me as a "crybaby girl", I view you as some sort of elitist wannabe for simply being in the right place at the right time. Your condescending tone makes it sound as if you really accomplished something buy purchasing these tracks, while calling someone else a "crybaby" for not having the same access you had.

QUOTE(Existentialist @ Apr 26 2008, 12:29 am) *
Well you'd be absolutely wrong because although I keep the language down a bit, I don't act much differently than this and I've gotten further in life than you ever will. I'm not an asshole, just intolerant of whining, cocksucking bullshit. You said last summer that the dropout rate at medical schools was "so high" (less than 5%) and I'd never make it, yet I'm in the top third of my class at a great medical school after the first and hardest year. So, as has been obvious all along, your opinion doesn't count for shit. So keep crying to mommy about my behavior, but it won't get you any tracks from me.

I'm fine not getting any tracks from you? Who is "mommy" that I'm crying to? It's humorous to see that you're showing your elitist nature again. You've past the first year of medical school. Isn't saying the "top third" a way of sugar coating things when really 33% of the medical school students in your class are doing as well or better than you? Why aren't you top 2%. If you complete medical school you will have a higher degree of formal education than me, although I don't think being a successful engineer is anything to sneer at. Either way, I'd say your condescension speaks volumes about you. You seem to have this fratboy obsession with calling people cocksuckers, bitch and crybabies. Could someone with your esteemed level of brilliance be anymore unoriginal, cliche' and boring.

QUOTE(Existentialist @ Apr 26 2008, 12:29 am) *
As for my being a disgrace as a fan of Live? I'm the most active person pursuing these rare tracks right now. I'm sorry if that has gotten in the way of just handing them out for free to people like you who never post and expect a free handout like a schoolboy bitch. Now, excuse me while I go listen to the rare tracks that pretty much every regular poster here has except for you, Ed and Hoodie! banana.gif banana.gif banana.gif banana.gif

I'm not a regular poster here. Try not contradicting yourself. I'm both a "regular poster" and a person "who never post" all in the same paragraph. Kudos Mr. Intellectual.

You're the most active person pursuing these rare tracks? Why have you not received them yet? This is yet another case of your Elitist attitude. You pat yourself on the back for being a product of being in the right place at the right time. Perhaps if other people had the tracks and the contacts they'd have better success than you! Why aren't people knocking at your door to trade with YOU?

I'm a fairly regular poster.

I don't have them.

Probably never will either if it takes having something rare to trade...

Exactly, a small number does have the the tracks and it doesn't matter.

About the radio... It is obvious that Live doesn't care about radio play anymore and if it is not for commercial sale it can't hit the radio anyway. Radio is a really poor measure of a song btw... Have you heard the new Panic song on the radio?? bomb.gif

That's what I find illogical.

If the only way to gain rare content is to have rare content, where does the circle begin?

Do you think that if every member of this messageboard that has made at least 1 single post had these tracks, it would matter to the band?

I think such assertions are grabbing at straws.

Your panties got all twisted up now didn't they? I'll be able to choose whatever specialty I want, and will have more earning potential than you'll ever dream of while crunching numbers in a cubicle like some lacky. And that's before your job gets taken by Apubar the 12 year old blind Indian kid! Kindly untwist your panties, let your nuts drop and get over it already. You've looked foolish for long enough! banana.gif

Yawn!!

Look, Ex has nothing to say so he has to try and bring out grammar to make fun of someone. Blah blah blah, this is the same boring shit from 11 years ago when message boards were springing up all over the place.

All the people but the one's you want are knocking at your door. That's not exactly something to brag about.

I'm sorry that you don't understand why I capitalized Elitist. Better put that nose back into the books.

Get back with me when you have something 'grown up' to say. I graduated college long enough ago that I don't have any interest dealing with frat-kids again.

Edit:: Ex, edited a lot of material from his post, he must've realized that the silly points he made were idiotically trivial, dull, and exactly as I described.

It's so boring, yet you can't resist replying! That's the whole point. I don't blame you though. If I made $38k per year and had to go home to that ogre you date I would spend all my time in a cubicle whining too. banana.gif banana.gif banana.gif banana.gif banana.gif

One day one of the nicer fans might share.

If not? Wasn't meant to be...

Actually, both your jobs are liable to be taken over by an indian kid... My roommate is from India and is a Bio major lol... My career won't make any money (Archaeologist or Anthropologist) but it will be so much fun that it won't matter.

Oh yeah, no ties or cubicals for me tongue.gif Plenty of botflies and sunburns though. cry.gif

True in some sense, since literally half my class is Indian. However, doctors don't get their jobs outsourced whereas engineers sometimes do, so although future non Indians may be forced out of medicine by Indians, it's not happening to the ones who already made it.

Totally irrelevant, but...

I have a double major: chemical engineering and anthropology.

What do I do for a living?

Design jewelry.

lol
